Chapter 1254: A Heap of Bones on the Emperor’s Path

Jun Wei Mountain Lord wore his violet-gold crown and his Qilin battle robe. Immortal energy swirled around him. With each opening and closing of his eyes, two sharp beams of light shot outward.

“Boom!”

Those two points of light expanded rapidly โ€” surging like a flood that swept the sky, a violet cloud boiling upward, swallowing Ye Fan’s position like a stretch of the Milky Way.

The great battle had begun, exploding in an instant!

This was a peculiar eye technique. Jun Wei Mountain Lord’s gaze was exceptionally unusual โ€” capable of releasing an aura that could slay the virtuous and defeat the saintly.

“Heaven and earth grow old, oceans dry and stones wear away โ€” a single glance spans ten thousand years!” Near-demonic words rang out. Jun Wei Mountain Lord’s hair flew wild; his pupils became the source of violet light. His entire form was towering and immense, standing erect in the high sky above.

The thunder of it was unceasing. Ye Fan felt as though he was being invaded by the force of time โ€” a terrifying energy spreading around him, relentlessly cutting into his life span, as though in a single breath it had stripped thousands of years of life force from him.

“The power of time? How can this be possible?!” Long Ma was stunned. Time was a strange and extraordinary substance โ€” it was because of its existence that no one could live forever, and few could ever touch that domain.

Yet Jun Wei Mountain Lord had called upon this forbidden force, sending a wave of shock through everyone. Who could resist time? Even if you were a Great Saint, in the end you would eventually sit in stillness within the river of time.

Ye Fan’s heart hammered. The swirling violet energy and the boiling radiance were all slashing at his physical body, making him feel as though he would age ten thousand years on the spot.

“Boom!”

His golden sacred domain unfolded. He sent his form into motion, evolving the golden Taiji circle โ€” making himself the dragon-shaped curve, with the power of the Grand Yin and the Grand Yang flowing through him, two points of equilibrium emerging.

A dragon’s roar rang out. Ye Fan carried the golden circle upward, his form becoming an undying beam of immortal light, crashing toward Jun Wei Mountain Lord.

An unbroken series of thunderous impacts. Dozens upon hundreds of exchanges in an instant, both of them moving with extreme speed. In the blink of an eye they had exchanged several hundred blows. The violet light was scattered and broken.

Ye Fan retreated. The sensation of his life span being drained away by the ages had vanished โ€” everything had returned to normal. He revealed a faint, cold smile.

This was not the power of time. Rather, it was a peculiar divine energy capable of eroding the wheel of life โ€” soundless and intangible, capable of striking a person down without their ever knowing.

But its effect on him was minimal. The sacred body’s blood and energy were vigorous and robust โ€” they expelled it in an instant, shielding him from the outside and dissolving the crisis.

He could not help but acknowledge that those who walked the ancient path among the stars each had their own unique qualities. At the very least, many of the secret techniques encountered were things never heard or seen before โ€” extraordinarily rare.

The heroes clashed. The strongest emerged from across the entire universe. Having endured boundless hardship and the tempering of countless battles, this was surely one of the essential elements in proving the Dao and becoming an Emperor.

“This lord can only watch? How unbearable,” Long Ma said with discontent โ€” though it made no move to act on its own, remaining at a distance to observe the battle.

Jun Wei Mountain Lord stood as solid as a mountain, as towering as a peak. He gazed at Ye Fan for a long time, then let out a long breath, and proceeded to unleash a far more fearsome assault.

Every manner of divine light flew โ€” all of it wondrous technique. Any single one, when deployed, would shake the immortals and move the gods. Were it not for the ancient formations of the trial grounds providing their seals, this entire stretch of ancient land would certainly have been shattered open.

“Boom!”

All the great mountains within a thousand li were uprooted as though they were stalks of straw and sent crashing into the depths of broader mountain ranges. Others exploded directly in midair.

Jun Wei Mountain Lord’s every motion was in accord with heaven and earth. The force he wielded was the power of the Great Dao. Violet light coiled around him โ€” like a dragon in flight.

“Six Gods’ Slash!”

Six divine blades suddenly appeared before Jun Wei Mountain Lord. Each one stretched ten thousand zhang in length โ€” like a mountain range laid on its side, or a cluster of gathered stars โ€” resplendent and brilliant.

At the same time, a boundless ancient killing energy spread across the sky, seeping out from each of those six divine blades as though six divine beings had been resurrected.

“Strike!”

Jun Wei Mountain Lord issued a light command. The six divine blades, carrying the power to slash apart the sun, moon, and stars, swept one after another toward Ye Fan โ€” sundering the universe.

