Chapter 465: Lingering Evil

Rong Min looked at the scene before him with some hesitation, turning his head toward Chu Qing, “Just the two of us?”

Although those before them were mostly women, children, and the injured, they were still numerous, and the most troublesome one, Mu Yunjin, was still there. Where did Chu Qing get such confidence?

Chu Qing seemed not to have heard Rong Min’s words. He glanced toward the source of the continuous explosions from the south, paused for a moment, then looked at Rong Min, “That snake woman skilled in poisons has left. Did you bring what I instructed you to earlier?”

Rong Min nodded, taking out a cloth bag from his bosom, “It’s all here.”

“Throw it over first,” Chu Qing said.

Rong Min understood. He opened the cloth bag, then took out a porcelain bottle and poured the powder from the bottle into the bag.

In an instant, the contents of the bag seemed to awaken from slumber, writhing within.

Seeing that the time was right, Rong Min threw the bag on the ground.

Immediately, finger-length red-patterned flower snakes crawled out from the cloth bag, flicking their tongues and rapidly crawling toward Mu Yunjin and her group.

“These little creatures have been raised by me for a long time. Since birth, they’ve been fed with the world’s most potent poisons, developing their lethal venom. And with their small size, they can crawl undetected…” Rong Min explained.

Chu Qing’s lips curved slightly, his eyes fixed on those red-patterned flower snakes as they dispersed and quickly slithered toward Mu Yunjin’s location.

After the brief battle, the remaining people on Mu Yunjin’s side found an open grassy area to sit down and rest for a while.

“Qiqi, how’s your foot?” Mu Yunjin, seeing Qiqi’s ankle still swollen, frowned with concern in her eyes.

Hearing this, Qiqi moved her ankle slightly, “It’s nothing serious. Hua Ying already applied some medicine for me earlier.”

“Mmm, be careful then, and don’t go jumping around again,” Mu Yunjin cautioned.

Qiqi smiled and nodded.

Little Yuer sat nearby, hugging her knees. She seemed particularly fond of Jiang Qingxue and now rested her head against Jiang Qingxue, dozing off.

Jiang Qingxue was also quite fond of this six or seven-year-old girl, holding her and gently lulling her to sleep.

Seeing this scene, Mu Yunjin suddenly thought of the mother-daughter relationship between Murong Rusu and Jiang Qingxue.

It seemed that when the opportunity arose, she needed to bring this matter into the open.

Mu Yunjin tilted her head, thinking quietly. Suddenly, she heard faint sounds from the grass. Her brows furrowed sharply, and she sprang up from the ground.

At the same time, she felt a pain on the back of her hand.

Reaching out, she saw a finger-length red-patterned flower snake biting the back of her hand.

Mu Yunjin quickly channeled her true qi to shake off the snake that was biting her hand, then said to those around her, “Quickly leave this spot!”

This sudden command startled those nearby.

“Ahhh!! Snakes!!” Qiqi, discovering the danger, screamed and sprang up, standing on one foot and quickly moving away.

Jiang Qingxue also immediately pulled little Yuer away.

After running forward a few steps and leaving that patch of grass, they turned around to find countless red-patterned flower snakes rapidly slithering toward them.

Jiang Qingxue and little Yuer hastily channeled their true qi, striking at those snakes.

Mu Yunjin frowned. Just as she was about to concentrate her true qi, she noticed her right hand had already gone numb. Looking up, she saw that where the snake had bitten, there were not only two blackish-purple fang marks, but her entire hand had turned bluish-purple. The poison was spreading rapidly upward, and the discoloration had already reached her wrist.

Damn it…

Mu Yunjin immediately used her left hand to tightly press on her right wrist, fearing the poison would spread further.

Jiang Qingxue hadn’t yet noticed Mu Yunjin’s condition. To prevent Jiang Qingxue from worrying, Mu Yunjin hid her right hand in her sleeve and looked toward the south.

She needed to find Hua Ying first; otherwise, her right hand would be ruined.

“I need to leave for a moment,” Mu Yunjin said, then flew off toward the south.

Because of her disabled hands, Mu Yunjin couldn’t fly quickly with her lightness skill. She hadn’t gone far when two figures blocked her path.

Chu Qing and Rong Min.

Seeing these two, Mu Yunjin instinctively looked at her right hand, immediately understanding the source of those red-patterned flower snakes.

Damn it, for all her calculations, she had still overlooked this.

Chu Qing looked with satisfaction at Mu Yunjin’s deliberately hidden right hand, smiling slightly, “Mu Yunjin, it’s been a while.”

Mu Yunjin gave Chu Qing a cold look, then turned around, preparing to leave.

At this moment, Rong Min quickly flashed over, blocking Mu Yunjin’s escape route.

Now, this woman, Mu Yunjin, was poisoned. Using her true qi would only make the poison spread faster, so she wouldn’t dare to strike recklessly.

“Your accomplices have all perished. Are you here to avenge them?” Mu Yunjin took a slight breath, turned around, and looked up at Chu Qing.

Chu Qing smiled, folding his arms, “Do you wish to live?”

“Would you give me a chance to live?” Mu Yunjin asked in return.

“Hmm…” Hearing this question, Chu Qing seemed to hesitate for a moment. “Naturally, I won’t give you a chance to live, but this Prince can consider letting you live a few more hours temporarily.”

After speaking, Chu Qing glanced at Rong Min.

Rong Min took out a small bottle from his sleeve, “This is an antidote that will slow the poison’s effects.”

“And the condition?” Mu Yunjin asked, although she already knew the answer.

