Chapter 875: The Faceless One

“Other people?” Jiang Ruoxue frowned and asked: “Who?”

Baiyang raised his head to look at the sky, then sighed and said: “You both come closer. If there’s a solution… help me think of something.”

After hearing this, I could only follow Baiyang’s request and walk forward, standing together with Ruoxue.

The two of us quietly waited for Baiyang to speak, but he lowered his head as if contemplating something. I clearly saw a fleeting fear appear in his eyes.

“Is it hard to say…?” I asked.

“No…” Baiyang calmed his emotions, then said: “It’s not that it’s hard to say… but it’s too bizarre… I’m afraid that after I speak, you’ll think I’ve gone crazy, thereby reducing your desire to communicate with me.”

“We won’t.” Jiang Ruoxue and I answered almost simultaneously.

“Good, in that case…”

He raised his head, stared at the two of us, and with a strange expression said something that made my hair stand on end:

“That person in my heart… she has no face.”

Jiang Ruoxue and I were silent for a long time, as if both trying to understand the meaning of this sentence, but it was really hard to understand.

“No, no face means…?” Jiang Ruoxue asked somewhat puzzled.

Baiyang slowly extended his hand, spreading his five fingers into a palm, then slowly covered his own face.

“No face means no features… her face is flat…” Baiyang’s voice began to tremble slightly. “When she’s about to show an expression… the flat skin on her face starts to squirm… those muscles that twist like worms arrange themselves into a shape that resembles an expression… I seem to be able to tell if she’s laughing or crying… but she really has no face.”

After hearing Baiyang’s description, a chill ran down my spine.

If he truly had to rely on suggesting to himself to add a relationship for himself… then in his heart he had been living with a faceless woman for two years…?

Was his mental state still okay?

“Fortunately you appeared today…” Baiyang began to support his forehead with his hand. “The situation seems to be getting out of control… I seem to have no awareness at all that she has no face… If it weren’t for that ‘knock knock knock’ knocking sound that woke me up… perhaps someday I’ll go crazy.”

“Wait… wait a moment…” Jiang Ruoxue reached out to interrupt Baiyang’s words. “Let me sort out the situation first…”

“The situation?”

“You said she ‘has no face’…” Jiang Ruoxue thought for a while. “You mean you have no idea what she looks like, right?”

“Yes.”

“You’re thinking about a girl whose appearance you don’t even know?” Jiang Ruoxue asked with wide eyes.

“Yes.”

“She…” Jiang Ruoxue was silent for a while and asked again: “If she has no mouth, can she speak?”

“Although she has no mouth and can’t make sounds, I can hear every sentence she says.” Baiyang said.

“You…” After hearing this, Jiang Ruoxue sighed, then said with frustration: “I knew there would be problems… Who creates love with ‘theory’ and ‘knowledge’?”

“So can you help me?” Baiyang looked at us with desperate eyes.

At this moment, I didn’t know if it was an illusion, but I experienced an unprecedented sense of helplessness from him.

Perhaps in the entire “Land of Terminus” he couldn’t find anyone to talk about this matter with. The two of us were his only choices.

“I have a question…” I spoke up.

“Go ahead.”

“Why is it only the face that’s missing?” I was somewhat puzzled. “If this person doesn’t exist… theoretically her figure, appearance, and personality should all be vague… why is it only the ‘face’?”

“This…” Baiyang slowly frowned, seemingly with something difficult to say.

“Does she have a figure and personality…?” I asked tentatively.

After a moment of silence, Baiyang answered: “Yes.”

“That means…” I reached out to gesture, trying my best to keep up with Baiyang’s train of thought. “Everything about her is complete… only missing the face…?”

“That’s right.” Baiyang answered again.

“How is this achieved?” Jiang Ruoxue also asked from the side.

“This… it’s actually not difficult to explain. I replicated a person who exists in the real world.” Baiyang said in a low voice. “Wanting to construct a skyscraper from nothing isn’t realistic. I needed a ‘blueprint.’ My foundation and steel structure directly used the blueprint, but other parts didn’t.”

“Since this ‘blueprint’ exists in the real world… why not replicate the ‘blueprint’s’ face?” I asked again. “Wouldn’t that provide stronger immersion and be more likely to succeed?”

“Because I asked myself, and I don’t like the final presentation form of that ‘blueprint.'” Baiyang said. “If I completely replicated the ‘blueprint,’ my plan would fundamentally not hold up from the start.”

“This…”

After hearing this, Jiang Ruoxue and I looked at each other, truly not knowing what to do.

This Baiyang in front of us could be with a faceless person for two years… Neither of us could probably do that if it were us.

“Then use Zhichun’s face!” Jiang Ruoxue directly spoke up, giving me quite a shock.

Before Baiyang and I could react, Jiang Ruoxue reached out and pinched my cheeks, pushing my face forward.

“Our Zhichun is an undisputed beauty, right?” She said somewhat proudly. “Try immersing yourself with her. Zhichun won’t lose out anyway.”

This was the first time I learned I was a beauty in Jiang Ruoxue’s heart, since in my mind she was even more attractive.

“Ruoxue, you…” With my cheeks pinched, I said unclearly: “Don’t mess around…”

To be honest, I really didn’t like Baiyang much. I was even a bit afraid of him. If I had to be with someone like this, I’m afraid every sentence I spoke would have to be carefully considered, otherwise in his eyes I would be like a stupid dog that only knows how to wag its tail. I would have no happiness or freedom to speak of.

After hearing this, Baiyang sighed and then helplessly shook his head: “This has nothing to do with appearance. Yan Zhichun won’t work.”

After hearing this, Jiang Ruoxue let go of her hand, then took a deep breath, as if making some kind of decision. Just as she was about to speak, Baiyang took the first step and interrupted her.

“You won’t work either.”

“Wh-wh-wh-what do you mean?” Jiang Ruoxue’s words were stuck in her throat, and she directly started shouting. “I haven’t even spoken yet!”

“I don’t mean anything by it.” Baiyang shook his head. “I said this has nothing to do with appearance… it’s not a matter of beauty or ugliness. Rather, I truly have no way to immerse myself with people who exist in reality, otherwise I won’t be able to distinguish which one is reality.”

“Can’t distinguish reality…?” Jiang Ruoxue and I said puzzled.

“Don’t worry about that…” Baiyang said. “There’s only one place I need help with… and that’s whether you can help me ‘create’ a face?”