“Roar…!”

Ye Fan let out a long howl. His golden blood energy swept across thousands of li โ€” like a tsunami coiling upward to the sky. He was a demon god cutting across heaven and earth.

It was a world-shaking battle. The divine blades flashed; the fierce winds split the sky. Ye Fan and Jun Wei Mountain Lord became two bolts of lightning tangled together, fighting in savage, intense combat.

Ten exchanges, fifty… a hundred!

Few were those who could sustain more than a hundred blows against Ye Fan โ€” and yet Jun Wei Mountain Lord was fighting him blow for blow. He was a rarely-seen formidable cultivator.

Crack!

Ye Fan kicked apart a blade arc and burst upward ten full li, the ancient syllable “Om” rolling out like thunder โ€” like the terrifying waves of an entire star domain shattering. Every divine blade was destroyed. Mountains and rivers became ash. The battlefield was left bare and stripped.

Jun Wei Mountain Lord’s disheveled hair flew in all directions. The light shooting from his pupils was bone-piercingly cold. He struck out repeatedly in heavy exchanges, fighting Ye Fan in brutal combat, his whole body’s blood and essence boiling. From the crown of his head shot a column of blood shaped like a true dragon โ€” a hair-raising sight!

Ye Fan was undaunted, evolving the Battle Saint Technique โ€” meeting power with power, meeting ferocity with ferocity. It was a savage battle between two forces. The two of them fought until the stars lost their color and the sun and moon lost their light.

Crack!

Jun Wei Mountain Lord’s violet-gold crown exploded apart. His hair flew loose, like a divine demon โ€” not one step below Ye Fan. They fought until the mountains collapsed and the seas roared, their battle cries shaking the trial grounds.

The two of them clashed and cut in savage exchange, chilling the hearts of the four watching from a distance.

“The Dao โ€” source of all things, beginning of the cosmos, spanning all of antiquity and all that is to come, encompassing all four directions and all above and below โ€” all of it lies within the Dao.”

Jun Wei Mountain Lord shouted, then retreated a sufficient distance and sat cross-legged in the void. His entire body steamed with wisps of violet energy, his bearing serene and venerable.

Suddenly, from between his brows a violet-colored little figure burst forth โ€” clad in battle armor, emanating terrifying divine might, identical to him in appearance. In its hands it held a violet-gold war halberd, looking both martial and awe-inspiring.

A soul weapon!

Ye Fan was startled. Both the violet crystal war armor and the halberd had been forged specifically for a primordial spirit โ€” endowed with special divine properties, designed specifically to slay the primordial spirit.

“Whoosh!”

That violet little figure charged forward. With each opening and closing of its eyes, cold electricity pierced the air โ€” utterly intimidating. The violet-gold war halberd in its hands emitted a vibration that would cause the primordial spirit to nearly collapse. Its speed surpassed every limit.

Ye Fan revealed a flicker of surprise. The soul technique Jun Wei Mountain Lord cultivated bore some resemblance to his own โ€” disregarding physical distance, instantly striking to slay another’s primordial spirit.

In that split second, a flash of divine light appeared before Ye Fan’s brow. A golden little figure burst out, above its head a suspended cauldron holding the primal energy of all things, in its hand a Divine Punishment Whip.

“Clang” โ€” “zing”…!

A golden one and a violet one โ€” two little figures no bigger than a fist, more blazing and swift than lightning โ€” clashed again and again in rapid collision, sending out blinding light. The waves of impact were devastating beyond measure.

A thousand li away, some ferocious birds and savage beasts could not withstand the spiritual pressure โ€” their primordial spirits shattered outright. This was a peculiar ripple effect, its destructive power shockingly vast.

Behind them, the four powerful cultivators who commanded the primordial magnetic immortal light all turned pale, raising the formation diagram and transforming into magnetic forms, barely managing to block the terrifying spiritual waves.

Clang!

In the fierce exchange, the violet little figure’s war halberd snapped in two โ€” cut into three segments by Ye Fan through the Battle Saint Technique. At the same moment, the Divine Punishment Whip in hand smashed apart a section of its battle armor.

“Boom!”

A flood of violet light surged skyward. Jun Wei Mountain Lord’s primordial spirit fled โ€” the golden little figure gave hot pursuit, refusing to let him escape completely.

A powerful sacred weapon blocked the path, buying time for the violet little figure to return to its physical body and retreat to a safe distance.

Ye Fan’s primordial spirit was blocked and chose not to press the pursuit โ€” it returned immediately to the physical body. Blood and energy surged to the sky as he stood sovereign over the Thirty-Seventh Zone.

“Chaos!”