“The Divine Token,” Chu Qing replied immediately.

Seeing that Chu Qing was indeed after the Divine Token, Mu Yunjin narrowed her eyes. It seemed Huang Yan was right.

Chu Qing must have learned the method to activate the Divine Token.

Although the Divine Token recognized her as its master, if, after activation, those dead spirits and soldiers were summoned by Chu Qing, then her status as master might no longer be effective.

The Divine Token certainly couldn’t fall into Chu Qing’s hands.

But she couldn’t just watch herself succumb to the poison…

Mu Yunjin frowned, then suddenly remembered she still had a Snow Soul Pill with her…

“Have you decided yet?” Chu Qing, seeing the hesitation and contemplation in Mu Yunjin’s eyes, spoke leisurely.

Mu Yunjin looked down at her right hand. Because she was pressing tightly with her left hand, the poison couldn’t rise further and had all gathered in her palm, which was now both black and purple.

Mu Yunjin cursed silently, glancing at Rong Min, “How do I know this is truly an antidote to slow the poison?”

“I can give it to you first,” Rong Min tossed the antidote bottle to Mu Yunjin, adding, “It’s only for relief anyway.”

Mu Yunjin reached out with her left hand, caught the bottle, and held it in her palm.

With a slight lift of her phoenix eyes, she carefully observed the surrounding terrain, then looked up at Chu Qing, “The Divine Token, I’ll give it to you.”

With those words, she took out a golden token from her waist and threw it toward Chu Qing.

Chu Qing’s eyes showed delight as he reached out to catch it.

At the same time, Mu Yunjin took advantage of Chu Qing and Rong Min’s attention being on the token, immediately channeled her true qi, and flew away.

She couldn’t worry about whether the poison would spread; she had to escape these two first.

When Chu Qing caught the golden token, his face lit up with joy. But as he opened his hand, his smile suddenly froze, replaced by anger as he threw the copper coin in his palm to the ground.

“Go after her!” Chu Qing shouted in rage!

Mu Yunjin felt she was going mad. After running for only a short while, her entire right arm had lost sensation. Rolling up her sleeve to look, she saw the poison had nearly reached her shoulder.

Seeing this, Mu Yunjin pressed her lips tightly together. Her head was dizzy, and the scene before her eyes was somewhat blurry. She stopped her steps and looked toward the south, suddenly realizing that those explosive sounds had moved further from their original location.

At this moment, Mu Yunjin truly felt as if heaven and earth had abandoned her.

She dared not carelessly consume the antidote given by Rong Min. But seeing how vicious the snake venom was, Mu Yunjin slowly reached out and took out the bell bracelet from her bosom.

Looking at this delicate bracelet, Mu Yunjin thought of little Chu Mu, wondering what the little one was doing now…

Mu Yunjin sighed, holding one of the bells and staring at the one containing the Snow Soul Pill, her face showing hesitation.

If she took it now, and there was a turn of events later, wouldn’t it be a waste of a life-saving medicine…

Mu Yunjin frowned. As she was deep in thought, those two figures caught up to her again.

“Mu Yunjin, you dare deceive this Prince?” As soon as Chu Qing landed, he spoke angrily, the malice in his eyes so deep it seemed he would devour Mu Yunjin.

Mu Yunjin put away the bell, muttering, “Lingering evil.”

“What did you say?” Chu Qing truly admired the woman before him. With one foot already in the coffin, she was still so stubborn.

Is this the woman Chu Li was desperately in love with?

“Chu Qing, stop wasting time with her. She’s no match for us now. Just take the Divine Token from her,” Rong Min had lost patience.

Chu Qing glanced at Rong Min but didn’t agree to his words.

He had observed several times that the Divine Phoenix only appeared when Mu Yunjin’s life was in danger.

For now, Mu Yunjin could still hold on for a while. If they fought now, without drawing out the Divine Phoenix, they might attract Mu Yunjin’s other reinforcements, which would be troublesome.

Mu Yunjin looked at these two, feeling that their behavior today was somewhat strange, but couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was.

Could it be related to the method of activating the Divine Token?

Thinking of this possibility, Mu Yunjin clenched her fist.

From the corner of her eye, she glanced at Chu Qing and Rong Min. The two seemed to be communicating through secret means, reaching some kind of agreement.

Now they were blocking her path, just waiting.

Mu Yunjin silently cursed at their sickness. Were these two waiting for her to die from the poison?

Ha…

Truly speechless.

Mu Yunjin’s strength was gradually ebbing away. She took several deep breaths, her left hand gently pinching the bell, trying to squeeze out her Snow Soul Pill, but afraid the bell would make a sound. The entire process was both delicate and cautious.

As the three remained in silence, from a distance came several voices mixed with laughter…

“Hahaha, they all lost to us this time! We were the first to find that Jade Whatever Spring!”

“That’s right! Let’s quickly find them. This has wasted nearly two days of our time. Exhausting!”

“Speaking of which, we’ve been walking half the day without seeing a soul. Could those people have gotten bored and left?”

These voices drew closer. Mu Yunjin narrowed her eyes, looking toward the source, and saw five or six figures walking together in her direction.

Those people—weren’t they the tribal leaders?

  1. I have never wanted a main character to die as much as I just want her to just so the story can be done.
You really need faith to read this novel; faith that it’ll actually go somewhere…only for it to not.

  2. Держусь только на своей привычке дочитывать все что начинаю читать. Осталось чуть чуть, чтоб забыть этот абсурд раз и навсегда)))
