Chapter 1030: The Tense Moment Arrives

“Yes, Grandfather passed on everything he’d learned in his entire life to me!”

Meng Duo’er looked Meng Wanyue straight in the eye, answering without the slightest hesitation. Her talent was good, but it didn’t actually surpass Fourth Aunt’s — if not for her grandfather’s month of seclusion helping her, there was no way she could have reached the second floor of the Momentary Tower in such a short time!

“He… he, I want to see him!” Meng Wanyue was consumed with fury, unable to accept this fact. Her father had always doted on her most, had always thought most highly of her!

How could he pass down everything he’d learned in his entire life to some wretched girl instead?

“Fourth Aunt, Grandfather wants to see you too — but he says you need to go back to the Dream Clan to see him,” Meng Duo’er said earnestly, stepping closer to Meng Wanyue. In truth, deep down, she was still quite frightened of this aunt of hers — if she hadn’t been certain Meng Wanyue was fully restrained, she wouldn’t have dared show herself at all!

Grandfather had given her a heavy, heavy task for this trip!

“Fourth Aunt, you lied — you deceived everyone, you even deceived Grandfather. I showed Grandfather everything about the secret on the second floor of the Momentary Tower — the Dream Clan’s ancestors colluded with the Isolated Isle’s Great Gu Master, the Dagger of Flowing Light was forged from the flesh and scales of thousands of Silver Jiao beneath the Innocent Abyss, crafted by our founding ancestor specifically to break the Death Barrier of the poison-beast world!”

Looking at Meng Wanyue, Meng Duo’er’s clear eyes held no hatred — only overflowing fury!

The matter of the Isolated Isle, in truth, had very little to do with her personally!

But what enraged her was this aunt of hers, who had deceived even the people closest to her!

Deceiving her own father, her own clan — even deceiving her own son, her own daughter-in-law, her own grandson!

“Fourth Aunt, you wanted to cultivate ren-gu, didn’t you! You’re too cruel!” Meng Duo’er scolded sharply. Growing up, everything she’d known about her fourth aunt had come from her father — but now, she genuinely hoped her father would never learn the full truth.

Her father, though he too wished for the Dream Clan’s strength, would never possess the same viper’s heart as her fourth aunt!

Exposed with nothing left to say, Meng Wanyue no longer even tried to argue.

She had failed. Utterly, completely failed.

She stared blankly at Meng Duo’er, and the one thing that ate at her most was something else entirely.

“You wretched girl — can you really perform an instant seal?”

“Didn’t you see it with your own eyes? Aren’t you experiencing it firsthand right now?” Meng Duo’er shot back.

Meng Wanyue clenched her teeth so hard her jaw ached, hatred and jealousy burning in her eyes as though she wanted to tear Meng Duo’er to pieces — a look terrifying enough to chill the blood.

But no matter how venomous her glare, it could never pierce through this barrier.

An instant seal — only the one who cast it could ever break it.

Meng Wanyue slumped to the ground in utter defeat, her gaze glazed and unfocused, her whole being reduced to nothing.

At this point, Ziqing finally spoke up quietly. “The Dream Clan leader, actually…”

Ziqing didn’t finish the sentence, but everyone understood — the Dream Clan leader had never trusted this daughter of his, not even a little, which was exactly why he’d passed down everything he’d learned in his life to Meng Duo’er instead.

Good.

Sending Meng Wanyue back to the Dream Clan, imprisoning her there, was clearly the best possible choice.

Ziqing couldn’t bear to imagine Meng Wanyue dying at Baili Weisheng’s hand, or what it would do to Jun Beiyue to watch it happen.

She was, after all, his own blood.

At this point, Baili Weisheng finally sidled over, clearing his throat a few times, and said, “Ziqing… let’s save my mother first.”

This guy — why not just say it to Meng Duo’er directly?

“I can’t do it. She can,” Ziqing said with a smile.

“What?” Meng Wanyue, confused, turned to look at Baili Weisheng — she’d been so dizzy from holding her breath moments ago that she hadn’t caught on to his deliberate little trick at all.

And as for that certain incident back in the capital — there was no reason it would suddenly, randomly cross her mind now.

Baili Weisheng arched an eyebrow at her, entirely nonchalant. “The barrier on the stone pillar — didn’t you see it?”

“The stone pillar?”

Only then did Meng Duo’er look carefully at the pillar before her, and only then did she realize it was a barrier, trapping someone within!

No wonder — when she’d slammed into it earlier, she’d thought she’d heard someone scolding a son.

Meng Duo’er hurried closer. Madam Jinjiao, who had been waiting silently all this while, couldn’t help but grow tense with anticipation!

Thirty years of waiting — however long that had been, none of it compared to the length of this single, fleeting moment.
