Tang Yi swirled the cup in his hand, and Ruan Yu stood silently, suddenly unsure of what to say – she had taken the wrong cup.
“What? You want to share a cup with me?” He smiled again, his warmth somewhat alluring.
“This wasn’t meant for you either.” Tang Yi glanced toward Tang Hao’s room. “Did that kid order you to pour water for him?”
Ruan Yu remained silent.
“Don’t mind him. Just do what you need to do, don’t let him bully you.” It sounded like both a reminder and a warning.
After saying this, he turned and went upstairs.
Ruan Yu stood there thinking for a few seconds, then went back to pour another cup of water.
Tang Hao was scratching his head in frustration over the exercise book Ruan Yu had left behind, deep in thought. When the water cup was placed in front of him, he grabbed it and took a sip.
“It’s cold?”
“You didn’t say you wanted it hot.”
“I wanted it warm.”
“…” So demanding.
He pushed the water cup away and continued working on the problems.
Ruan Yu glanced at the answers scattered across the page, most of them wrong, but Tang Hao hadn’t realized it. Even his mistakes were made with serious dedication.
He seemed to want to redeem himself in Ruan Yu’s eyes, but unfortunately, his ability fell short.
Ruan Yu didn’t immediately point out his mistakes. She pulled her chair back slightly, looking at the mountain of homework books piled on the desk. In the name field on the cover, the characters “Tang Hao” were written in a flourishing style.
How had she not noticed his name before?
Tang Yi, Tang Hao – looking carefully, the two did look somewhat alike, especially their straight noses and eyebrows, though Tang Hao appeared more immature. No matter how much he tried to act sophisticated, he couldn’t quite shed his childishness.
“I’m done! What even is this?” Tang Hao suddenly threw down his pen, eyes blazing with anger. “Are you deliberately trying to mess with me by finding such difficult questions?”
Ruan Yu took the exercise book from in front of him, looked it over from start to finish, and then circled the answer to the third question with her pen.
Tang Hao froze for a moment, hardly believing it.
“I only got this one wrong?”
“No, this is the only one you got right.”
A look of unmistakable embarrassment crossed Tang Hao’s face. He snatched the exercise book back and tossed it aside.
“Your foundation isn’t solid. We’ll work on the basics first,” Ruan Yu ignored his childish temper. She stood up, picking up her bag. “That’s all for today. We’ll start proper tutoring tomorrow.”
Before Tang Hao could respond, she had already walked out of the bedroom.
On the other side of the hallway, Tang Yi had just changed clothes and come out. They met face to face, but Ruan Yu didn’t even look at him as she went downstairs.
Tang Yi stared at her retreating figure for a while, then turned and walked into Tang Hao’s room. Tang Hao was leaning back in his chair, looking utterly dejected. Tang Yi picked up the exercise book from the floor and casually flipped through it.
“Finished so soon?”
Tang Hao didn’t make a sound.
Tang Yi rolled up the exercise book and tapped Tang Hao on the back of his head.
“Gone deaf?”
“Brother,” Tang Hao looked up at Tang Yi pitifully. “I don’t like that person.”
“She’s here to tutor you, not date you. Who asked you to like her?”
“I don’t care, I just don’t like her.”
Tang Yi slapped the entire exercise book against Tang Hao’s face and gave his left ear a hard pinch. As Tang Hao howled in protest, he walked out, leaving two words behind.
“Stop whining.”
