“How did you know?” Tan Xiao’s eyes widened.
“Heh…” Bai Youwei lowered her eyelids. “Like I said, it’s a guess.”
Shen Mo gripped the wheelchair handles and pushed her back to the hotel. Seeing she had no energy, he asked, “Did you eat?”
“No.” Bai Youwei was listless. “Wasn’t I waiting for you to come back?”
Shen Mo said, “Tan Xiao and I are going to walk around the other side of the island this afternoon. You stay with Teacher Cheng. Don’t wait for us—eat when you’re hungry.”
She pursed her lips. “No appetite.”
Shen Mo fell silent. After a few seconds he spoke. “Throwing a tantrum?”
Bai Youwei: “Yes.”
Shen Mo: “…”
Tan Xiao suddenly felt the atmosphere wasn’t right but couldn’t figure out why. He asked hesitantly, “Weiwei, who made you angry after we left?”
“No one made me angry.” Bai Youwei said blandly. “I was just too bored alone, so I’m acting up, playing with myself.”
This reason was way too fresh. Tan Xiao couldn’t find words.
Shen Mo understood her words clearly though.
What “too bored alone”—she was actually blaming him for leaving her alone at the hotel.
Shen Mo pushed her back to the hotel room in silence, closed the door behind them, and asked while suppressing his temper, “What are you making a fuss about now?”
Bai Youwei: “Not making a fuss about anything.”
Shen Mo pressed his lips together and said, “You didn’t make a sound when I went out. Isn’t it a bit late to blame me now?”
“Did I blame you? Which sentence blamed you?” Bai Youwei widened her eyes. “Good heavens, I can’t even sulk by myself anymore? You were outside looking at flowers, grass, and girls while I’m sulking—what’s wrong with that?”
Her unreasonable behavior made Shen Mo’s temper flare, but her sour tone also made him find it both funny and exasperating.
Shen Mo asked her, “Where did the girls come from?”
“Big Brother Shen, may I come in?” A woman’s crisp voice sounded outside the door. “Uncle Zhao was worried you weren’t used to things on your first day, so he set up a table in the cafeteria. Come eat.”
Bai Youwei: “Heh, this voice is even more coquettish than mine. Don’t tell me there’s a man outside the door.”
Shen Mo: “…”
The slap in the face came like a tornado.
Always catching people off guard.
Shen Mo’s mood was very complicated for a moment.
“That’s a tour guide Uncle Zhao arranged for Tan Xiao and me.” He said.
“Mm~” Bai Youwei’s tone remained airy. “A female tour guide showing you the scenery—naturally it’s the most beautiful~”
This statement had some ambiguity.
The scenery the female tour guide showed them—was it mountains, water, or something else?
Shen Mo couldn’t explain it clearly to her. He stood up to open the door.
After taking two steps he stopped, worried she’d make snide remarks and embarrass people. He turned back and pinched her chin, warning her, “Don’t cause trouble later, understand?”
The words were quite impolite, carrying authoritarian severity. The pinched area hurt a bit too, but somehow, that mass of sullen air that had been stuck in her chest since seven in the morning suddenly dissipated…
Bai Youwei looked at Shen Mo’s retreating back, lost in thought: Could I be an M?
The door opened. Outside stood a woman in her twenties wearing casual athletic clothes. She had ordinary features that gained some color with makeup, and her cheerful smile added some affability.
Her impression: not disagreeable.
“I was too careless this morning—I forgot to remind you to take sun protection. It’s so hot that by noon it’s impossible to go outside. I brought you hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen.”
The other party enthusiastically said a whole string of things.
“No need, thank you.” Shen Mo declined.
The young woman stuffed a large bag of items into his arms with a smile. “Big Brother Shen, don’t think these things are just for women. Under the blazing sun, it doesn’t matter if you’re male or female—you must apply sunscreen. Otherwise you’ll suffer tonight. Sunburn is no joke.”
Bai Youwei silently followed behind Shen Mo, thinking: This person is really annoying.
