Chapter 944: Side Business

Zhang Shan held a torch and patrolled at the entrance of the teaching building. From afar, he saw the mountain of corpses in the distance move, and before long, he saw a figure walking over.

“Hey!” Zhang Shan shouted symbolically. “Where did you come from? An old member?”

That figure heard Zhang Shan’s voice and stopped not far away. Only then did Zhang Shan feel the situation was a bit strange.

This seemed to be a dead person.

Zhang Shan walked forward a few steps and looked carefully again.

Sure enough, the person in front of him looked like they had died long ago. Her face was deathly pale, her eyes weren’t even open, and blood continuously flowed from the wound in her abdomen.

“What the hell…” Zhang Shan reached up to scratch his head, then raised the torch and walked forward again.

Although the situation was a bit strange, Zhang Shan was bold due to his high skills. In just a few steps, he arrived in front of the woman.

The woman seemed to sense something. Her two eyes moved unnaturally—first the left eye opened, then the right eye. Two completely dilated pupils emerged before Zhang Shan, and then she blankly raised her head to look at the sky.

“This is really seeing a ghost…” Zhang Shan frowned and raised the torch in front of him, looking at the woman before him. “Hey, what are you? Can you speak?”

The woman’s neck made several “creaking” sounds, then she lowered her head. Her body also began to twist. She slowly retreated a few steps, gradually sinking into the darkness.

Just as Zhang Shan was about to lose sight of her, he saw the woman instantly speed up, circle around Zhang Shan, and run toward the teaching building.

“Damn!”

Zhang Shan immediately panicked. Although he didn’t know what this thing was, no one could allow a dead person to run wild through “Heaven’s Gate.” He could only decisively chase after her.

That figure’s speed far exceeded Zhang Shan’s imagination. Even though he was already chasing with all his might, he could only watch as that person’s figure grew more and more distant.

“There’s a situation!” Zhang Shan shouted loudly. “Enemy attack! Enemy attack!”

The enormous voice caused everyone inside “Heaven’s Gate” to become restless. Zhang Shan also chased the strange figure into the teaching building, but unfortunately, that figure moved too fast and had long since disappeared without a trace.

“This is troublesome…” Zhang Shan muttered to himself.

Many people began to gradually walk out of their rooms, looking at Zhang Shan with confused faces: “What happened?”

“Damn…” Zhang Shan said with some tension. “A corpse flew in… I don’t know what ability it is. Everyone be careful.”

“A, a corpse?”

Zhang Shan thought for a moment, moved the torch downward, and looked at the bloodstains on the ground.

No matter how fast that woman flew, she was ultimately injured.

“I’ll go find her. You all just protect yourselves.”

Qi Xia sat in the room quietly thinking about something. He had just heard some commotion at the door, followed by a resounding “enemy attack” call.

His train of thought was instantly interrupted. He remembered the scene when “Heaven’s Gate” was previously bloodbathed by “Cat,” so he turned his head to look at the main entrance. Although the lighting was dim, he could roughly see that the place was empty—not even a single person’s shadow.

Before Qi Xia could figure things out, he heard the sound of chaotic crashing coming from outside the room.

He walked to the door and opened it, then poked his head out to look into the corridor, where he saw an extremely bizarre scene.

A woman, as if being pulled by something, was crashing around in the corridor. One moment she hit the wall, the next moment she hit the ceiling, and the fresh blood from her body was scattered all over the floor.

Qi Xia furrowed his brow and took a step back into the doorway.

A few seconds later, the woman’s figure also appeared at the door. She seemed to want to enter, but her body was out of control.

Along the way, it seemed like her limbs had been broken, and her abdomen also had a huge wound. Perhaps her spine was also broken.

He saw her “charge” into the door several times, then her left shoulder hit the door frame, then her right shoulder hit the door. Her whole person entered the room in a very brutal manner.

After entering the room, she had no extra movements, only continuously moving her broken limbs.

Qi Xia watched this scene expressionlessly, immediately feeling puzzled.

Being able to remotely control a corpse to stand here indicated the other party was an extremely strong “Echo” user. But why would this “Echo” user’s control methods be so crude?

This simply looked like a skilled worker using an extremely perfunctory method to complete their own work.

“Are you in a hurry…?” Qi Xia asked softly. “Or did you encounter danger?”

Although the corpse had its eyes open, her pupils began to dilate upward, revealing large amounts of the whites of her eyes staring at him.

The corpse moved its limbs for a long time, finally discovering that its left hand could still be raised normally, so its feet left the ground and slowly came before Qi Xia.

Qi Xia and the corpse were half a meter apart. Apart from the smell of blood, he couldn’t sense anything else.

He saw the other party slowly raise its left hand and touch Qi Xia’s clothes, leaving a bloody fingerprint on his clothing.

Qi Xia understood the corpse’s meaning at this moment, so he retreated a step, moved over a desk, then grasped the corpse’s hand and let her touch the desktop.

After the corpse touched the desk, her whole body froze for a moment, and the bones throughout her body made “creaking” sounds again.

She slowly moved her fingers and slowly began to write on the desk.

“Heaven.”

Qi Xia took a breath and quietly waited for the other party to write. After all, someone was remotely controlling the corpse, using an injured left hand no less. The characters written were both abstract and slow.

“Liar!” Qiao Jiajin suddenly rushed through the door holding a can of beer. He looked like he had drunk several cans—his face was now slightly flushed. “Enemy attack! Did you hear that?”

As soon as the words fell, he discovered that Qi Xia was quietly watching a corpse write characters.

That corpse was covered in wounds, and a bloody hole could still be seen on her back.

Qiao Jiajin blinked, then reached up to scratch his head, then silently closed the door and turned to leave.

Qi Xia looked at the doorway with some confusion. A few seconds later, he heard Qiao Jiajin’s voice again.

“Liar! Enemy attack! Did you hear that?!”

Qiao Jiajin violently opened the door and barged into the room again. He looked carefully and only then discovered that there really seemed to be a corpse writing characters in the room. This seemed to have nothing to do with the way he opened the door.

He was silent for a long time, raised the beer can in his hand to look at it, and muttered softly: “What kind of alcohol is this… with such strong effects?”

“Fist, what’s wrong?” Qi Xia asked.

“Huh…?” Qiao Jiajin was stunned. “Nothing. I might be seeing things. I see a corpse writing characters in front of you.”

“There is indeed a corpse writing characters in front of me.” Qi Xia said.

“Uh…” After hearing this, Qiao Jiajin blinked again. It would be better to accept this if it were a hallucination.

“Yesterday I saw an ‘Ant’ reading your palm, today there’s a corpse teaching you to write homework…” Qiao Jiajin squeezed out a bitter smile. “Liar, do you have some kind of side business every night?”

“I can’t figure it out either.” Qi Xia stared at the corpse before him and said, “Although it’s writing characters, after all this time it’s only written one ‘Heaven.'”

Qiao Jiajin walked up close to look, discovering that after the corpse had indeed finished writing “Heaven,” it began to scribble randomly, leaving only extremely chaotic bloody handprints.
