Chapter 1181 — Not to Be Underestimated

Zhao Xiaoxiao looked at Zhao Yusheng, drew a deep breath, and nodded.

Taking the prescription from Zhao Yusheng’s hand, she turned and strode out.

Now that Jian Yi’s condition had stabilized, Zhao Yusheng let out a breath of relief as well. He glanced toward the man standing guard outside and beckoned with his hand.

The brother quickly stepped in and asked quietly, “Young Master, what are your orders?”

“Go and prepare some nourishing food.”

“Yes, Young Master.” The brother cupped his fists. “When shall it be brought in?”

“Get it ready first and wait for further orders.” Zhao Yusheng waved his hand.

If he could, he would have preferred to prepare the food for Feng Jiu’er himself — but at this moment, he did not dare to leave.

“Yes.” The brother gave a nod and turned to go.

After a whole night of turmoil, Feng Jiu’er simply lay down beside Jian Yi.

The room had only one bed, and she was too tired to fuss over it — she just wanted to rest for a while.

Yet before she knew it, she had fallen asleep, and when she woke, it was already midday.

Feng Jiu’er slowly opened her eyes, only to find a pair of eyes set in a strikingly handsome face staring back at her. She sat up with a start.

“Jian Yi, you… you’ve woken up?”

Without another thought, she immediately reached for Jian Yi’s hand and pressed her long fingers against his pulse.

Seeing the person on the bed awake, Xiao Yingtao, who had been sitting nearby, rose to her feet and walked over.

“Xiao Yingtao, how long was I asleep?” Feng Jiu’er didn’t need to turn her head to know it was Xiao Yingtao who had approached.

“Not very long — just over two hours.” Xiao Yingtao’s voice came back in a rasp.

With neither of them certain yet, Xiao Yingtao had not dared to sleep despite her exhaustion. After half a day of strain, her voice had taken on a noticeably hoarse edge.

“Feng Jiu’er, how is Jian Yi’s condition?” Xiao Yingtao rubbed her eyes, her voice still rough.

Meeting Jian Yi’s gaze, Feng Jiu’er pressed her lips together and curled the corners of her mouth slightly upward.

“Far better than I anticipated.”

Jian Yi’s recovery truly had surpassed Feng Jiu’er’s expectations.

Had her greatly increased inner strength helped Jian Yi along?

Feng Jiu’er stretched out her arms and turned to sit with her legs dangling over the edge of the bed.

“What Feng Jiu’er means is…”

“Feng Jiu’er.” Before Xiao Yingtao could finish, Jian Yi reached out his hand and caught the hem of Feng Jiu’er’s robe.

Hearing Jian Yi speak, Xiao Yingtao naturally did not dare to interrupt.

She felt the same as everyone else — as long as Jian Yi recovered, nothing else mattered.

Feng Jiu’er turned to look at the man lying on the bed. Those large, bright eyes of his were full of life.

Even she herself felt that after resting for a little while, her whole being was in remarkably good spirits.

Now that she was certain Jian Yi was all right, Feng Jiu’er felt at ease in both body and mind.

“I told you that you would be fine.” She took Jian Yi’s hand in hers, slipped off the bed, and tucked his hand back beneath the covers.

“Wait for me a moment. I’ll eat something and come back to treat your injuries. I promise — before sunset today, you’ll be able to take a few mouthfuls of food.”

“Really?” Xiao Yingtao could hardly believe her ears. “Feng Jiu’er, do you mean that? Jian Yi can eat so soon?”

“Yes.” Feng Jiu’er gave Jian Yi a reassuring glance, then stood up and turned to face Xiao Yingtao.

“Truly. I’m not even sure how it happened — perhaps the divine technique my father passed to me is taking effect. Either way, Jian Yi really is going to be fine. I promise!”

“Xiao Yingtao, have Zhao Yusheng send someone to bring us washing things, and food too — I’m starving, absolutely famished.”

