An He Zhuan: Act Twelve – Chapter 7

“Poison mist opens the ghost gate, the path of talismans reveals true fire.” In the distance, a thin man in black robes coldly observed the scene – it was Ghost Physician Ye Ya.

A short, stout middle-aged man stood beside him, sneering, “They say the Dark River Mu Family excels in occult arts – these rumors prove true indeed. If we hadn’t gathered intelligence beforehand, we wouldn’t have been able to deal with them.”

“Brother Fulu speaks too soon,” Ye Ya coldly laughed. “You may have ambushed them in advance, but the current situation isn’t in your favor.”

Within the poison mist, the lead black-clothed figure shouted: “Form the formation!”

“Yes!” The others responded, retreating to the four corners to surround Mu Qingyang and Mu Xuewei. They each threw out a black stone that burst into violent flames mid-flight, flashing red before dissipating. Though Mu Xuewei’s poison mist was torn open, another black poisonous fog gradually closed in around the two.

“This is the Tang Clan’s Four Directions Black Water Formation,” said Mu Qingyang, his talisman sword slashing at a tendril of poison mist, sending it flying back.

“Using poison against the Poison Flower – how laughable.” Mu Xuewei snorted coldly. She pressed her palms together forcefully, and a small white flower flew out from her chest garment, spinning gently before her. The black poison mist began swirling and condensing, gathering before her.

“Remarkable,” Ye Ya’s eyes widened.

Tang Fulu was equally surprised: “This woman has refined her poison arts to such an exquisite level.”

“Poison arts? It goes far beyond that,” Ye Ya shook his head. “What comes next should prove even more interesting.”

As his words fell, Mu Xuewei took a deep breath, inhaling all the poison mist before her. She closed her eyes as purple qi emerged from her crown, quickly dissipating.

“This…” Everyone present stared wide-eyed, even those from the Tang Clan had never witnessed such a strange sight.

“I understand now – this woman is a Poison Person!” Tang Fulu’s brows furrowed deeply. “To think the Dark River Mu Family would nurture such a Poison Person.”

“The Poison Flower of Dark River.” Ye Ya waved his hand lightly, and three Medicine People appeared behind him. He lifted his chin slightly: “I want her.”

The three Medicine People vanished from behind Ye Ya in response.

On the battlefield, Mu Qingyang smiled slightly: “Not bad, not bad. Though I’m the Mu Family head, every time you use your Poison Transformation Divine Art, you shock these poison sects more than I do, giving you more face.”

“Stop the idle talk – they’re not limited to just poison arts,” Mu Xuewei said quietly.

“I’ll handle the rest,” Mu Qingyang leaped upward. The black-clothed leader across from him reacted, flipping his palm to release three Dragon Whisker Needles. Mu Qingyang blocked with his sword mid-air – the needles turned to dust upon meeting the talisman fire. Landing beside the black-clothed leader, he forced his opponent into retreat with several quick sword strikes. Mu Qingyang raised an eyebrow: “It seems the Tang Clan’s Poison Gate’s hidden weapon techniques aren’t very impressive.”

Just as Mu Qingyang raised his sword to end the fight, he sensed a fist wind from behind. His keen sense of danger made him immediately withdraw his sword and retreat. Turning around, he saw a pale face before him. He frowned: “This is…”

Meanwhile, Mu Xuewei noticed two pale-faced men appear beside her, both reaching to grip her shoulders. She smiled – her entire body was highly toxic, and ordinary people would die instantly from a mere touch. These two hadn’t witnessed the earlier battle, or they wouldn’t have acted so rashly. But what happened next astounded her: the two men showed no reaction at all, simply lifting her and darting away.

Mu Xuewei cried out in alarm: “Mu Qingyang!”

Seeing this, Mu Qingyang was also shocked and rushed to pursue it, but the Medicine Person and Tang Clan members blocked his path.

With no choice left, Mu Xuewei violently shook her head. The red flower in her hairpin exploded, and six blood-red petals shot into the heads of the two Medicine People beside her. But they merely paused briefly before continuing, completely unaffected.

“Blood Flower enters the body, seals the throat at first blood,” Mu Qingyang watched from afar, confused whether the Tang Clan also had Poison People like Xuewei.

“They’re dead people!” Mu Xuewei suddenly realized, shouting.

“Dead people?” Mu Qingyang understood immediately. When Su Changhe returned to Dark River, he told them about encountering Ghost Physician Ye Ya and the Medicine People. Hearing Mu Xuewei’s words, he immediately recalled Su Changhe’s account. After exchanging a few more moves with his opponent, he became even more certain of his guess: these were Medicine People!

In an instant, Mu Xuewei was brought before Ye Ya by the two Medicine People. Ye Ya smiled as he looked her up and down, then nodded: “How rare – I never expected to find such a perfect Poison Person in this world.”

Though Mu Xuewei’s poison arts ranked first in the Mu Family, her martial arts were unremarkable. Now restrained by two Medicine People, she could not move at all. She glared at Ye Ya: “Who are you!”

“You’ll know who I am soon enough.” Ye Ya smiled and turned around. “Take her away.”

Meanwhile, Mu Qingyang’s talisman sword beheaded the Medicine Person before him, then deflected ten approaching Bone-Piercing Needles as he gave chase. As Ye Ya’s group left with the Medicine People, Tang Fulu blocked the way, his robes fluttering: “Don’t underestimate our Tang Clan!”

In South Peace City, Bai Hehuan was lounging in a chair sunbathing when she felt an itch on her foot. Looking down, she found a small white snake with a translucent body licking her ankle. She froze.

“Where did this white snake come from?” Su Zhe noticed and lightly pinched some water from the nearby teacup, moving to kill it.

“Stop!” Bai Hehuan hurriedly blocked his hand. “This is the Life-Pursuing Snake of my Medicine King Valley!”

“Life-Pursuing Snake?” Su Zhe stayed his hand, slightly frowning.

“The Life-Pursuing Snake is a lifesaving creature that every Medicine King Valley disciple raises. When facing grave danger, we secretly release the Life-Pursuing Snake, which will crawl over mountains and wade through waters, stealthily traveling to find another Medicine King Valley member.” Bai Hehuan got up and picked up the small snake, examining it carefully for a long while before saying gravely, “My little martial niece, even someone as cautious as you can encounter danger?”
