Atop the towering divine altar, the dozen or so young paramounts stood tall, each with extraordinary bearing—some with auras swallowing the galaxy, others suppressing heaven and earth, each one extraordinary.
Among them were Sage Spirits, descendants of primordial demon gods, bloodlines of the gods, and Sacred Blood physiques—coming from different ancient realms, each the strongest of their own respective ancient roads.
Such people were all proud and arrogant, supreme and unrivaled, harboring the ambition of a Great Emperor within their hearts. None would bow their head to another—as fellow young paramounts of this generation, who would fear whom?!
Sanggu, Xin Lan, Ye Fan, the Bronze Ant King, the Earth Corpse, the Sky-Devouring Ancient Beast… each one looked down upon the world with disdain, gazing proudly upon the assembled heroes, none willing to retreat.
“Let’s exchange the strongest ancient blood,” the Gold-Devouring Beast said. His entire body was a bluish color, a metallic ancient beast, ferocious in appearance, supremely powerful.
Strands of rosy light appeared upon the divine altar as everyone opened their palms, revealing their respective collections. Instantly, surging streams of blood-energy rose skyward.
The strongest ancient bloods—their number exceeded ten!
Each represented a glory, once supremely powerful in ages past, having made countless realms throughout the heavens tremble. Now, the ancient blood-energy surged like billowing smoke signals, shaking this entire stretch of starry sky.
In Ye Fan’s palm rested a fist-sized ball of blood, black light flickering, accompanied by flashes of lightning and rolling thunder, an imposing spectacle, blood-energy surging skyward.
This was blood refined from the Ten-thousand-legged Demon Spider—such a massive ancient spider, positioned at the Sage King realm, yet only able to refine a fist-sized portion of ancestral blood. One could imagine just how terrifying its ancestors must have been.
In the hand of Sanggu, descendant of the primordial demon gods, rested a ball of blue blood, like an enormous gemstone, a dreamlike, intoxicating blue, an awe-inspiring ancient blood radiating undying power.
And in the Gold-Devouring Beast’s hand was silver-colored blood, like a hanging river of stars, silver radiance dripping from between his fingers, extraordinarily sacred and serene.
Everyone gasped in astonishment—not to mention anything else, the blood in just these three palms alone was enough to shock the world, all being among the strongest ancient bloods. In that ancient past, these ancestors had once dominated heaven and earth, capable of contending even with the gods!
“The Ten-thousand-legged Demon Spider is a genuine primordial demon god—unfortunately, now only descendants remain; no pure-blooded ancient spider has appeared again!”
“That blue blood belongs to some ancient phoenix-bird from ages past!”
“Could that… silver blood… could it have been refined from some demonic entity?”
People understood that the blood in their hands was all the result of refinement—nowadays, it was almost impossible to find pure-blooded creatures of those lineages remaining. Otherwise, no one could have obtained it this way.
The strongest ancient bloods were not merely named in vain—certain ancient ancestors had once opened magnificently brilliant eras. Had their bloodlines remained pure, such races could never have become prey; they would only have been the ones hunting others!
The Second Golden Serpent Lord’s mouth curled into a cold, cruel smile as he directly produced a crystalline white skull, resembling that of the Human Race, but upon closer inspection, not quite the same. This skull was rather crude, its brow ridge, cheekbones, and jaw all rather pronounced, resembling an ape-man, not a true member of the Human Race.
“Pat!”
The Second Golden Serpent Lord struck the crown of the skull, and instantly, brilliant golden-tinged blood flowed from its seven orifices, white streaked with pale gold, like starlight gathered together, extraordinarily magnificent.
He opened his mouth and drank in a portion of the ancient blood, his expression one of intoxication, the blood on his lips and pristine white teeth making him appear especially horrifying, somewhat chilling to behold.
“This is the strongest ancestral blood of the Arm-Stretching Divine Ape lineage. It’s said their ancestors were, alongside the Battling Sage Ape and the Six-Eared Macaque, among the strongest heaven-and-earth divine apes, not bound by the Five Elements! Unfortunately, the Battling Sage Ape and the Six-Eared Macaque vanished long ago, and even in ancient times there were very few of them. As for this Arm-Stretching Divine Ape lineage, their blood has long since become impure as well.”
