Lu Yuwen smiled and turned to Su Man, saying, “Don’t mind him, he loves joking around.”

“Right, haha, sorry~” Xu Ye’s laughter rang out warmly through the video call, then he added, “But Lu Yuwen, aren’t you thinking about moving out of the hotel? Since you’re planning to stay there long-term, you should at least rent an apartment.”

“Renting isn’t as good as buying, but lately I’ve been busy with the new branch, so I can’t find the time to look for a place.” Lu Yuwen said with a mild smile, “Don’t worry about this, I’ll handle it.”

Xu Ye: “Alright, alright, then I won’t disturb you two anymore! I’ll contact you again tomorrow, bye~”

Lu Yuwen: “Sure, talk tomorrow.”

The video call ended.

Su Man: “……”

She awkwardly set down her phone and softly said, “Let me take your temperature again.”

“Alright.” Lu Yuwen said gently, “Thank you, Manman.”

Su Man blushed as she picked up the electronic thermometer and pressed it against Lu Yuwen’s wrist.

A beep sounded.

But she hadn’t seen the temperature reading. She froze for a moment before realizing the display screen was facing into her own palm — she had been holding it backwards!

The thermometer read 36.8 degrees — her own body temperature!

The man in front of her let out a low laugh. Su Man felt even more embarrassed and couldn’t help muttering quietly, “Why didn’t you remind me?”

Lu Yuwen laughed and nodded, “You’re right, it’s my fault. I should have reminded Manman.”

Su Man: “……”

Alright, that made it even more, more, more embarrassing.

She turned the thermometer around and said in a muffled tone, “Can you… can you not talk to me in that tone of voice…”

Lu Yuwen asked, “What tone?”

Su Man pressed the temperature button again, and answered uncomfortably, “The tone you use when coaxing a little kid…”

Lu Yuwen laughed again.

Su Man bit her lip and gave him a fierce glare. But the glare had no real bite — it was more like she was being coy. Aware of that herself, she quietly lowered her head and stopped looking at him.

“……38.2 degrees, the temperature has come down a bit.” She put away the thermometer and said calmly, “You still have a slight fever. Take another dose of medication tonight, and you should be completely better by then.”

“I feel a lot more alert too.” Lu Yuwen slowly sat up, his voice soft and gentle, “Have dinner with me, alright?”

Su Man glanced around. The only suitable place to eat in the room was over by the sofa, but unfortunately, the sofa was positioned directly in front of the air conditioning vent.

Lu Yuwen had been sweating in his sleep earlier — if he sat in the cool breeze, his fever might return.

“Wait a moment, let me move the sofa. There’s too much cold air blowing over there, and we don’t want you catching another chill.” Su Man said.

The hotel room had two single sofas facing each other, with a round glass coffee table in the middle, all set on a black-and-white striped rug — simple and comfortable.

Su Man neatly rearranged the furniture, then one by one placed the various dishes onto the coffee table. What didn’t fit was set on the TV cabinet. When she turned around after finishing, she found that Lu Yuwen had somehow gotten out of bed and was slowly making his way over, one hand braced against the wall.

His high fever hadn’t fully broken yet. He had no strength in his body, and with each step, his legs threatened to give way.

Su Man quickly went to support him, “Why did you get out of bed by yourself? Be careful you don’t fall… ah!”

Like a self-fulfilling prophecy, she caught the corner of the rug without noticing and slipped!

Lu Yuwen quickly reached out to catch her — and got pulled down with her to the floor! In the sudden confusion, Su Man had no time to react. There was a loud thud, and she felt no significant pain. When she opened her eyes, she was lying on top of Lu Yuwen……

Su Man: “……”

She had truly, never in her life, been this clumsy.
