Fu Miaoxue threw herself against the gate again!

It was bolted shut from the inside — she could not get in!

The old scholar’s residence had never been bolted before. Day or night, all these gates had been freely accessible!

Why, of all times, had they been shut at this most critical moment?!

Fu Miaoxue’s heart sank — this had gone badly.

“Du Lai!” Fu Miaoxue screamed, then stumbled and nearly got knocked flat by the female corpse behind her. She scrambled frantically to steady herself.

Du Lai was not seriously hurt.

But when he again prepared to climb the wall, a faint electric current surged through his body!

Not enough to injure him, but enough to numb his joints, robbing him of strength.

By now the two of them had fully realized — it was Bai Youwei’s doing.

Looking up, they saw that the fuzzy rabbit Bai Youwei always carried was perched atop the courtyard wall — no one knew when it had gotten up there — pacing back and forth along its length like a sentry on patrol.

Then Bai Youwei herself peeked out from behind the wall, climbed up to the top edge, and peered down at the two of them with a bright smile, watching as though enjoying a show.

The female corpse was still relentlessly chasing Fu Miaoxue.

Fu Miaoxue shouted frantically, “Bai Youwei! Open the door for us!!!”

“Why should I~” Bai Youwei asked cheerfully.

“What do you mean, why?!” Fu Miaoxue dodged the female corpse’s strikes while pretending to be baffled. “Aren’t we in an alliance?!”

“You mention it and I’d almost forgotten.” Bai Youwei said without urgency. “Right, we did form an alliance, didn’t~”

“Exactly! So open the door!” Fu Miaoxue was in a frenzy of anxiety, narrowly escaping the female corpse’s lunge several times!

Although being turned into a doll meant she didn’t tire physically, she was wearing an encumbering long gown and running on rough mountain terrain. The longer she tangled with the female corpse, the harder it became.

She hadn’t expected things to go this way!

Why wouldn’t the female corpse obey commands? Had her hypothesis been wrong?!

Du Lai shouted from below the wall, “Miaoxue! Throw the spirit tablet over here!”

Fu Miaoxue clutched the spirit tablet and refused to let go.

She could not give it to Du Lai.

Du Lai’s injured foot was still black and blue — every step he took required enduring tremendous pain. If he took another hit from the female corpse, the consequences would be unthinkable.

But she herself was fine — after all… after all, she was just a doll. If it broke, or rotted, or fell apart, none of it would matter.

Fu Miaoxue bit down hard, using the enormous natural rock formation in front of the gate as cover, continuously dodging the female corpse’s attacks.

“Miaoxue!” Seeing she wouldn’t respond, Du Lai ran to take it from her. “Give me the spirit tablet!”

The female corpse would only attack the person holding the spirit tablet!

Fu Miaoxue held on with everything she had!

As the two struggled, the female corpse caught up with them. Fu Miaoxue shoved Du Lai aside! That face like rotting tree bark closed in on hers, and ice-cold yin energy washed over her!

The female corpse wrapped both hands around Fu Miaoxue’s throat, her face almost touching Fu Miaoxue’s as she laughed: “HAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!…”

Du Lai set his jaw and hurled something at the female corpse with full force —
