“Feng Li!”
“My lord!”
Jian Yi scrambled up from the ground just in time to see a dark shadow lunge straight toward the edge of the cliff.
Han Ying!
In her life she had perhaps done many wrong things, many terrible things — but her feelings for Feng Li had always been real.
They always had been, with utter sincerity.
“Feng Li!”
Han Ying flung herself forward and, right behind Feng Li, seized his collar and yanked with all her strength.
That powerful burst of inner strength gave Feng Li a chance to survive.
Feng Li twisted his body, the explosive bundle slipping from his hand, and with the boost from Han Ying’s strength, he leapt back up.
“Feng Li, I want you to remember me forever.”
Han Ying’s voice was scattered by the fierce wind, yet each word still landed, one by one, in Feng Li’s heart.
A thunderous boom shook the earth and the mountains.
“My lord, watch out!” Jian Yi cried, both startled and relieved, before he could even reach him, feeling the mountaintop shake violently.
Feng Li immediately stepped back, and Jian Yi quickly moved in front of him, steadying him as he retreated.
The explosive bundle had detonated at the bottom of the cliff.
Such tremendous force! Had they not been far enough away, even the mountaintop and the cliff’s edge would have been caught in it.
A stroke of luck!
Jian Yi let out a breath of relief.
Once the dust settled, the two of them looked toward the cliff’s edge, filled with a wave of grief and reflection.
Feng Qiongcang, who had done evil his whole life, had finally died in battle — hadn’t he?
For a moment, it hardly seemed real.
Could such a formidable, monstrous man really have died, just like that?
Jian Yi looked at Feng Li, who was walking toward the cliff’s edge.
“My lord, don’t go over there.” Jian Yi still felt a faint sense of unease.
Even though the explosive’s force had been tremendous, and even though they had both watched Feng Qiongcang fall with their own eyes.
Still, until he saw Feng Qiongcang’s corpse with his own eyes, Jian Yi wouldn’t feel at ease.
Still, with the explosive so powerful, and the cliff so high, even if he hadn’t been smashed to pieces, he would surely have been blown to ash.
There was no way a corpse could possibly remain.
Feng Li glanced down over the cliff’s edge, then turned back to look at Jian Yi. “It’s fine…”
But at that very moment, suddenly, with a whooshing sound, a thin line shot up from within the cliff.
Feng Li had his back to the cliff’s edge and didn’t notice it right away.
But Jian Yi saw it with perfect clarity!
“My lord! Watch out!”
He lunged forward at once, shoving Feng Li aside with all his strength.
That thin line pierced into Jian Yi’s shoulder, and in an instant he was dragged toward the bottom of the cliff.
From below the cliff came Feng Qiongcang’s eerie, hoarse voice: “Feng Li, if I’m going to die, you won’t get to live either — we’ll die together!”
Feng Li, already struck by Feng Qiongcang’s palm earlier, had fallen to the ground from Jian Yi’s shove and hadn’t been able to get back up in time.
Jian Yi!
“Feng Qiongcang, I’m still here!”
The one who had fallen was Jian Yi!
Feng Li shouted himself hoarse, but there was nothing he could do — Jian Yi had been dragged down by Feng Qiongcang.
“Jian Yi!”
In that critical instant, a figure in plain white came flying toward the cliff’s edge.
With a whoosh, a strand of silk thread shot out!
But it couldn’t reach Jian Yi at all!
He had already fallen.
“Jian Yi!” Feng Jiu’er’s cry tore through the air, heartbroken.
Her silk thread couldn’t reach him — it simply couldn’t reach!
“Jian Yi!”
The anguished cry lingered at the cliff’s edge.
Jiu’er rushed toward the cliff’s edge, but someone else moved even faster than she did.
Like a gust of wind, he swept past her and vanished into the pitch-black cliff in an instant.
Behind him, a number of others followed.
Yu Jingfeng was so frightened he nearly fainted. “My lord!”
Jiu’er froze, her face draining of all color.
Ninth Imperial Uncle!
Ninth Imperial Uncle had jumped down!
To save Jian Yi, he had jumped.
