Chapter 2036: Feng Clan Arc: Embracing the Whole World

“You’re a daughter of the Feng Clan — our little Jiang has no proper claim!” Qiao Mu patted the back of Feng Jiang’s hand beside her.

Feng Jiang pressed her lips into a smile and raised her eyes to meet Feng Jiu’er’s gaze.

“Jiu’er, this matter has to follow your sister-in-law’s wishes.”

Feng Jiu’er suddenly furrowed her brow and immediately covered her mouth. “Ugh…”

“What’s wrong?” Di Wu Ya pulled her into his arms at once, asking in a low voice.

“What exactly is going on?” Qiao Mu stood, waving her hand. “Bring her over here.”

Di Wu Ya carried Feng Jiu’er over and sat down with her on the long bench.

“Girl, what’s the matter?”

Feng Jiu’er only tugged at his arm and made a face.

Di Wu Ya raised his thick brows and fell silent.

“What’s going on?” Feng Li set down his teacup. “Jiu’er, where does it hurt?”

“Should we send for the imperial physician?” Feng Jiang also stood up anxiously.

Feng Jiu’er dropped the playful smile from her face and turned back weakly. “I’m fine, just a little tired.”

That much, at least, wasn’t a lie!

She’d barely rested at night — how could she not be tired?

As she withdrew her gaze, she didn’t forget to glance at Di Wu Ya.

Di Wu Ya smiled indulgently and gently smoothed the crease between her brows.

His thin lips moved slightly, as if he’d said something sweet.

Feng Jiu’er pouted and closed her eyes, too lazy to look at him.

“Could she be pregnant?” Qiao Mu’s moth brows drew together as she looked at Di Wu Ya.

Di Wu Ya, however, acted as if he hadn’t heard her at all, not even lifting his head.

“If you two have something to say, say it quickly. I’m tired and want to go back to sleep.” Feng Jiu’er yawned and said hoarsely.

Qiao Mu looked at the two of them a moment longer, then turned back and sat down beside Feng Jiang.

“If you don’t want the throne, then don’t take it. You’ll have children sooner or later, and it won’t be convenient anyway.”

“It’s not impossible to let little Jiang take over the throne first, but eighteen years at most.” Qiao Mu held up several fingers.

“After eighteen years, the throne returns to the next Feng son or daughter. If the two of you agree, I have no objection.”

Qiao Mu knew Feng Jiang couldn’t bear to abandon the common people — even without the title of emperor, he was already worn thin as the regent prince.

Since that was so, it was better to simply let him take the top position, which would also fulfill Jiu’er’s wish.

“It’s settled, then.” Feng Jiu’er bounced excitedly in Di Wu Ya’s arms.

At that moment she looked like a rabbit freshly let out of its cage — where was the sickly look from a moment ago?

Qiao Mu had known it would turn out this way. Di Wu Ya had been gone for over a month — who else would this girl have gone chasing pregnancy with?

“Then it’s happily decided — the enthronement ceremony is set for tomorrow.”

“A country cannot go a single day without a ruler. If no one takes the throne, the civil and military officials will nag my ears calloused.”

Feng Jiu’er raised her head, cupped Di Wu Ya’s face, kissed his chin, and slipped out of his embrace.

“After the enthronement ceremony, Wu Ya and I will continue leading troops to search for Feng Qiongcang and Han Ying’s whereabouts.”

“At this point, I doubt they’ve gone far.”

Feng Jiu’er went over to Feng Li’s side and poured him a cup of tea.

“Father, please have some tea!”

Feng Li took the cup, his gaze drifting down involuntarily. “How is your body?”

“I’m fine!” Feng Jiu’er pressed her lips into a smile and turned back. “Wu Ya’s only just returned — how could it happen so fast?”

Di Wu Ya came up behind her and pulled her into his embrace.

“I imagine it will be soon enough.”

He curved his lips into a smile, as happy as if he were embracing the whole world.

Feng Jiu’er tilted her head up to look at him, her face also glowing with a happy smile.

Her cheeks flushed slightly, and she turned her gaze back to those present.

“Wu Ya and I still have matters to attend to, so we won’t intrude any further.”

Feng Jiu’er leaned in toward her own man, then turned and ran off.

“What comes next is up to all of you — thanks for the trouble!”
