……
The long list of achievements below made the opening words “versatile” carry substantial weight.
In the photograph, Teng Yi wore a black shirt and black leather jacket, his presence commanding. His gaze pierced directly into the camera, his eyes and brows showing only intensity and dominance, without a trace of his usual gentleness.
Ruan Yu stared at Teng Yi in the photograph, and the photographed Teng Yi stared back at her. After their brief “mutual gaze,” she shamefully admitted defeat first.
After Teng Yi’s photo came pictures of other Xiyu Street Dance Club members. Ruan Yu looked at them one by one, matching their faces to the red-clothed young men from the school anniversary.
Each of them was extraordinary, at least in their respective specialized fields.
Xiao Qing was a versatile dancer like Teng Yi, particularly skilled in Urban Dance, using choreography to blend various dance techniques into new forms. Zhou Xihe, the Locking Prince, was runner-up in Locking at the LD Street Dance Competition. Lin Shan specialized in popping, while Caihong focused on Breaking but also dabbled in House and Reggae.
This was how others spent their twenties – brilliant and technically accomplished twenties.
Ruan Yu followed the lit path deeper inside. Practice rooms lined both sides of the corridor; clearly, this place would become a dance training center.
Just as she passed through the corridor, she heard music from the stairwell.
It was intense music – heavy metal and rock – making even the floor vibrate slightly.
Rubbing her ears, Ruan Yu followed the sound upstairs.
In the practice room at the second-floor entrance, about ten people sat in a circle on the floor. In their midst, a youth in school uniform was dancing energetically to the music. His movements were quick, occasionally throwing in handstands or complex body rotations that showed he wasn’t just for show.
It was Teng Hao!
Ruan Yu first recognized his school uniform and then made out his face.
She had always thought of Teng Hao as a childish boy, but seeing him now, focused and serious, he suddenly seemed unfamiliar, and somewhat handsome.
The observers occasionally let out “wow” sounds and whistles. Teng Yi stood to the side, arms crossed, his eyes following his brother’s spinning and jumping movements, his expression serious.
Suddenly, he walked over and turned off the music.
The lingering sounds scraped against the glass walls before being carried out the window by the wind. The clamor in their ears completely disappeared, everyone fell silent, and Teng Hao also stopped his movements, sitting on the floor panting while looking at Teng Yi.
“Your foundation isn’t good enough. Work on the basics first,” Teng Yi said.
Ruan Yu was stunned, feeling these words were familiar.
Sure enough, Teng Hao jumped up from the floor: “Brother, why are you saying the same thing as Miss Top Scholar?”
“This proves your foundations are weak in all aspects.”
Teng Hao lifted his head indignantly, but before he could retort, Zhou Xihe noticed Ruan Yu standing at the door.
“Oh my, who’s this pretty little sister?”
Everyone’s attention turned to Ruan Yu, and Teng Yi looked her way too.
Their gazes met quietly across the chattering crowd.
