“This — the True Art of the Moon and the True Art of the Sun — are the most original ancient scriptures of the human race!” The Great Black Dog cried out in alarm.
The human race of the immemorial age had first appeared near the primordial forbidden zone of the Southern Region. According to records left by other races, they were suspected to have come from beyond the heavens.
The human race of the immemorial age possessed two ancient scriptures, which captured the profound wonders of heaven and earth’s creation. By cultivating them, one could achieve the most original sacred power of the Moon and the Sun — mysterious and abstruse beyond measure, their might unparalleled.
Ye Fan had heard of them long ago. When the ancient great emperors had been forging their own supreme ancient scriptures, they had drawn considerable inspiration from these two most original scriptures.
“This immemorial human saint is a treasure trove from head to toe — practically an immortal storehouse!” The Great Black Dog said, drooling.
A single drop of blood from an ancient saint could kill the most supreme cultivator of the present age — and the warm, lustrous white bone club in his hands was undoubtedly a world-shaking divine object.
Of course, what mattered most were the two most original ancient scriptures of the human race that he possessed — priceless immortal treasures, lost for who knew how many tens of thousands of years.
Ye Fan too was stirred by agitation. This person was a living repository — and the True Art of the Sun and the True Art of the Moon, these two most original ancient scriptures, filled him with eager anticipation.
If he could obtain them, he might be able to infer the entire evolution of human cultivation’s origins and inheritance — for cultivation had begun in that very era.
How to take this immemorial saint away was a matter fraught with enormous opportunity — yet equally enormous peril. Handled poorly, it would invite a catastrophic slaughter-calamity.
“Aimatelixixi…” The youth of the immemorial royal lineage called out loudly, his gaze growing wary. He was gradually sensing that something was wrong.
“He says not to touch this ancient fiend, and urges us to leave immediately,” the Ape explained.
Ye Fan knew that if he attempted to take the immemorial saint away, the youth would certainly try to stop them — and might even summon his father-king.
“Let him sleep for a while. We’ll leave from here.” He had no desire to harm the youth — there was no enmity between them, and the youth had guided them this entire way.
“Thump!”
The Ape lightly chopped him with a palm strike. The youth crumpled and was laid out on a smooth slab of blue-gray stone inside the ancient cave. He would be able to wake on his own within half an hour.
“Whoosh!”
Ye Fan sealed the great divine source block containing the ancient saint into the Cauldron of the Ten Thousand Things’ Primordial Energy. The primordial energy surged through him — a wave of ease and comfort washing over his entire body.
“Be extremely careful — this elder saint’s mind is shattered. If he breaks free, we’ll all die!” The Great Black Dog kept fretting nervously — and for once, it did not contend for anything.
Ye Fan’s heart lurched. He sensed a thread of terrifying energy spreading within the cauldron — emanating from the great divine source block, as though a savage dragon were on the verge of awakening.
“Once we’re out of here, find somewhere to bury him first — we absolutely cannot carry him on our persons!” He quickly arrived at this decision. The two most original ancient scriptures were invaluable — but nothing could outweigh a human life.
When they withdrew and emerged, they gradually began to hear the sounds of battle cries again — the fighting had already reached a white-hot intensity, fierce and devastating beyond words.
“The Crow Daoren…” Ye Fan’s heart stirred. Within the Ten Thousand Dragons’ Nest he caught sight of that aged crow, its body soaked in blood — though none of it was its own.
The Crow Daoren’s cultivation was deep and profound. He and the Red Dragon Elder Daoist were of the same generation — a figure who could walk sideways through the present world with few peers.
Rather than breaking free and retreating, he was still searching within the Ten Thousand Dragons’ Nest — clearly emboldened by his strength, intent on obtaining immortal treasures.
“Whoosh!”
The Crow Daoren flashed and vanished, charging deep into the Ten Thousand Dragons’ Nest, disappearing from view.
“Nangong Zheng, the Crow Daoren… these two are surely not the only ones. Many more have probably charged in — it’s fortunate we moved ahead of them.”
These unrivaled great powers were formidably strong, and even in an absolute forbidden ground they dared to press their luck. A thorough search would surely yield considerable gains.
The True Dragon Immortality Medicine stood a full foot in height, rooted beside the ancient coffin ahead amid a heap of divine source — its entire form radiant as cast gold, dazzling and resplendent.
“Could the Void Emperor’s formation array be used to grab the divine medicine?” Ye Fan asked.
It had grown nine leaves in total, floating like golden clouds — ethereal, light, and translucent. They were extraordinarily eye-catching.
“Very difficult.” The Great Black Dog shook its head and sighed.
