Chapter 104: The Second Exit

The students looked at each other. Finally, their gazes gathered on a tall, large boy.

“Yang Yi was closest to Lin Zihang. The two of them shared a tent.”

Tu Dan asked the boy, “Yang Yi, did Lin Zihang show any abnormalities yesterday? Did you go anywhere?”

“No…” The big boy’s eyes were red-rimmed as he said hoarsely, “He was fine when we came back last night. We chatted for a while, then went to sleep… I woke up first this morning and called him to get up. He seemed dazed. I thought he hadn’t slept enough, so I went to wash up by myself.”

His head lowered, as if unable to face his classmate’s fate. His voice gradually choked up. “…After that, it became like this.”

“It shouldn’t become like this for no reason. Think more carefully.” Bai Youwei asked, “Could it be that after you fell asleep, he went out?”

Yang Yi held his head, unable to speak.

At this moment, Zhang Tianyang in the crowd suddenly said “Ah.”

Everyone looked at him.

Zhang Tianyang said, “Lin Zihang seems to have gone to the bathroom at night. I slept late last night and heard someone from the tent next door go out, but I wasn’t sure who. Now looking at it… if Yang Yi was asleep, then it should have been Lin Zihang.”

Shen Mo caught the key point, his brow furrowing. “Is there a mirror where you go to the bathroom?”

“There is, but we’ve already covered it.” Zhang Tianyang stood up. “I’ll take you there.”

The place where the students went to the bathroom was at a corner one turn away from the maze center—an L-shaped café.

The café’s facilities were basically intact. Inside were independent bathrooms.

Nearly all reflective objects around had been covered with paper or cloth. The mirror inside the bathroom was also covered with a layer of café promotional brochures, taped securely without gaps.

Shen Mo swept a glance around.

Then he looked up at the ceiling.

The ceiling was mirrored.

—Dark glass reflected shadowy “them,” now also silently watching.

Everyone who followed Shen Mo’s gaze drew in a sharp breath.

Without needing to say more, everyone retreated step by step in unison until they were outside the café door… After that, nothing more was said. They returned to the maze center.

Upon returning, Lin Zihang had completely transformed into a human-shaped doll.

Tu Dan pulled up the tent flap’s zipper, sealing Lin Zihang’s doll inside, as if by not seeing him, the heavy feeling in their hearts could be somewhat relieved.

The plan to advance through the maze was thus shelved.

Because every student’s psychology had been impacted, and Tu Dan, the supervising teacher, was also very confused, unable to make decisions. They could only rest in place.

While resting, they also found more paper and tape. Any visible mirrors were all covered with paper.

As for Shen Mo and Bai Youwei’s side, they continued exploring the maze according to their usual route.

Bai Youwei was thinking about the dolls along the way, somewhat distracted, so the counting work was handed over to Teacher Cheng. Following yesterday’s path to continue exploring deeper, they discovered dolls in a passage—

Sunken into the concrete walls, only heads and shoulders exposed, about ten or so.

But looking ahead, the numbers increased.

The passage reached its end, then turned. Another passage leading to a “door” appeared before their eyes.

Same as the previous one, both sides were densely packed with dolls.

The four stopped in the middle of the entrance for a long time. No one took a step forward.

Teacher Cheng looked at his companions with lingering fear. “Should we go back and notify them?”

Shen Mo thought for a moment and said, “Let’s keep going.”

He looked down at Bai Youwei and asked again, “What do you think?”

Bai Youwei stared at that door that hadn’t yet been opened. After a long time, she spoke. “Since the exit isn’t unique, let’s keep going.”
