Chapter 1042 – Livestream World 10

Screams filled the entire orphanage.

And Bai Youwei heard: *ding — ding — ding ding ding —*

The sound of tip notifications arriving one after another:

【Congratulations! You’ve received a rose, worth 100 points~】

【Congratulations! You’ve received a teddy bear, worth 588 points~】

【Congratulations! You’ve received a gold necklace, worth 1,888 points~】

【Congratulations! You’ve received…】

……

Yi Zichu, Ning Yao, and the others, tied to the fire hydrant, watched the scene before them and felt nothing but pure horror.

Over a dozen men were screaming, jumping, and rolling on the ground in the blazing flames!

And once those plastic sheets caught fire, they became intensely adhesive — sticking fast to skin and clothing!

In their agony, the men scrambled to tear off their clothes and shoes, frantically beating out the flames. They barely kept their lives, but their limbs suffered varying degrees of burns.

As those men dragged themselves up off the ground, the way they now looked at Bai Youwei was with eyes completely bloodshot — hatred pushed to its absolute limit — looking as though they wanted to tear her apart the very next second.

Bai Youwei had never harbored the delusion that the small amount of gasoline from Yi Zichu’s motorcycle could burn a dozen-plus men to death. That would have been unrealistic.

But for her purposes, this level of damage was sufficient.

She reached back into her bag and pulled out that 60-milliliter canister of pepper spray.

“Do you think…” she said, “that the burns on your bodies and pepper spray water would make a nice combination?”

The thugs: “…”

Damn!

What kind of devil was this?! Even more vicious than them!

“You little—” One of them, still determined to save face, threw out a threat: “You’d better watch yourself!”

*Psh —*

Bai Youwei pressed the nozzle.

The group of thugs instantly shuddered, then scattered like birds and beasts, wailing and howling as they fled the orphanage.

Bai Youwei checked her points balance. In the moment she’d sparked the flame, she had received 23 roses, 2 teddy bears, and 3 gold necklaces, totaling 9,140 points.

However, these were not “usable” points. To convert gifts into actual usable currency, she needed to visit a service station for redemption.

She stood there thinking for a moment, paid no mind to the five terrified little ones still tied to the fire hydrant, slung her bag over her shoulder, and walked out the door.

The children were on the verge of tears.

The only reason they’d held it together this long was because the shock had hit them before the crying could.

Ning Yao wailed: “Has she gone crazy?! She almost burned all those people to death!!!”

Yi Zichu’s feelings at this moment were indescribable. He didn’t know what to say.

Ning Yao was genuinely terrified of Bai Youwei, and equally terrified the thugs might return. She struggled frantically, trying to work free of the ropes — which had originally been used to tie up vegetable greenhouse frames.

“Brother Zichu, we have to run!” she cried out in a panic. “Before she comes back — we have to get away!”

“But how do we run…” Youyou was as melancholy as her name suggested. “That older sister used up all the gasoline. The motorcycle won’t start…”

Bringing luggage and small children — how far could they possibly get? Diandian and Jiujiu were six and five years old respectively, with barely any stamina, and without enough points to buy transit tickets, they had no way to escape.

When Ning Yao thought about their situation, she was nearly at the breaking point.

Were they really just going to sit and wait for doom?!

Yi Zichu’s brow was furrowed tight. He was silent, but inwardly just as frantic.

He racked his brain for ideas, for any way out — but there was nothing. When Bai Youwei had taken Jiujiu hostage and threatened them into tying each other up, they had already lost all leverage and any means of resistance.

“I’m back~”

Bai Youwei’s cheerful voice drifted in from the direction of the main gate. All five of them flinched in unison.

Her steps were light, her mood seemingly quite good. She walked up to them, produced the gleaming dagger, and swept it down in a single flash —

“Aah!—” Ning Yao screamed and squeezed her eyes shut in fright!

But her body went loose. Bai Youwei had untied her, then tossed out a pile of vegetables and cured meats, giving her an order: “Go boil water and make food. Otherwise, I’ll kill every last one of you.”
