Vol 1 – Chapter 36: Compared to Me

“This is the top scholar who helped me get into the top twenty!” Teng Hao announced proudly, then waved at Ruan Yu, “Come in quickly!”

“Hi,” Ruan Yu greeted everyone as she entered.

“From Yangshan?” Xiao Qing asked.

“Yes.”

“Hello junior sister, I’m Xiao Qing.”

“Hello, I’m Ruan Yu.”

After Xiao Qing took the lead, the other young men introduced themselves to Ruan Yu one by one. Some were students from Yangshan University, some from other schools, and others were working professionals.

Ruan Yu memorized all their names. With her good memory, remembering a dozen or so names wasn’t difficult for her.

While everyone surrounded her, Teng Yi opened a bottle of mineral water on the side, watching her as he drank.

“Our school is truly full of hidden talents, to have such a beautiful and intelligent sister,” Zhou Xihe’s phoenix eyes looked Ruan Yu up and down, the flirtatiousness between his brows matching his ostentatious cologne. “Sister, do you have a boyfriend?”

Xiao Qing and the others disapprovingly swatted the back of Zhou Xihe’s head.

Zhou Xihe just grinned, showing no intention of stopping, as if determined to get an answer from Ruan Yu.

“Whether I have a boyfriend or not isn’t important. What’s important is that I know you have a girlfriend,” Ruan Yu raised her lips at Zhou Xihe. “Senior Zhou, I forgot to mention earlier, I’m Jian Xiangxiang’s roommate. I often hear her talking about you in the dorm.”

Zhou Xihe’s brows furrowed, his expression instantly changing.

The men behind him let out snickering laughs.

If you play with fire long enough, you’ll eventually get burned.

“Oh, what a coincidence,” Zhou Xihe concealed his emotions and continued making small talk with Ruan Yu pretentiously. “What does Xiangxiang say about me in the dorm?”

“Xiangxiang says you treat her very well, that you’re very faithful. She says you don’t have any of those bad habits other boys have, like flirting around.”

The people in the practice room could no longer hold back and burst into laughter. Even Teng Yi joined in.

Who would have thought that this young girl, looking so gentle and proper, would be so difficult to mess with? Zhou Xihe was used to teasing girls, but today he met his match and was thoroughly played.

“My Xiangxiang knows me quite well,” Zhou Xihe said shamelessly. “That’s exactly the kind of person your brother is.”

As Ruan Yu was resisting the urge to roll her eyes and think about how to respond, Teng Yi threw his empty mineral water bottle at Zhou Xihe.

“Are you that free? Get back to dance practice.”

Zhou Xihe caught the water bottle steadily, threw it in the trash bin, and then patted Ruan Yu’s shoulder, saying with lingering interest, “Let’s chat again, Sister Ruan.”

Everyone dispersed, walking in small groups to other practice rooms.

In this vast space, only Ruan Yu and the Teng brothers remained.

She thought again about how Teng Hao had danced earlier.

“I didn’t expect you to have such skills,” Ruan Yu gave Teng Hao a thumbs up.

“Of course, true talents often hide their abilities,” Teng Hao smiled.

“You think he dances well?” Teng Yi suddenly looked at Ruan Yu and asked seriously.

Ruan Yu sensed something was off but still nodded firmly.

“Since I’m an outsider, I can’t tell much, just thought it was… impressive.”

Teng Hao’s vanity was greatly satisfied, and he happily raised his eyebrows at Teng Yi. Teng Yi ignored him and continued looking at Ruan Yu.

“What about me?” he asked.

“Hm?” Ruan Yu didn’t understand.

“Compared to me?” Teng Yi pointed at Teng Hao, raising his lips subtly. “Still impressive?”