Atop the medicine, at its crown, a small dragon the length of a palm moved with vivid, lifelike realism — brilliant and resplendent, its fragrance intoxicating, almost enough to make one drunk. Utterly irresistible.
“Last time, I came within a hair’s breadth of harvesting it — but this time the difficulty is far greater,” Ye Fan said with regret.
The Immortality Medicine swayed, streaming out ten thousand threads of radiance, making this entire stretch of ground blaze with intensity. The intoxicating fragrance grew ever more potent — and the small dragon hanging from it actually opened its eyes and began twisting its body toward them.
“Damn it — provocation! This sovereign is no stranger to immortality medicine. I’ll swallow you whole in a moment!” The Great Black Dog bared its teeth.
The Immortality Medicine rose up from the ground, stretching out its roots and stems above the pile of divine source. The entire plant radiated divine brilliance, flowing like water — completely indifferent to their presence.
“This immortality medicine is absolutely too extraordinary…” Ye Fan too felt his heart itch, wanting desperately to seize it at once.
Suddenly, a thought struck him. He took out the unknown immortal treasure obtained from the chaotic ancient nest and shook it vigorously.
The Immortality Medicine was spiritually aware. Seeing this, it instantly blazed into a burst of intense light and retreated into the divine source heap.
Ye Fan was astonished inwardly. He sent the immortal treasure flying forward.
“Whoosh!”
The Immortality Medicine shot upward as if frightened, transforming in an instant into a streak of golden divine light that flew toward the depths of the Ten Thousand Dragons’ Nest.
“Catch it!” Ye Fan called out.
The Great Black Dog had long since been ready. It rapidly activated the corner of the residual formation array, crossing through the void toward the front, pursuing the True Dragon Immortality Medicine.
“Hum!”
The void trembled. The Immortality Medicine blazed with divine light, releasing brilliant halos of radiance — the entire Ten Thousand Dragons’ Nest flooded with fragrance, permeated in every corner with a rich and heady scent.
It actually broke through the confinement, opening a golden passage through the void — a direct path leading straight to the ancient nest shrouded in chaos. In the blink of an eye, it had vanished.
“Cursed slippery thing — absolutely impossible to hold it in place. No wonder only ancient great emperors could possess them.” The Great Black Dog was exasperated.
Yet Ye Fan’s heart blazed with excitement. He swiftly produced a small white jade cauldron, unfolded his walking-character technique, and moved through the Ten Thousand Dragons’ Nest, collecting the golden divine liquid floating in the void.
“It forced open a void path and discharged drops of medicine-blood!” The Great Black Dog cried out in shock, surging forward.
There were thirty-six drops of golden divine liquid in the void — their fragrance overwhelming. All of the rich, heady scent had emanated from these alone. Every drop was like a golden pearl — radiant beyond measure.
“The Immortality Medicine expelled the essence-blood of its dragon fruit — it’s suffered a great depletion this time. What do you expect, for causing all that provocation? Serves you right.” The Black Emperor burst out laughing.
Ye Fan collected all the golden liquid drops, sealed the cauldron lid, and the fragrance vanished. This was the most essential part of the Immortality Medicine — its value beyond all estimation.
Once before, he had used a portion of the True Dragon Divine Medicine’s essence to bring the peerless divine king back from the brink of death.
“Move quickly!” Ye Fan said. Their harvest was more than sufficient. If they lingered any longer, something unexpected was bound to happen.
With the help of the Void Emperor’s formation array, they traversed the void and swiftly arrived at the battlefield ahead. By now the cave walls were stained red with blood — flesh and bone fragments everywhere.
“Senior, come this way!” Ye Fan transmitted a secret message to the Queen Mother of the West, then called out to the Wind Race’s Sacred Master as well.
“Roar…”
A roar shook the heavens. Primordial creatures that had almost taken human form moved with world-dominating ferocity, fighting through the ancient caves — forcing all the great masters to have their long robes soaked in blood.
Some cultivators at the level of supreme elders fell one after another. This place was like a realm of slaughter — a sight too gruesome to behold.
Of course, no small number of primordial creatures had perished as well. Everyone who had appeared in this place was a powerful figure from one region or another. Not a single weakling was among them, and all had extraordinary means.
The Queen Mother of the West and the Wind Race’s Sacred Master charged toward them in succession. In a flash of light, they vanished from where they had stood. Though the corner of the ancient great emperor’s formation array was pitifully damaged, here it was unbound by restrictions — and in an instant, they were carried far from the Ten Thousand Dragons’ Nest.
It wasn’t very long before their eyes brightened. They burst out from within absolute void and arrived in the midst of a green oasis.
“What a catastrophic disaster!” The Wind Race’s Sacred Master gave a long sigh.
