Vol 1 – Chapter 48: You’re Not Fainted

The young man ran frantically while carrying Ruan Yu, with Jian Xiangxiang, Cai Zhi, and the others trailing behind, though he left them quite far behind. The scene became rather strange—those who knew would see it as an act of kindness, but others might mistake it for a kidnapping.

Ruan Yu bounced in his arms, feeling as if her internal organs were about to be shaken loose. The dizziness that had just subsided from the three-thousand-meter race returned, and she couldn’t help but reach out to lightly grasp the hem of his shirt.

The young man noticed her movement and glanced down at her loosely grasping white hand.

“You’re not fainted?” his voice came from above, tinged with surprise and uncertainty.

Ruan Yu immediately realized which action had given her away. She quickly let go and let her hand fall limply to one side, but by then, releasing her grip only made it more obvious.

“You’re not fainted,” the young man repeated, this time with certainty.

Along with this statement, his pace gradually slowed until he finally stopped completely.

Ruan Yu couldn’t keep up the act anymore and had to open her eyes.

They stared at each other, one above and one below, strangers with a hint of wariness, yet ironically held together in the most intimate position.

It was truly awkward.

“Um…”

“Um…”

They spoke simultaneously, then fell silent together.

Another moment of awkwardness.

“You go first,” the young man said.

Ruan Yu considered carefully before asking in a negotiating tone: “Could you please finish being the good Samaritan by keeping this secret and taking me to the infirmary?”

The young man froze.

Sunlight flickered past as the girl in his arms blinked earnestly, her brown pupils like clear amber.

The footsteps behind them grew closer.

“Please,” Ruan Yu lowered her voice.

“…” He still hadn’t agreed.

“What’s wrong? What happened?” Cai Zhi and the others caught up.

Ruan Yu quickly closed her eyes.

The young man looked her over, from face to hand, examining them carefully. She lay limply in the crook of his arm like a wilted jasmine.

Small and white, yet with its fragrance.

“I asked you something—why did you suddenly stop?” Cai Zhi asked.

Jian Xiangxiang and her two friends held their breath, their gazes fixed on the young man, afraid their lie would be exposed.

“It’s nothing, I just suddenly forgot where your school’s infirmary is.”

He wasn’t from their school?

No wonder his face was unfamiliar—he must be from Hong Shang University.

“You silly boy! Running so fast when you don’t even know where the infirmary is!” Cai Zhi scolded, pointing to the passage behind the main platform. “Come on, follow me quickly.”

The young man nodded and followed.

Jian Xiangxiang and the others sighed in relief.

The passage behind the main platform was narrow, and their large group blocked a petite girl coming from the opposite direction.

“Ruan Yu?” The girl recognized Ruan Yu, and seeing her pale face and closed eyes, guessed it must be due to the three-thousand-meter race.

“Mm-hmm, make way, make way quickly!” Cai Zhi was anxious.

Fainting suddenly after finishing the three-thousand-meter race could be either serious or minor.

“Oh, oh.”

The girl quickly pressed herself against the wall, making room for them to pass.

The group rushed past in a crowd.
