After one round of public voting, the atmosphere had become much more tense.
Number 1 didn’t dare be ambiguous anymore. After thinking quite seriously for a while, he gave his description:
“Young people like to eat it.”
Once again mentioning the word “eat,” so Number 1’s word must be a kind of food. From his behavior of voting for Number 10 last round, it should be an inexpensive food.
Combining the characteristics of being sticky, changing shape, and liked by young people, Bai Youwei could almost certainly determine it was chewing gum.
Then the word Shen Mo held must be something very similar to “chewing gum” yet completely different.
The answer was about to emerge.
Bai Youwei felt much more relaxed now that she had some confidence.
“Number 3, please describe your word,” the Supervisor said.
She glanced at the Supervisor, feeling she could perhaps change strategies. After pondering for a moment, she said:
“I didn’t want to say this originally, but I’ve discovered that some people present still haven’t figured out how to play this game even now…”
Everyone looked at her.
Bai Youwei hooked up the corners of her mouth and continued, “This game isn’t to test your language skills. Everyone, don’t forget—there are ghosts in this game. If we let the two ghosts guess our words and thus survive to the end, have you considered the consequences?”
The Supervisor had said the game ended when only players with the same word remained.
But what if those who survived in the end were all ghosts? Although the probability wasn’t high, this possibility definitely existed.
Everyone reacted and looked toward the Supervisor in unison.
The Supervisor glanced at Bai Youwei, then faced the crowd and explained politely, “One ghost remaining until the end can form an alliance with any team. Two ghosts remaining until the end means there are no longer any friends here, so the party cannot be held.”
“What does that mean?” Number 8, a middle-aged woman, asked nervously. “What do you mean it can’t be held?!”
The Supervisor: “It means the party is canceled, everyone is eliminated, and the ghosts win and leave the game. Do you all understand now?”
Everyone immediately grew tense, their gazes constantly sweeping across each other’s faces, trying to find the ghosts hiding among them!
The objective was achieved. Bai Youwei was very satisfied.
She spoke again: “Understand now? We should eliminate the ghosts first! Because the longer it continues, the more information the ghosts obtain. They might very well guess the words and then hide among us! I suggest this round we first eliminate those suspected of being ghosts. After all, we’re not eliminating our own teammates, so presumably no one will object?”
That last sentence planted a nail—whoever objected to her words would be a ghost.
Indeed, although everyone’s faces showed hesitant expressions, not a single person raised an objection.
Number 8 asked her directly, “Who do you think are the ghosts?”
Bai Youwei replied, “Last round my description was ‘can be bought at many supermarkets.’ Then Number 6 said ‘occasionally go to the supermarket to buy it.’ This description is meaningless—it’s like copying my words, so I now suspect Number 6 is a ghost.”
Number 6 said anxiously, “I’m not!”
Bai Youwei continued as if she hadn’t heard, “Also, Number 4 described having elasticity, Number 7 spoke of being sticky, then Number 9 said can change shape. This statement is more like a comprehensive deduction of the previous two. I also suspect Number 9.”
Number 9 immediately became angry: “Hey! If you can’t analyze properly, shut your mouth! No one wants to hear your bullshit!”
Number 7, Wu Lili, looked left and right, then interjected quietly, “I don’t think Number 9 seems like a ghost…”
“Why the rush?” Bai Youwei smiled with upturned mouth corners. “If your description was inappropriate and drew suspicion, isn’t that quite normal? As long as you describe well this round and clear your suspicion, won’t that be fine?”
