Chapter 30: One Demonstration

The golden ball flew east and west in the cave, floating up and down, like a child searching for the best hiding spot for hide-and-seek.

Too childish.

Bai Youwei felt a sense of farce.

Last time, although the rabbit-headed person also made her feel like a farce, at least the rabbit-headed person was steady and calm enough. Its words and actions carried a rigid, programmed impression, as if following procedure, without a single superfluous word or displaying any emotion.

But what was up with this golden ball?

In a life-and-death situation, such a thing popping up really made people uncomfortable.

Shen Mo beside her spoke in a low voice: “It sounds not too difficult. As long as one person finds the ball, the game can end. But earlier on the road, there were quite a lot of dolls.”

Which meant all those people died in this game.

If this was a very simple game, why did so many people die?

Bai Youwei dismissively curled her lip. “Racing against rabbits didn’t sound difficult either.”

In the end, didn’t many people still die?

Shen Mo was silent for a moment, then asked her: “Can you use the rabbit?”

Hearing this, Bai Youwei glanced at him but didn’t answer immediately. She lightly kneaded the stuffed rabbit’s ears in her hand. Each time she applied force, muddy water dripped down pitter-patter.

“I don’t dare use it,” she said quietly.

Setting aside whether there was enough charge in the rabbit, just looking at the current environment full of muddy water, she didn’t dare use it. Who could guarantee that if a lightning bolt struck down, it wouldn’t roast all the players on the scene?

She didn’t care about others’ lives or deaths, but Shen Mo had to survive.

Seeing this, Shen Mo said no more, only quietly instructing her: “Hold the starter pistol ready.”

Bai Youwei obediently said “Oh.”

Actually, the starter pistol couldn’t be of much use in this kind of place either, but it was better than nothing. At least it was something to rely on.

Shen Mo then tucked Bai Youwei’s folding fruit knife at his waist.

“My military knife disappeared after entering the game,” he said flatly. “It seems obvious weapons will be blocked by this game.”

“The Monitor needs to ensure the game proceeds smoothly,” Bai Youwei sneered mockingly.

First meticulously safeguarding players’ personal safety, then cruelly plundering players’ lives—just like this game’s name—Doll Game. All who entered were dolls of the game, without rights, without personhood, without freedom.

“Alright! I’ll choose this position!” The crisp childish voice rang out again.

After a bout of indecisiveness, the golden ball finally selected a position.

Everyone’s hearts lifted.

They saw the golden ball hovering above a middle-aged fat man’s head, at a height approximately midway between the cave’s ceiling and the mud pit.

“Watch carefully everyone. After the demonstration ends, the game will officially begin. Remember, you only have 20 seconds to find the ball!” The golden ball raised its voice. “I’m going to launch the ball!—”

Everyone’s gaze focused entirely on the ball.

BOOM!

The sphere streaked through in a blur!

It smashed toward the mud pit with unimaginable speed and force! Splashing up water two or three meters high!

Everyone’s faces turned white in an instant.

And the ball didn’t stop!

After impact, it bounced high up and crashed into the solid stone wall, making a metallic resonating boom!—

BANG BANG BANG BANG!!!

A series of rebounds!

Water mixed with black mud splashed up one after another, collision sounds deafening! Occasionally with a tricky ricochet, making it impossible to guard against. The momentum coming straight at them was like rocks plummeting down a mountain path!

“Ahhhhh!!!”

A young woman screamed while covering her head, rolling off a shell. The golden ball almost grazed her scalp as it smashed past, hitting another snail shell, then bounced off to who knows where! The entire cave was full of banging sounds! Echoing endlessly!

When everything stopped—

In the cave, it was already a different scene.

It was like the aftermath of a blender exploding.
