Chapter 1981: Feng Clan Arc: Ninth Miss Jiu’er Must Not Be Made to Worry

“Don’t overthink it!” Feng Jiu’er glanced at Qiao Mu. “At least a month and a half — there’s no room for discussion!”

Qiao Mu rolled her eyes but said nothing more.

She knew perfectly well that what Feng Jiu’er could accomplish in a month and a half, anyone else would need at least half a year for.

“Qiao Mu, just focus on recovering properly. Jiu’er already said it — the wound was stitched in several layers. How could it possibly heal that fast?”

Xiao Yingtao patted Qiao Mu’s shoulder, stood up, and went off to find Xing Zizhou.

She came back quickly and sat down again beside Feng Jiu’er.

“Jiu’er, don’t worry! Yes, your wedding hurt Jian Yi’s feelings, but he knows his limits — he won’t do anything reckless.”

“Brother Jian Yi’s skills are so strong, nothing could possibly happen to him,” Yue Qinchun said with a smile. “Shouldn’t we be discussing Jiu’er’s wedding arrangements right now instead?”

“We don’t even know when the Prince will come to collect the bride. Will we have enough time to prepare?”

“Don’t worry, everyone’s here to help.” Xiao Yingtao held up all ten fingers and began counting them off.

“Ceremonial robes, hair ornaments, decorating the bridal chamber, the matchmaker, wedding candy, and so on — we…”

Just as Xiao Yingtao finished assigning tasks, the carriage arrived back at the estate.

“Xing Zizhou, wait.” Long Shiyi rode up on his horse, drenched in sweat.

“What is it?” Xing Zizhou stopped and turned around.

“The auspicious hour is the fifth quarter of the Rooster hour. Make sure everything’s ready ahead of time. The Prince said Miss Jiu’er must not be made to worry.” Long Shiyi reined in his horse in front of Xing Zizhou.

“Understood.” Xing Zizhou cupped his hands in acknowledgment.

“The fifth quarter of the Rooster hour — that’s just over an hour away.” Xiao Yingtao, overhearing the conversation outside, shot to her feet.

“Will we make it in time?”

“We can. Quick! Tell the driver to hurry inside!”

“Right, right, we have to move fast, or we won’t make it.”

Everyone in the carriage stood up, except for Qiao Mu and Feng Jiu’er.

Once back at the estate, everyone scattered to their tasks.

Feng Jiu’er went personally to see Feng Li, explained the situation, accepted his blessing, and returned to her own chamber.

She had only been away for a short while, yet her room had already been transformed into something else entirely.

Outside the bridal chamber, the large red lanterns, the calligraphy scrolls, the painted decorations, and the couplets looked much like they had at Qiao Mu’s wedding — but inside, everything was completely different.

Inside the room, everyone was busy at work.

Arranging flowers, laying out the red carpet, hanging gauze curtains, tidying the garments — everyone occupied with their own task.

“Jiu’er, you’re finally back.” Yue Qinchun rushed over the moment she saw her come through the door.

She took Feng Jiu’er’s hand and started pulling her inside.

Feng Jiu’er looked at the room, its light gauze curtains fluttering, and felt her spirits lift. It looked wonderfully dreamlike!

“Where on earth did you all find so much fine gauze in such a short time? And such high-quality material, too.” Feng Jiu’er asked, genuinely astonished.

“The brothers all went out searching for it. There was supposed to be more, but Xing Zizhou lost out to Yu Jingfeng, so this is all that’s left.”

Xiao Yingtao set down what she was holding and stepped out from behind the screen.

“Anyway, your true wedding night will be at the Prince’s estate, so it doesn’t matter if there’s a bit less here.”

“Quick! Come bathe — we’re already short on time, and you took so long.”

Amid Xiao Yingtao’s stream of complaints, Feng Jiu’er was ushered into a bathtub filled with rose petals.

“Oh, right — Xing Zizhou said they found Jian Yi. So just relax and enjoy being the bride.”

When Qiao Mu walked in and heard Xiao Yingtao’s words, she paused mid-step.

For Jian Yi to go missing at such an important moment was truly worrying.

The brothers had all gone out searching for him. For Feng Jiu’er’s peace of mind, and so the wedding could proceed as planned, she had asked everyone to keep the news quiet.

“Qiao Mu, where’s the red sandalwood comb?” Duan Liuyang came over to greet her. “Did you find it?”
