“You are not the Female Emperor — you are nothing but a weapon!” the Heavenly Blade said. Its light blazed in full force, yet it did not immediately attack — it was testing.

The woman made no sound. She raised her left hand — on one slender, graceful finger was a finger ring, forged from bronze, very plain. It was not an immortal treasure, yet she cherished it extraordinarily.

She lowered her head and looked at that finger ring. A special light appeared in her eyes — and after a long, long time, it dimmed once more. There was reluctance — there was bleakness — making all who watched feel a trembling in their hearts, a heartbreak.

Clang!

The Undying Heavenly Blade erupted with sky-soaring immortal radiance. Killing intent multiplied a hundred-millionfold — like rivers bursting their banks, like the sea breaking free of its dikes, like the starry sky collapsing. Rumbling and thundering. Blazing lightning swallowed the cosmos.

The Undying Heavenly Blade flew backward. In the blink of an eye it vanished from this place, hovering in the vast canopy of heaven. It was shocked — it had sensed a trace of danger. This weapon could threaten it.

The Female Emperor lightly smoothed her hair. The bronze mask was ice-cold, yet her face beneath was gentle — a contradictory pairing. Her features, though veiled, were entrancing — only the lower jaw and eyes visible, so very captivating. Yet the ghost-face mask was utterly devoid of life energy.

Time passed, dust covered the earth everywhere. Twenty-some tens of thousands of years’ worth of age were enough to bury all things — yet she could still remain in the mortal world, watching this world of dust and recalling events of the past like wisps of smoke.

Her eyes held bewilderment, held sorrow, held bleakness. She gazed toward the Northern Dipper star region, looking deep into the starry cosmos. Seas had changed to mulberry fields — everything was different now. Even galaxy after galaxy had collapsed beyond counting.