“Oh, and the medicine they prepared last night as well — the medicinal bath solution too. Whatever’s ready, have it all brought in.”

“Got it!” Xiao Yingtao nodded with a grin on her face and ran out happily.

Upon hearing that the people inside were all right, Zhao Yusheng was happier than anyone.

Before long, the bath, the food, and the washing things were brought in one after another.

When Zhao Yusheng carried in a bowl of bird’s nest soup, Feng Jiu’er and Xiao Yingtao were huddled around the table, wolfing down their meal.

“No need to rush — there are also sweets prepared.”

Setting the tray down, Zhao Yusheng turned his head to look at Jian Yi on the bed.

Even he had not expected that in just half a day, Jian Yi’s color would have improved so much.

“Feng Jiu’er truly knows what she’s doing.” Zhao Yusheng curved his lips slightly and let out a soft sigh.

“Go and have some congee prepared for him — made with bone broth. He can have it while he soaks in the bath.”

The words had barely left her mouth when Feng Jiu’er stuffed a piece of meat into her own and stood up.

“Feng Jiu’er, are you full already?” Xiao Yingtao immediately set down her chopsticks, whatever she had been holding.

“There’s no rush — the bath should be ready by now. Let him soak first. He barely came back from the brink; we can’t be careless.”

The moment Feng Jiu’er finished speaking, two different male voices rang out at once.

“I can manage on my own.”

“I’ll help.”

The first voice belonged to Jian Yi; the second came from Zhao Yusheng.

Even as Jian Yi was pushing himself upright, Zhao Yusheng had already moved to his side and steadied him.

“Feng Jiu’er, you two carry on — I’ll take Jian Yi to the bath.”

With those words, Zhao Yusheng effortlessly supported Jian Yi and guided him behind the folding screen.

Watching the two of them move with complete ease, Feng Jiu’er raised her brows and sat back down.

She picked up the sweet dish Zhao Yusheng had brought, lifted the lid, held it under her nose for a sniff, then turned her gaze to Xiao Yingtao.

“Premium bird’s nest — don’t miss out.”

Just as Feng Jiu’er set down the bird’s nest and lifted a spoonful to her lips, the faint sound of water rippling came from behind the folding screen.

She glanced back once, then exhaled with relief.

Xiao Yingtao took a sip of tea and cradled her own warm bowl of bird’s nest soup.

Premium bird’s nest — who would want to pass that up?

“Feng Jiu’er, Jian Yi is truly better — it’s beyond belief! Last night I was so worried… pfft, pfft, pfft — we are all people of great fortune and long life. Long live us all.”

“Indeed.” Feng Jiu’er nodded at Xiao Yingtao. “Since we’re meant to live a hundred years, we must take proper care of ourselves.”

“Otherwise, by the time those hundred years are up, we’d be nothing but wrinkles — and what would be the point?”

With that, Feng Jiu’er savored her bird’s nest contentedly. With Zhao Yusheng there, she had nothing to worry about for now.

“Mm-hm.” Xiao Yingtao nodded solemnly and scooped a spoonful of bird’s nest into her mouth.

“The bird’s nest here is even better than in the Imperial City. I wonder if it’s very expensive?”

“That question would have to go to Zhao Yusheng — but what we’re having today is on him. Have another bowl sent over later.”

The words had barely left Feng Jiu’er’s mouth when Zhao Yusheng came out from behind the folding screen, a smile playing at the corners of his lips.

“No problem at all. As long as you can eat it, I’ll have as much as you want prepared.”

Feng Jiu’er drained her bowl of bird’s nest in one go, looked up at Zhao Yusheng as he approached, then shifted her gaze to Xiao Yingtao.

“Xiao Yingtao, this is what I meant by a hidden magnate. Zhao Yusheng is a man of invisible wealth — not to be underestimated.”

Xiao Yingtao set down her empty bowl, equally satisfied.

“Of course — he’s the Young Master of this place. How could he not be loaded?”
