HomeKiss in the WindChapter 48: The Forty-Eighth Kiss

Chapter 48: The Forty-Eighth Kiss

Above her head, Xu Xingchun said in a low voice, “Okay.”

Fu Xueli reached out to hug him, then felt a bit embarrassed. It was pitch black all around, and motorcycles roared past on the roadside. She only hesitated for about two seconds before obediently moving closer to let him capture her lips.

A slightly cool, moist sensation.

Kissing someone you like, the tingling feeling came rushing in like a tidal wave, as if pop rocks were melting and jumping in her heart.

The feeling was too wonderful.

After kissing for a while, Fu Xueli’s whole body shivered. She barely opened her eyes, breathing slightly heavily. “Hey, hey, don’t let your hands wander…”

There was a large stone pillar beside them. She wanted to push him away, but was pulled back by Xu Xingchun’s arm. His watch knocked against something, making a light, crisp sound.

A group of people passed by nearby, lively and noisy, but no one noticed the chaos in this corner.

His hand braced against the bead-decorated pillar above her head. He lowered his head and leaned in, his kisses landing below her eyes, on the bridge of her nose. Then came deep kisses that reached her throat, sometimes gentle, sometimes fierce.

She said in a low voice that her legs were numb…

Seeing he had no reaction, she continued, “I’m thirsty, I want water…”

“…There’s some in the car.”

“I want water…”

But after being carried by Xu Xingchun to the car, she still didn’t get to drink a single sip of water.

The car keys clattered to the ground. Her heart was beating so excitingly she felt like she was floating, then she suddenly snapped back to awareness.

Warm skin touching the icy cold air, so cold she almost cried out.

Xu Xingchun’s kisses were very forceful.

Fu Xueli curled up her body somewhat frantically, but her hand was pulled up. Xu Xingchun tilted his head, his lips rubbing against her wrist.

Her hand involuntarily curled up.

Damn… was this really Xu Xingchun?

Playing up the mood like this.

Fu Xueli was worked up into a dripping sweat. In a daze, she thought she had really gone too far this time and didn’t know how to end this…

How come whenever it came to this, he became a completely different person from his usual calm and composed self…

She really only wanted to kiss him…

Xu Xingchun was too easily seduced.

Xu Xingchun leaned his body forward, his hands behind him unfastening his wristwatch. His shirt had just been torn open halfway in the chaos, loose and disheveled, revealing the edge of his chest.

The collar was pulled open a bit, the area around his shoulder blades and the hollow of his neck deeply defined.

Her gaze lingered reluctantly, not withdrawing for a long time.

He really was so good-looking.

Her thoughts stalled for a moment. She stared at him blankly for a while.

Then she thought.

Beautiful physicality, and unconscious sexiness… could probably also become a kind of sin.

He was easily seduced.

But she…

Seemed to also be very easily tempted by him…

Fu Xueli’s completely unguarded, captured, innocent expression fell into Xu Xingchun’s eyes. He could no longer hold back and pressed down on her again.

A thick coat was cushioned beneath them.

Supporting his body only with his elbows, the hair at Xu Xingchun’s forehead was completely damp, his breathing very unstable as he called her name.

Where Fu Xueli couldn’t see, his eyes were full of a certain profound tenderness.

This question, Fu Xueli kept thinking about until the next day. Tang Xin helped her push back an interview talk show in the morning to go shoot photos for an endorsement commercial.

This time it wasn’t in a photography studio—they were shooting on location outdoors. During a rest break, she sat in a chair temporarily set up next to the lighting equipment, staring blankly at her phone. The assistant had gone to buy drinks. Staff came and went, but only she was here.

“Xueli, what are you looking at? Your face is all red.”

Fu Xueli turned her head, slightly raising it, and came face to face with Jony’s big face. He was leaning over looking at her phone. She was startled and without a word flipped her phone face down, locking the screen, her heart pounding wildly. “Holy crap, where did you pop out from? Trying to scare me to death?!”

Jony had already been watching for quite a while, but she had been so absorbed she never noticed.

“Watching porn? Looking so engrossed.”

He smiled, fine wrinkles at the corners of his eyes. From her little expression, he immediately saw through her. “Or is the person in there someone special to you, a sex partner?”

“…”

“What nonsense are you talking about?” Fu Xueli was speechless.

Jony and Tang Xin were friends of many years, so naturally he was also familiar with Fu Xueli and had few reservations when joking around. He sat down opposite her, his face showing an ambiguous smile. “Just now… although I only saw a few seconds, it was a very sexy handsome guy.”

Fu Xueli couldn’t hide her embarrassment. She coughed twice and drank some juice. “What a mess.”

“The photo was secretly taken?” Jony shook his head with a knowing look. “Didn’t expect you to have this little-known fetish.”

Were all gay men in the world this gossipy and sharp-tongued?

Fu Xueli couldn’t help but snap back, “That’s my boyfriend!”

“Oh~ boyfriend. Xueli, your face is heating up. But your boyfriend is a bit rough. Remember to remind him to be careful in the future. You’re a public figure—the paparazzi won’t miss any kiss marks on your body.”