The Second Golden Serpent Lord took another sip of the ape blood, as if savoring the world’s most exquisite delicacy—that cold, cruel gaze combined with his expression of enjoyment left onlookers chilled to the bone.
The Sky-Devouring Ancient Beast opened his palm, revealing a ball of green blood, like emerald will-o’-the-wisps dancing, radiating a terrifying pulse. Some who recognized it were horrified—this was the blood of a ghost-spirit!
The Earth Corpse produced a crystal, within which a strand of Buddha-blood was sealed, golden and dazzling—a remnant left behind from his previous life. His current blood had long since turned black, entirely different now.
The Divine Race’s celestial maiden Xin Lan extended a finger, the starry river glittering, carrying an aura of creation and genesis, strands of primordial mist spreading outward, terrifying beyond measure.
“What?!” Everyone cried out in shock, faces filled with astonishment.
At her fingertip was a crystal ball, and within it, the sealed blood crackled with lightning and thunder, as if an entire world were evolving within, primordial mist swirling, vast and boundless.
“Could this… could this be primordial chaos blood… does such a person exist in this world?!” People were shocked, deeply moved.
“It’s long been said that someone carrying primordial chaos blood within their veins once appeared in the deepest reaches of the Human Race’s ancient road. No wonder the Divine Race’s celestial maiden walks the Human Race’s ancient road—she’s been searching for that person! Could she have already killed them?”
The appearance of primordial chaos blood stirred up an enormous sensation.
People marveled—this truly was a golden age, that even primordial chaos blood, spoken of only in mythical legends, had actually appeared. It was truly astonishing.
“I encountered a living being—not of the Human Race, nor of the Divine Race—who carried only a trace of diluted primordial chaos blood within them. I’m afraid I must disappoint you all.” The Divine Race’s celestial maiden Xin Lan said.
She had slain an extraordinarily powerful humanoid creature, but it was not truly of pure primordial chaos bloodline. Having refined the blood from its entire body, she had ultimately only obtained a single strand of impure primordial chaos ancestral blood.
The dozen or so young paramounts each presented their own hunted strongest ancient blood in turn, sharing one thing in common—all were extracted ancestral blood; no one had killed a pure-blooded ancestral creature. Otherwise, who could say who would have killed whom?
Among them were some who themselves possessed pure-blooded, supremely strong bloodlines, yet no one offered up their own blood, fearing others might study it and uncover their own secrets and weaknesses.
Everyone exchanged blood, each drop appearing precious, related directly to whether they could enter the mythic ancient road. The dozen or so young paramounts upon the divine altar all wore solemn expressions.
In the end, the fist-sized portion of Ten-thousand-legged Demon Spider blood in Ye Fan’s hand was reduced to only part of its original amount, exchanged for over a dozen equally terrifying types of blood, each flickering with different radiance.
“This kind of thing is a supreme treasure. If brought back to the Eternal Stellar Region, it could certainly help research some fragments of Great Dao laws, perhaps even extract some inheritance hidden within the blood,” Ye Fan sighed softly—there was no turning back now.
Their group departed the True Phoenix Tower, beginning preparations for entering the mythic ancient road.
Many more powerful warriors were unwilling to leave. Without the ten strongest ancient bloods, they too wished to enter the mythic ancient road, and now could only pledge themselves to the dozen or so young paramounts.
The city fell into chaos, every race restless, with bloody battles occasionally breaking out. The city remained far from peaceful.
“It’s not just the dozen or so young paramounts who can enter the mythic ancient road. The Overlord, Immortal Maiden Qingshi, and the Human King could all have taken a place upon the divine altar, yet none of them appeared. They must each have their own plans,” Ye Fan remarked.
With the ten types of ancient blood now assembled, they could already advance, yet all the heroes present remained cautious, still making preparations.
Ye Fan’s group naturally continued preparing for battle as well, conducting the most thorough investigations, seeking verification about the mythic era’s Nine-Tiered Coffin and the Tree of Life, in every possible detail.