Jun Wei Mountain Lord’s expression was stern. He uttered only those two words โ€” and around him, a hazy mist immediately began to flow. Chaos surged outward.

He commanded a portion of the laws of Chaos โ€” profoundly fearsome. This touched upon the power that had opened heaven and earth itself, calling upon the force of an entire world for his own use, pressing down to suppress Ye Fan.

“Break!”

Ye Fan blazed with light from every part of his being. Ancient stars flowed through his bloodstream; rivers of the Milky Way ran through his marrow โ€” as though he had become a divine being, every inch of flesh and blood a treasure-vault. All of them opened now.

Jun Wei Mountain Lord attacked with the power of heaven and earth’s creation. Ye Fan opened the gates of his body’s treasure-vaults one by one, drawing that creative power inward.

The two forces melded freely, forming a terrifying equilibrium!

Jun Wei Mountain Lord poured out his power freely โ€” wielding his fearsome laws and divine techniques in the attempt to destroy Ye Fan. Yet that place was like a bottomless pit: no matter how much was poured in, it could not be filled.

“Aaah…!” Jun Wei Mountain Lord spat blood โ€” he could no longer sustain this level of consumption.

Ye Fan said coolly: “You can open a small stretch of heaven and earth โ€” then I can refine a small piece of the cosmos. I borrow your divine technique to temper my indestructible body!”

“Boom!”

Jun Wei Mountain Lord was sent flying, his body covered in blood. They had fought eight hundred exchanges โ€” and finally, he had been defeated, gravely wounded.

“Together โ€” kill him!” The four behind him saw this and charged together. The formation diagram reappeared. Primordial magnetic immortal light shot forth in merciless sweeping strikes.

Long Ma moved to step in โ€” Ye Fan stopped it. He would face all five alone. The more he fought, the more vigorous he became. He first tore apart the incomplete laws of Chaos, then swept through the four in a horizontal charge.

“Strike!”

By this point Jun Wei Mountain Lord had also put every last ounce of divine power into the fight, doing all he could, resorting to any means necessary to cut Ye Fan down.

In his left hand he held a violet bronze shield; in his right, a divine blood spear โ€” both sacred weapons. He burned the full potential of his body, his blood energy piercing through sun and moon, boiling to a head and swallowing this entire place.

The four behind him held their formation, also deploying forbidden weapons โ€” every one of them with life essence shooting to the sky, fighting in a battle that shattered heaven and earth, throwing everything into the contest to grind Ye Fan down.

It was a supreme collision โ€” a conquest of blood and fire. The shackles on Ye Fan’s hands and feet rang as they clashed, one hundred million jin of weight, which did affect his battle power when facing such formidable enemies.

Yet his physical body had been tempered to a degree without parallel โ€” divinely brave and unmatched. He gradually ceased to regard the shackles as a burden at all.

“Strike!”

Both sides roared to shatter the sky. Every single blow could break mountains and rivers for ten thousand li!

“Roar…!”

Ye Fan let out a long howl. Golden battle energy swallowed one person whole โ€” his fist punched straight through, and that man let out a furious, unwilling howl before exploding into bloody ruin.

“Aaah…!”

The other three went red-eyed. They surged in madly, fighting Ye Fan with everything they had โ€” in a storm of flying blood they gave expression to cruelty and tragic valor.

Jun Wei Mountain Lord, his hair long since flying in chaos, had also shed all composure and calm. He roared, thrusting forward with his divine blood war spear.

In that moment, Ye Fan threw out a punch that moved heaven and earth and drew the grief of gods โ€” a brilliant, stunning blow. His golden fist drove clean through the violet bronze shield in Jun Wei Mountain Lord’s left hand โ€” shattering it into four pieces!

The force spread outward. Not only was Jun Wei Mountain Lord’s left arm broken โ€” his entire left side was convulsing, with an untold number of bones fractured.

What was most staggering was this โ€” Ye Fan seized the divine blood war spear with a single grab and, using both arms, snapped it in two. Two sharp sounds rang out. He shook the broken spear sections free and launched them forward as projectiles. Two people cried out, falling backward into pools of blood โ€” each with a hole driven through their forehead, blood spraying, dead where they fell.

Ye Fan swept through all enemies, wielding the Six Paths Reincarnation Fist. He and Jun Wei Mountain Lord exchanged dozens more blows โ€” and finally Jun Wei Mountain Lord could hold on no longer. Both arms cracked apart inch by inch; the lower half of his body was blasted to ruin. What remained of his upper half went flying, crashing into a pool of blood.

Ye Fan stood like a demon god, treading upon the blood and bones of his enemies!
