Chapter 1081: Forcing Her to Appear

A noisy group arrived carrying gifts, blocking the entrance of the restaurant where Bai Zhiyong was holding his wedding banquet.

While the bride’s family was bewildered, the Bai family’s guests recognized these people.

“Those are Ke Yixiong’s men!”

“What’s Ke Yixiong’s intention? Is he here to ruin Zhiyong’s wedding?”

“I heard Ke Yixiong recently moved to Pengcheng for business…”

It was normal for people from Yangcheng’s martial arts circles to come for a drink at Bai Zhiyong’s wedding – that’s how they filled over thirty tables. But Ke Yixiong wasn’t on the guest list.

Previously, when Ke Yixiong tried to “befriend” Xia Xiaolan, Bai Zhenzhu had asked her family’s martial brothers to protect her. Ke Yixiong had shown no respect for the Bai Family Martial Arts School’s brothers. In the end, it took Brother Pan’s intervention, presenting himself as a fearsome figure, to frighten Ke Yixiong away.

Bai Zhiyong wasn’t around then, and the former prestige of the Bai Family Martial Arts School couldn’t intimidate Ke Yixiong because its people were scattered.

Today was different – it was Bai Zhiyong’s wedding day, with all his supporters gathered. Yet Ke Yixiong dared to show up?

The commotion hardly seemed apologetic.

Xia Xiaolan noticed Li Dongliang’s clenched fist – clearly still bothered by how Ke Yixiong had disrespected him before.

In terms of fighting, Ke Yixiong might not even match Bai Zhenzhu, but as a gang leader, he controlled a large territory and had many followers. If Li Dongliang and others had fought then, endless troubles would have followed.

“Senior Brother Li, that’s all in the past. Ke Yixiong is a businessman now – you might encounter him in business circles.”

Everyone was developing in the Special Zone. Ke Yixiong had established himself in Pengcheng through Du Zhaohui’s help and had even sent messages proposing cooperation with Xia Xiaolan, which she firmly rejected.

While calming Li Dongliang, she wondered why Ke Yixiong had come to the wedding venue.

Ke Yixiong wanted to make money in the Special Zone. Was he here to assert his status in Yangcheng now that Bai Zhiyong had returned?

If so, he was mistaken. Bai Zhiyong’s ambitions lay in his government work, while Zhenzhu’s were in business – neither sibling intended to revive the Bai Family Martial Arts School’s reputation!

Bai Zhiyong had a quick temper – that’s why his military promotion had been so slow.

Zhou Cheng had asked him to look after Xia Xiaolan, yet Ke Yixiong had tried to pursue her… Bai Zhiyong had bottled up this anger for a long time. Hearing that Ke Yixiong had come to offer congratulations, he put down his cup and headed outside.

The bride hadn’t even processed what was happening:

“Zhiyong!”

“Sister-in-law, don’t worry. My brother’s just going to check what’s happening.”

The bride looked at her androgynous sister-in-law, wondering what kind of situation this was. Who brings wedding gifts like this? They were here to cause trouble.

The commotion drew a crowd at the restaurant entrance.

The Bai family’s guests all put down their chopsticks, with some hot-tempered ones already standing to follow Bai Zhiyong outside.

Under these circumstances, Xia Xiaolan had no choice but to follow the crowd out.

The bride’s family tables buzzed with discussion. Bai Zhiyong’s mother-in-law held her daughter tightly – this wedding banquet would certainly leave a lasting impression.

If this wasn’t handled well, could they still cancel the marriage?

After all, they were waiting for Bai Zhiyong to return to his work unit to file for marriage registration, so they held the banquet before getting the legal certificate.

At this moment, they weren’t legally married yet.

“Brother Bai, congratulations! Hearing about your wedding, I hurried here with my people to celebrate. Surely Brother Bai didn’t look down on me, Ke, but simply forgot my invitation?”

While Ke Yixiong’s men looked menacing, he maintained a friendly facade.

His appearance was naturally deceptive. Bai Zhiyong found his face irritating and wanted to punch that friendly expression flat – but he couldn’t act. Even on leave, he was bound by work unit discipline. If he attacked Ke Yixiong who came bearing gifts, he would be in the wrong.

Bai Zhiyong had been impulsive many times before. Bai Zhenzhu pushed forward:

“Brother, go back and continue toasting. Let me handle this!”

Ke Yixiong smiled, “So the Bai Family Martial Arts School is now run by a woman.”

Bai Zhiyong pointed across the street, “Come, it’s clearer there. Let’s practice together.”

Ke Yixiong spread his hands, “I’m not here to fight. I’m a businessman now, and you’re a promising cadre. Fighting would be unseemly. Accept my gift, invite me for a drink, and let’s happily resolve our past misunderstandings. What do you say? Don’t let your sister handle this – what kind of man hides behind his sister? She may dress like a man, but she’s not one!”

He was asking to be beaten – making everyone want to hit him.

Ke Yixiong’s group continued their loud commotion, drawing passersby’s attention to the restaurant.

Was this a wedding banquet or a gang fight?

The bride’s family was watching everything. Ke Yixiong was truly vicious, pulling this stunt at Bai Zhiyong’s wedding – was he trying to step on Bai Zhiyong to raise his own prestige in Yangcheng?

Ke Yixiong’s eyes searched the crowd until he spotted Xia Xiaolan.

He even winked at her.

Xia Xiaolan was puzzled – was Ke Yixiong here for her?

That thought seemed presumptuous. A gang leader’s lustful interest was ancient history from two years ago. Seeing the situation about to turn violent, Xia Xiaolan stepped forward.

“The wedding banquet was arranged in advance – the guest list and several tables were fixed. Boss Ke, you’ve brought so many people, it’s impossible to add tables now. Why not leave your gifts, and let the Bai family treat you separately another day?”

Xia Xiaolan was Zhou Cheng’s partner and Bai Zhenzhu’s friend.

Her words carried weight with the Bai siblings, and as someone who had a history with Ke Yixiong, she had standing to mediate.

Liu Yong frowned – how could they let his niece handle such a situation?

Kang Wei watched Ke Yixiong’s cold smile. Ke Yixiong must be living too comfortably to start causing trouble again.

A mere gang leader – who did he think he was?

Ke Yixiong smiled, knowing Xia Xiaolan wouldn’t be able to resist getting involved.

He bowed to her: “I’ll certainly give Director Xia face. Although my repeated attempts to show goodwill went unanswered, I’m still willing to step back this time… Director Xia’s business is flourishing – wouldn’t you consider letting a little slip through to feed my brothers?”

Xia Xiaolan frowned.

What was Ke Yixiong’s intention? Had he brought his men not to disrupt Bai Zhiyong’s wedding, but to force her to appear?

He had previously proposed cooperation, which Xia Xiaolan had completely ignored – perhaps he had harbored a grudge since then.

Xia Xiaolan wanted to sneer. Everyone wanted to cooperate, but who knew what their true intentions were? Even if she knew how to make money, she wasn’t some wealth-dispensing deity, going around teaching others how to get rich.

Today was Bai Zhiyong’s joyous wedding day. If she ruined his celebration, Xia Xiaolan would feel extremely guilty.

“Fine, get these people to leave, and I’ll talk with you!”
