Chapter 2059: Modern Arc: What Exactly Does the Young Master See in You

The moment she opened her eyes and clearly saw the man’s face beside her, Zhen Jiu’er felt a pang of disappointment.

Not her Ninth Imperial Uncle.

The dream had been lovely, but in the end, it was only a dream.

Where on earth was her Ninth Imperial Uncle?

Would Ying’an City hold any trace he’d left behind?

“Does my face disappoint you that much?”

The flicker of gloom in her eyes hadn’t escaped Lu Beicheng’s notice.

Was waking up beside him really that discouraging for her?

He felt, inexplicably, a touch of displeasure.

Zhen Jiu’er immediately sat up straight, composed herself, and looked up to force a smile at him.

“No, no, not at all — Young Master, your face is absolutely the most handsome man I, Zhen Jiu’er, have ever laid eyes on, I’m not joking at all!”

It truly was the most handsome face among all the men Zhen Jiu’er had ever seen — but she wasn’t Feng Jiu’er.

Although, in truth, he and her Ninth Imperial Uncle were fairly evenly matched — equally good-looking.

But in the end, he still wasn’t her Ninth Imperial Uncle.

Her Ninth Imperial Uncle held a place in her heart that no one else could ever measure up to.

“Young Master, we’ve arrived.” Ji Mingyu was the first to disembark.

Only then did Jiu’er remember they’d still been on the helicopter.

She’d assumed that with Lu Beicheng in a wheelchair, disembarking would be quite a hassle, and after they landed, she was just about to go help him — after all, she was currently the Young Master’s attending physician.

Though even she herself didn’t understand why the Young Master had chosen an intern who hadn’t even graduated yet.

But since she’d already taken the pay, she had to do the job.

What she never expected was that the Young Master’s wheelchair could actually move on its own — and upon disembarking, it even sprouted two legs.

“This…” It was truly eye-opening!

Seeing her look of stunned amazement, Ji Mingyu couldn’t help but laugh. “This is a piece of high-tech equipment. Not only can it freely climb stairs, it can even climb trees.”

“…”

She stared blankly, utterly baffled.

Climb trees? Was he messing with her?

But there was Young Master Jiu, already off the aircraft without anyone’s help.

Earlier, when boarding the helicopter, she’d arrived to find him already seated and hadn’t gotten a clear look.

Now, she’d finally seen it with her own eyes.

“Young Master!” A young man stepped down from another helicopter and strode briskly toward Lu Beicheng, his manner exceedingly respectful.

“Young Master, the road ahead can only be traveled on foot. Some of the equipment can’t be brought along, but A’Ke has taken everything that could be carried.”

Jiu’er didn’t know who A’Ke was, but she recognized the man now speaking.

He was Lu Beicheng’s bodyguard, Qin Fei.

Reportedly extremely skilled — she had no idea just how formidable.

“So this is Miss Zhen?” Qin Fei had only ever heard her name before, never seen her in person.

Hearing about her hadn’t prepared him for meeting her — a young woman barely over five feet tall.

Jiu’er nodded in greeting.

Ji Mingyu wheeled Lu Beicheng to the front to check the equipment.

Meanwhile, Qin Fei stared at Jiu’er for a long while.

“Is there something on my face?” Zhen Jiu’er finished packing up her medicine box, looked up, and met Qin Fei’s gaze, which was clearly full of curiosity.

Qin Fei shook his head, still looking perfectly serious. “What exactly does the Young Master see in you?”

Jiu’er’s expression darkened.

Qin Fei quickly flashed a smile. “Don’t be upset, I mean no offense — I just can’t figure out why the Young Master would hire a girl who hasn’t even graduated yet to be his attending physician.”

Zhen Jiu’er wasn’t actually angry, since she couldn’t quite figure that out herself either.

“Forget it — either way, the Young Master must have his own reasons.”

Qin Fei glanced at the medicine box in her hand and said with a smile, “That thing’s too heavy, awkward to carry around. Let’s hand it over to A’Ke.”
