Vol 1 – Chapter 64: Love & Peace

Ruan Yu quickly pulled out her phone and directly searched for Bi Chengjie’s name. She expected to find his credentials online, similar to Teng Yi’s profile she had seen at Xiyu Street Dance Base—a long list of achievements earned through sweat and technical prowess.

However, to her surprise, the search results only showed news about Bi Chengjie participating in dance variety shows. Though the show wasn’t particularly popular, these entertainment-focused stories had overshadowed his past achievements. The top search result was a minor gossip piece about Bi Chengjie and his female celebrity dance partner.

Xiao Qing happened to glimpse Ruan Yu’s phone screen and snorted.

“This guy’s completely commercialized now. He can’t even be called a dancer anymore—he’s just a minor celebrity,” he said, adding, “A D-list one at that.”

Hearing Xiao Qing’s words, Ruan Yu put away her phone, feeling inexplicably relieved.

What was there to fear from such a half-hearted opponent?

The finals’ format was simple: the top eight were divided into four pairs for battles, with the winners competing for first, second, and third place.

Teng Yi performed in the first group.

He wore a black jacket—oversized, with wisteria flower embroidery at the cuffs, adding a touch of refinement and nobility to his wild and unrestrained style. His braids were as proud as ever.

His opponent was a dancer called Nino from Qi City, who appeared a few years older than Teng Yi but was considerably shorter.

Everyone who made it to the top eight was formidable.

Nino started with a power move that drew cheers from the crowd.

Ruan Yu couldn’t help but feel nervous for Teng Yi, but he remained composed, moving his body slightly to the music while watching Nino, cultivating his feelings.

Nino started too intensely and gradually lost momentum. His intent to show off was too obvious, with explosive moves coming unexpectedly without build-up. If his performance were compared to an article, it would be strong at the start but weak at the end, disconnected, with a rushed conclusion.

Teng Yi displayed the opposite strategy from the moment he started. He followed the rhythm with precise timing as if wearing the music on his body. His movements alternated between fluid and powerful, with explosive moves like the Thomas Flare and windmills flowing naturally.

He sparked wave after wave of cheers from the crowd.

He was like both a bare-handed martial arts master and a scholarly writer, composing a magnificent and stunning poem through street dance before everyone’s eyes.

As Ruan Yu watched entranced, Teng Yi suddenly performed a backflip and held a handstand right in front of her.

This super freeze move triggered another round of screams.

Their eyes met.

In that instant, she saw the light and passion in his eyes.

She remained silent, but her heart was racing.

“Wow! Wow! Wow!”

Teng Hao cheered like a fanboy, shouting non-stop at Teng Yi, seemingly wanting the whole world to know this powerful and impressive dancer was his brother.

The battle’s outcome was never in doubt. Anyone with basic street dance knowledge could see that Teng Yi far surpassed Nino in both expression and technical skills.

Though defeated, Nino showed no resentment. He took the initiative to shake hands with Teng Yi, who turned it into an embrace.

Many fellow street dancers in the venue called out Nino’s name, cheering him on and offering encouragement.

Love & Peace!

This was the spirit of street dance.
