Chapter 425 — Found You

Her mind raced at full speed, all her focus locked on that chaotic toy shop.

Shen Mo’s goal was to draw Mary and the cat away, so he would definitely retreat somewhere far — the farther the better. But that meant the two of them would be separated.

What should she do? She couldn’t see where he was, so she had no way of judging what her next move should be. And she had no way to help him.

And — what had Shen Mo meant by what he said just now?

— “Mary knows where we are!”

— “No — she didn’t search for us!”

Didn’t search?

If she didn’t search, how did Mary find out they were hiding here?

Even if Mary had extraordinarily powerful eyesight, she would at least have to look around first before… unless she already knew their position all along. So she didn’t need to look at all. She simply locked onto Fantasy Street and charged straight over.

Bai Youwei’s face went a few shades paler in an instant.

If that was the case… everything made sense.

The amusement park was enormous. With so many buildings, hiding ten people — or even a hundred — was no easy task. So why had every single person who entered this game not survived? Not one!

Because no matter how they hid, no matter where they concealed themselves, Mary and the cat would always find them.

…Wait.

That still didn’t quite add up.

If they would always be found regardless of where they hid, what was the point of hide-and-seek?

BOOM!

A tremendous crash cut through Bai Youwei’s train of thought.

Every pane of glass in the building shattered.

The enormous cat’s head thrust in through the window, its plastic-button eyes silently fixed on the leafy potted plant in front of Bai Youwei.

Mary sat atop the cat and laughed — a sound like a midnight bell, clear and chilling:

“Ahh~ Found you~”

Bai Youwei’s chest tightened, and she held her breath.

As if savoring the prey’s fear and terror for as long as possible, the cat did not immediately attack Bai Youwei. Instead, with agonizing slowness, it raised one paw and brought it down on the lush potted plant —

And crushed it.

*Crunch, crunch… crunch, crunch…*

The ceramic shards ground against the soil, scraping and pressing. That sound made the scalp crawl.

“I found you~”

Mary slid down along the cat’s body — from its neck, to the top of its head, then down onto its nose. She grinned widely, and in the darkness her eyes glimmered with a ghostly green light.

But in the very next moment, shock flashed through her eyes — even terror.

Before she could dodge, a fuzzy rabbit sprang into the air and launched itself at her face, releasing a blast of lightning with a thunderous roar!

“AHHHHH!!!”

Mary’s screams echoed through the room!

She clung tightly to the cat with one hand and used the other to desperately claw at the rabbit on her face.

The stuffed cat thrashed in agony as well. Its head was wedged in the window frame and couldn’t get back out — it thrashed and flailed in a frenzy.

In the struggle, every glass display case was smashed to pieces, and brightly colored candies rained down on Bai Youwei like a shower.

She didn’t dare let her guard slip. She kept her eyes fixed on Mary, not missing a single reaction, waiting only for the moment the cat’s head was about to pull back out through the window — at which point she shouted, “Attack the stuffed cat!!!”

The rabbit released Mary and dropped to the ground. The moment it landed, all its fuzzy fur stood on end — and it released a blinding arc of blue-violet lightning.

That arc of electricity was like a great cleaving blade, slashing straight down at the cat’s head.

“MREOWWW!!—”

The stuffed cat wailed in agony. It gave its head a violent shake, and at last Mary could no longer hold on — she was flung off the cat and tumbled to the ground.

She crashed down hard.

Her beautiful golden curls had been scorched into a burnt, frizzled mess by the lightning strike, and her fair little face was smudged with a layer of blackened soot.

“Damn you!” Mary wobbled to her feet, glaring at Bai Youwei with burning fury. “You—”

A flash of cold light.

Shen Mo appeared behind her — no one knew when — raised his broadsword high, and brought it slashing down toward Mary’s skull!
