Fang Yu took the porcelain cup and looked silently at Bai Youwei for a moment, then turned and walked toward the voting booth.
Bai Youwei called out to stop him: “Fang Yu!”
Fang Yu didn’t break stride.
Bai Youwei’s expression finally shifted. She warned him in a rapid voice: “Fang Yu! You’d rather trust him than trust me? Even if you and your people disdain working with someone in a wheelchair, there’s no need to be stupid enough to let yourselves be used!”
Fang Yu finally stopped.
He stood at the entrance to the voting booth, his back to everyone.
The sphere on the roof curiously observed these two people, wondering whether Bai Youwei’s words would cause Fang Yu to waver.
Bai Youwei was genuinely angry now.
She was not a patient-tempered person to begin with, and watching Fang Yu about to go in and vote for her number 11 made the frustration burn even hotter inside her —
“I’m telling you! My rabbit will either knock a person unconscious or kill them outright! It absolutely will not be gentle enough to just numb one hand! That glasses-wearing man is blatantly using you — can’t you see that?! Don’t think that just because you and Yu Chaohui were once under Shen Mo’s command, I’ll go easy on you! If you dare touch that rabbit even once, you’ll have only yourself to blame for what happens!”
Fang Yu let out a cold laugh, then slowly turned around to face Bai Youwei.
“I believe you enrolled as King, didn’t you?” Fang Yu said.
Bai Youwei frowned. “And what of it?”
“If the King loses, she can continue competing as a subject. But if a subject loses……” He spoke slowly, his gaze turning colder and colder, “then she’s reduced to a commoner, permanently stripped of any chance to reach the end. I’m sorry — I can’t afford to lose. So…… I’m afraid I’ll have to ask you to be the one who loses.”
Bai Youwei’s eyes went wide. “Fang Yu…… Fang Yu! I’m warning you!……”
Before she could finish, Fang Yu had already walked into the voting booth.
“Damn it!” Bai Youwei cursed in fury, propelling her wheelchair toward the booth. “Fang Yu! I was not joking with you! If you dare——”
BOOM!!!
The booth shuddered violently! Even the sphere on the roof rocked with the shock. It exclaimed: “So *this* is what the upgraded effect looks like? Incredible……”
It looked out at the group of players standing there, frozen like statues, and the sphere found itself bewildered. Hadn’t Bai Youwei warned them multiple times already? How were they still managing to look this shocked?
Yu Chaohui was the first to rush forward, slamming his fist against the door with full force!
He could smell the scorched, charred stench drifting out from inside. His whole body trembled!
The inspector said unhurriedly: “Why the panic? I’ll open the door for you right now, opening it now…… and then it’ll be time to announce the voting results……”
The door opened, and the scorched smell grew stronger.
A person lay on the floor — completely charred black from head to toe, beyond recognition.
Yu Chaohui stared at his companion in disbelief. His mind went blank. His legs gave out, and he crumpled to the ground, his trembling hands not knowing where to go.
He wanted to help Fang Yu up, yet didn’t know whether he should touch him……
The body’s skin and clothes had all been scorched into a single blackened whole, like coal cinders. The lightest touch sent black fragments crumbling and drifting down.
Yu Chaohui’s throat had gone hoarse. He gasped for air, unable to speak. From his bloodshot eyes, great rolling tears fell one after another!
He never thought……
He never thought that after making it through so many grueling trials, his teammate would not die in the game — but instead die at the hands of a woman!
The rabbit on the floor twitched its ears and leaped up onto Bai Youwei’s lap in a single bound.
Yu Chaohui’s gaze followed after it.
The rabbit settled into Bai Youwei’s arms.
That was the source of this evil. That was the killer.
Bai Youwei had killed Fang Yu.
Yu Chaohui’s breathing went ragged. It was as though his blood was flowing in reverse. The surge of emotion sent darkness swimming at the edges of his vision — he nearly blacked out where he stood.
The glasses-wearing man came in and saw this scene, and immediately burst into laughter!
“He voted! He actually really voted! Hahahaha! He voted for number 11! I won! I WON!!!”