She froze for a moment, suddenly enlightened.

Fu Xueli lowered her head and zipped up her jacket, preparing to ignore Jony.

Today’s outfit for the commercial shoot was a low-cut gauze camisole dress. The kiss marks below her collarbone were too obvious. This morning the makeup artist had applied several layers of foundation to cover them up.

She hadn’t said anything at the time, but the makeup artist had definitely run off to gossip with Jony…

Xixi dragged herself over, having bought a whole bunch of drinks. Jony casually grabbed a bottle of juice and went to look at the photos from the shoot.

Just then her phone rang. Glancing at the caller ID, she almost instantly pressed answer. “Hello.”

“It’s me.”

“Mm… I know.”

Knowing it was him, always the same opening line every time…

Xixi was tidying things up and noticed Fu Xueli’s expression was off, her gaze frequently looking over here with concern.

Xu Xingchun’s side was a bit noisy. He seemed to have walked to a slightly quieter place before speaking again. “The place where you got bumped yesterday, does it still hurt?”

Almost instantly, Fu Xueli thought of his wristwatch, and then recalled all the things from yesterday… Her ears burned a bit red.

Fu Xueli made an affirmative sound, then asked, “Where are you…”

“Out on field duty.”

After a moment of silence, her heart suddenly felt a bit sour. Nothing else, just that she really wanted to see him.

Fu Xueli glanced around with the corner of her eye, then lightly coughed and said softly, “I’ll be done with work soon today. Where are you? Can I come find you?”

He didn’t speak.

She deliberately said pitifully, saying very mushy sweet words, “I promise I won’t run around. I’ll just stand far away and look at you. If you allow it, I’ll give you a kiss.”

Arriving at the place, she put on her mask and hat. Taking the umbrella Xixi handed her, Fu Xueli got out of the car and saw from afar a place cordoned off with police tape.

A large crowd of onlookers had been blocked off.

A heavy rain was falling, the road surface muddy.

“Hold on a moment.” Liu Jingbo’s voice came through the walkie-talkie. “There are too many people right now. First disperse the crowd.”

Xu Xingchun was still talking with the investigator, listening to his complete report from beginning to end. As if sensing something, he turned his head and looked in the direction to the side.

Across the street, Fu Xueli was jumping up and down, waving at him.

In a crowd, he could always spot her at a glance.

A hole was smashed in the waterproof tarp canopy, making a booming sound.

Bright yellow lights flashed past. A bus drove by almost grazing her back.

Fu Xueli was completely unaware, only focused on running forward with all her might.

“—Watch out!”

Xu Xingchun was literally shocked into a cold sweat by this sudden change.

The investigator left behind with a bewildered look watched as Xu Xingchun, with hurried steps, pulled open the police line and rushed to the roadside.

“On a rainy day, don’t you watch where you’re walking?!” He questioned her loudly.

In an instant, shock, fear, and anger all surged into his heart. And an indescribable lingering fear.

Caught off guard, she was pulled by his outstretched hand. Fu Xueli’s eyes had originally been shining with excitement, but now, inexplicably scolded by Xu Xingchun, she felt vaguely wronged.

Originally full of joy, now she didn’t want to say anything.

Feeling the force on her arm tightening more and more, and having just run over too hastily, she was still a bit breathless. She rarely saw him angry, and felt a somewhat resistant unease in her heart. She struggled twice.

“You almost got hit, do you know that?!”

Xu Xingchun was furious, his expression very ugly.

“Ah…” Having been so seriously criticized, Fu Xueli looked up at him, obviously feeling wronged and hesitant. “I’m sorry. I was just too happy when I saw you.”

Watching her kick at the rainwater one foot at a time, after two seconds of silence, Xu Xingchun explained with some difficulty in a low voice, “Sorry, I was too anxious just now.”

Fu Xueli nodded vigorously, obviously very much in agreement with Xu Xingchun’s words.

His white coat was all dirty with mud and water. He pulled Fu Xueli into his arms. “Don’t let there be a next time.”

Not far away.

Ma Xuanrui sat in the car for a long time without moving.

Another person was changing clothes while sending voice messages to her boyfriend. After sending them, she had to play them on speaker to listen to them herself to see how well she did.

Seeing Ma Xuanrui staring blankly at who knows what, that person waved her hand in front of her eyes. “What are you thinking about?”

Ma Xuanrui’s eyelashes trembled. She withdrew her gaze and forced a small smile.

“What were you just thinking about?”

Ma Xuanrui shook her head and said with feeling, “Just remembered a line.”

“What line?” That person followed up on her words and asked.

“Mm… let me think, it’s from a movie.”

The person in the car had already changed clothes. Her boyfriend sent another voice message. She excitedly opened it to listen, casually saying to Ma Xuanrui, “Tell me about it.”

“In principle, I never dance, but it’s very hard to say no to a waltz.”

“What does that mean?”

Ma Xuanrui murmured, laughing and sighing, “It means I have a dream lover.”

I have a dream lover.

He is gentle to everyone, but his tenderness is reserved for only one person.

But that person will never understand.
