Chapter 128: Jiu’er and the Ninth Prince Are a Match

No one dared to speculate that Feng Jiu’er had some sort of illicit relationship with the Ninth Prince that would let her be so impudent toward him.

In truth, with Feng Jiu’er being so ugly, and the Ninth Prince like a deity, the two of them seemed to belong to entirely different worlds.

So, speculation? Out of the question!

Even if Feng Jiu’er were to appear before everyone right now embracing the Ninth Prince, it would surely just be Feng Jiu’er forcing herself on him.

Could the Ninth Prince possibly have any romantic feelings for Feng Jiu’er?

Same answer as before — out of the question!

The relationship between the two of them would certainly never give anyone the wrong idea.

Word had it that Feng Jiu’er was a bit simple-minded. Although she seemed perfectly normal tonight, perhaps she was simply foolish at times and lucid at others?

Just like her rudeness toward the Ninth Prince, and her insistence on saving someone certain to die — both were signs of foolishness.

The one thing no one expected was that the tent she’d asked for was actually set up.

“This prince wants to witness the miracle with his own eyes.”

And so the Ninth Prince stayed inside the tent.

Outside the tent, Yu Jingfeng kept watch, while everyone else returned to their own rooms.

How many of them lay pressed against their doors, peering through the cracks at that tent, hoping the Ninth Prince might come out and walk around again, letting everyone feast their eyes?

Tonight was destined to be a sleepless night.

With a prince as devastatingly handsome as a heavenly god inside a tent in the courtyard, who would want to sleep?

Inside the tent, Xiao Yingtao felt somewhat anxious and ill at ease.

She’d never seen a man so good-looking before. The Ninth Prince’s beauty was completely beyond what she could handle.

So, having stayed in the tent this long, she didn’t dare even glance at him once, didn’t even dare to sneak a peek.

“Jiu’er, why don’t I stay here and look after her — you go wash up first.” Xiao Yingtao tugged at the corner of Feng Jiu’er’s clothes and said quietly.

Jiu’er glanced down at herself — sure enough, she was covered in bloodstains, reeking with a coppery stench.

She looked again at Zeng Lanyue — the pulse was still very weak, and she likely wouldn’t wake up anytime soon.

“Alright, I’ll be back quickly. Watch over her.” She stood up.

The moment Xiao Yingtao thought it through, she was instantly stunned: “That… that won’t work…”

If Jiu’er left, wouldn’t that leave just her and the Ninth Prince alone here? No, no, no — she’d faint at any moment!

“You’re not allowed to leave.” The man beside them spoke in a cold, detached tone. “Yu Jingfeng, bring a tub of bathwater here.”

If this girl left, he would be alone in the same space with two young women — that, he couldn’t tolerate.

“Alright then, Xiao Yingtao, go back and rest first — you have training again tomorrow.”

Feng Jiu’er gave her a gentle push, knowing that the Ninth Imperial Uncle disliked being around young women more than anything, and that he’d already reached his limit putting up with it this long.

“I don’t need you here for now.”

Xiao Yingtao double-checked, then triple-checked, before finally nodding and dashing out as if fleeing for her life.

Phew… only once she’d left the tent did she let out a deep, heaving sigh of relief.

The Ninth Prince truly was captivating — any woman who saw him would struggle to withstand that pull of allure.

But… still, being around Mu Mu felt more comfortable. Although Mu Mu was also very handsome, he didn’t put that kind of overwhelming pressure on people.

The Ninth Prince was different. She had no idea which young woman could ever get along comfortably with him — one careless moment and your heart might just burst from fright!

She’d only taken two steps when Xiao Yingtao suddenly stopped again.

She turned back to look at the tent, and her heart suddenly gave a violent jolt!

What do you mean, which young woman? Wasn’t there a perfectly good one right in front of her?

Jiu’er, when together with the Ninth Prince, could actually be so at ease — the atmosphere between them really was harmonious! Jiu’er and the Ninth Prince… ahhh! Maybe it wasn’t impossible after all!
