Chapter 1983: Feng Clan Arc: Living a Life Full of Feeling

Today, Feng Jiu’er was the center of attention — she didn’t need to do anything herself; even walking, someone was there to support her.

Fortunately, the red veil was just a thin red silk scarf, so she could still see what was happening outside.

Supported by Xiao Yingtao and Yue Qinchun, Feng Jiu’er left her chamber, crossed the courtyard, and headed toward the main hall.

Along the way, a red carpet had been laid the whole distance, and attendants scattered flower petals on either side.

Someone played the flute, others beat drums and gongs — the atmosphere was lively and joyous.

Amid everyone’s heartfelt blessings, the bride was helped into the main hall.

Inside the hall, Feng Li stood in formal dress near the entrance, waiting.

Today he looked composed and dignified, his bearing as impressive as ever, though a trace of nervousness showed on his face.

His daughter was getting married — even an emperor could not remain unmoved by that.

“Congratulations, Lord Ye, our blessings to you, Lord Ye. Today is the Young Mistress’s happy day. You, my lord…”

Leading the way at the front was the matchmaker, one of Heaven’s Mechanism Hall’s own people.

Serving as matchmaker only required a smooth, glib tongue, and Heaven’s Mechanism Hall never lacked for talented people who could fill that role.

Inside the hall, the groom stood at the very center, dressed in red, strikingly handsome.

Di Wu Ya was tall and imposing, his features flawless and refined, and with the red robe, he looked almost otherworldly, like some captivating spirit.

The moment he turned around holding fresh flowers in his hands, nearly every woman present found herself momentarily entranced.

Even though her heart already belonged to someone else, a brilliance this radiant was impossible to ignore.

The instant Feng Jiu’er entered, her attention locked onto the handsome man in red, so much so that she nearly overlooked her own beloved father.

“Now, please, Lord Ye, hand Young Mistress Jiu’er over to the Young Master’s care. May the Young Master treasure the Young Mistress as his own life, and may the two of them love each other dearly until they grow old together!”

The matchmaker took Feng Jiu’er’s hand, still clutching the red silk scarf, and carefully placed it into Feng Li’s open palm.

Feng Li pressed his lips together lightly, took Feng Jiu’er’s small hand, and turned together with her.

Their eyes met again — even through the thin gauze veil, Feng Jiu’er still felt a certain warmth in his gaze.

It seemed as though they had both been waiting for this day for far too long.

Led by Feng Li, Feng Jiu’er moved slowly forward.

Di Wu Ya stepped forward on his own to meet her.

The newlyweds stopped where the ground was scattered with heart-shaped petals.

“Lord Ye, please hand the bride over to the groom.” The matchmaker’s bright voice rang out.

Feng Li held Feng Jiu’er in one hand and took Di Wu Ya’s hand with the other, and before everyone’s eyes, gave his daughter away.

“Treat her even better from now on!” Feng Li murmured softly.

Everyone knew that Di Wu Ya valued Feng Jiu’er’s heart, and her very life, above his own.

To find fault with Di Wu Ya would be splitting hairs over nothing.

But if he weren’t perfect, he wouldn’t deserve his own perfect daughter.

“Father, please don’t worry.” Di Wu Ya took Feng Jiu’er’s hand and made a solemn vow to Feng Li.

“From this day on, if I ever treat Jiu’er poorly, may the heavens strike me down!”

“Well said!” Yu Jingfeng applauded. “My lord, well said indeed!”

“Well said! Well said!” the others echoed, clapping enthusiastically.

Heaven’s Mechanism Hall’s people were happy to see Feng Jiu’er find happiness — and how could the Dragon Martial Army feel any different?

Their once icy, indifferent master would never have had the life he had now if not for meeting Miss Jiu’er.

Even if he had reclaimed the throne and become emperor, if he remained numb and cold-blooded, what happiness could there possibly be in that?

Life now was hard, exhausting — but seeing their master living a life full of feeling, everyone felt it had all been worth it.