“I must return to the Jade Pool and retrieve the divine city seal-token to rescue the other fellow cultivators.” The Queen Mother of the West spoke.
“This junior’s heart is willing, but his strength falls short. I prepared for a very long time before being able to activate the formation array by the barest of chances, and I was unable to rescue those others — a regret that weighs on me.”
Ye Fan’s face showed not a trace of embarrassment, and his heart beat without the slightest quickening. He clasped his hands in salute, and in a flash of light, he and the Great Black Dog and the Ape were gone.
Without needing to think about it, he knew this catastrophic disaster was sure to shake all under heaven — and he would inevitably be thrust to the forefront, becoming the center of all attention.
He had no desire to return to the Jade Pool. He would rather miss the Peach Banquet held once every five hundred years than fail to go into seclusion at once.
“Head to the small town two thousand li from the Jade Pool.” Ye Fan spoke — he needed to go and collect Xiao Nannan.
Going to the Ten Thousand Dragons’ Nest had been far too dangerous. He had not allowed Li Heishui and the others to come along, and had arranged to meet them in that small town to make their retreat together.
“Little Ye Fan, you’ve come. You didn’t really trap all of those people in there, did you?!” Li Heishui stepped forward, asking in astonishment.
“What could I do — they forced my hand.” Ye Fan spread his hands.
“Heavens — Ye the Black, you’ve truly stirred up enormous trouble. If all of those people die, there won’t be a single place in all of the Eastern Desolation that will shelter you,” Jiang Huairen called out.
“It won’t come to all of them dying — some had more than enough strength to search the Ten Thousand Dragons’ Nest for immortal treasures.”
“You can still smile about it? Even if only a single Sacred Master dies, it’ll be a great earthquake — it’ll set off huge waves,” Wu Zhongtian said.
“Nothing to be done — the Sacred Master of Wanchu has already been destroyed in body and soul…” At this point, Ye Fan paused, and said: “Where is Nannan?”
“She was held back by the elder patriarch of the Yin Yang Sect — he wouldn’t let us bring her out of the Jade Pool!” Liu Kou said with resentment, helpless as he felt.
“What?” Ye Fan was alarmed.
The elder patriarch of the Yin Yang Sect was nearing the end of his lifespan. He had once gone to the primordial forbidden zone seeking a method to extend his life, and had chosen to withdraw after witnessing the incomparable sovereign of the Ancient Hua Imperial Dynasty reduced to ash.
Ye Fan had killed that sect’s Sacred Son and Sacred Daughter, leaving between himself and them a cause and effect of immense magnitude. Now, hearing that Xiao Nannan had been detained by them, he was naturally filled with anxiety.
“Don’t worry — at the Jade Pool they wouldn’t dare act rashly. Nannan won’t be in any real danger…”
The elders of Li Heishui and the others had learned what was truly going on and had naturally not followed them to the Ten Thousand Dragons’ Nest. They had remained at the Jade Pool alongside many extraordinary and unusual individuals — and with those people present, Nannan would not come to any great harm.
Half a day later, news of the catastrophic disaster at the Ten Thousand Dragons’ Nest spread, shaking all of the world. The entire expanse of the Eastern Desolation trembled!
The supreme Sacred Master of Wanchu had fallen — body and soul obliterated, leaving nothing behind. The moment this news broke, it sent shockwaves through everything.
The deputy patriarch of the Yin Yang Sect — a supreme great power of the Central Province’s supreme great school, the one who would soon succeed the elder patriarch’s position — was reduced to ash.
The own younger brother of the patriarch of the Northern Plains’ Golden Family — a great power of boundless promise — had sunk forever into the Ten Thousand Dragons’ Nest, never to emerge.
The Sacred Master of the Eastern Desolation’s Purple Palace had been nearly crippled, a single head all that was carried out, the rest of his body pulverized to a paste by the primordial creatures.
Moreover, from the Five Elements Palace, the True Demon Hall, the Misty Peak… a total of six great masters had fallen!
And those at the level of supreme elder had perished in even greater numbers. Every great sect had suffered a blow; blood had soaked through the Ten Thousand Dragons’ Nest!
It shook the heavens and moved the earth — the entire world was astonished. Everyone stood with mouths agape, hearts shaking violently. How many years had it been since a disaster of this magnitude had occurred? That so many great masters could die in a single event.
“What in the world happened? Does anyone know the details?”
“Why did so many great masters fall? I hear it has something to do with the Sacred Physique Ye Fan — unclear whether that’s true or not!”
When news of this magnitude broke, shaking the world to its core, people had not yet truly grasped the full details. All were asking around.
“Little Ye Fan — you’ve truly made a name for yourself now. Your name is destined to resound across all the world!”