Because these two things carried enormous significance—who knew how many eyes were watching. If the information proved false, if this turned out to be some trap, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Such things had happened before. Years ago, Prince Dao Yi had, in the Eternal Stellar Region, buried the Great Sage Flame Qilin in a trap, driving the ancient prince of the Flame Unicorn Cave to madness with grief, forced to flee the Eternal Region, his whereabouts unknown to this day.
“This matter… could it possibly be related to Dao Yi again?” Ye Fan murmured to himself. The Tree of Life was the immortality elixir once possessed by Dao Yi’s father, holding special significance for him.
Ye Fan considered carefully and concluded it likely had nothing to do with Dao Yi. This person’s character was not one for showing off—years ago, it was only to protect the Eternal Region, when ancient clans had brought their armies to its gates, severely threatening its safety, that Dao Yi had resorted to ruthless measures. There would be no reason now to offend so many young paramounts.
“It’s not false—this stellar region truly does have the Tree of Life. On the mythic ancient road, a native once broke free clutching a branch of the Tree of Life, his entire body drenched in blood, arriving at the Golden Ancient Road. It’s been confirmed that the branch was freshly broken from the mother tree!” Pang Bo returned with this evidence.
Ye Fan nodded, analyzing the various circumstances together with Pang Bo, becoming convinced this wasn’t a trap. And even if it truly were one, they possessed sufficient means to protect themselves and withdraw.
“Do we really need the ten strongest ancient bloods to open the mythic ancient road? Is this true?” Pang Bo asked doubtfully, thinking of Yao Guang, feeling somewhat uneasy.
Could this person be planning some grand, world-shaking scheme—intending to devour the ten strongest ancient bloods? If that were true, it would be far too terrifying.
Long Ma quickly returned with news, confirmed by the Human Race’s Dao Protectors—the mythic ancient road truly did need to be opened this way, with various types of ancient blood poured upon the sacrificial altar, in order to open the path and set foot upon this road.
“Hmm, it seems everything checks out.” Ye Fan’s gaze grew profound as he looked toward the starry sky, contemplating deeply for a long while.
As for the mythic era’s Nine-Tiered Coffin, they had already confirmed it through the Ten-thousand-legged Demon Spider’s sea of consciousness—the spider had personally witnessed a divine coffin from the ninth heaven entering this stellar region and had pursued it here.
The other young paramounts also conducted their own thorough verification, expending tremendous effort and energy—even the most arrogant among them had personally gone to confirm matters themselves.
This was not something that could be handled carelessly; there could be no room for error.
The Gold-Devouring Beast, Sanggu, the Divine Race, the Sky-Devouring Ancient Beast, the Bronze Ant King, the Sage Spirits, and others all set out on their journeys one after another, each accompanied by a great number of followers—those who had pledged themselves, wishing to travel alongside them.
The Golden Ancient City suddenly grew desolate. Over eighty percent of the people had already set out, entering the mythic ancient road, stepping into the most mysterious ancient region.
“Let’s go. It’s time for us to depart as well,” Ye Fan’s group said.
Only on the Golden Ancient Road could such an ancient altar be found, now extremely rare in number, with only a few remaining, located within different Golden Ancient Cities.
The Mythic Altar appeared to be cast from the corpses of gods and demons, its shape bizarre, actually engraved with images of fallen corpses—gods collapsing, blood flowing in rivers, the sun falling, the moon destroyed, the myriad stars of heaven shattering.
Upon this ancient altar, such imagery left people terrified, shocked—this was the first time Ye Fan’s group had ever seen anything like it.
Time was like a blade; after such a vast span of years, the ancient altar bore countless weathered traces. When the ten types of ancient blood were poured out, the ancient engraved images seemed to come alive—the fallen corpses appeared to revive, the gods roaring, the sun destroyed, the stars falling.
This was a terrifying spectacle, vast and boundless!
With a rumbling boom, before Ye Fan’s group could observe further, they vanished from where they stood, transported by the ancient altar onto the mythic ancient road, setting foot upon the most mysterious ancient realm.
