HomeBlossom through the CloudBoarding Gate No. 33

Boarding Gate No. 33

There were only two stalls in this restroom, one with the door open and empty, the other being the one from which the angry outburst had just come.

Just as Ruan Sixian was hesitating whether to use the toilet or wash her hands first, the stall was suddenly pushed open from inside.

A woman stormed out, strode to the sink, and while washing her hands with her phone tucked between her ear and shoulder, she said, “No, no, no, don’t speak up for him. I’m telling you, it’s far more than just these matters. Anyway, I’m still at Shihang now, but I’m taking my team and leaving. I won’t stay a minute longer. Come out for drinks tonight and I’ll tell you more. What? What do you have going on? Just cancel it! Does it have to be today? Fine, fine, I’m hanging up.”

By the time she finished speaking, she had also finished washing her hands. She leaned forward to get a paper towel but accidentally dropped her phone.

There was a “plop” sound that sounded quite devastating.

When things aren’t going well, everything becomes an obstacle. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, almost wanting to stomp on her phone.

Ruan Sixian also froze on the side.

It was Zheng You’an.

Zheng You’an eventually bent down to pick up her phone. When she straightened up, Ruan Sixian was already holding out a paper towel to her.

She was startled when she saw Ruan Sixian and didn’t take the paper towel for a while.

At this moment, neither was less uncomfortable than the other.

Ruan Sixian couldn’t have imagined that the person cursing Fu Mingyu in the stall was Zheng You’an.

And Zheng You’an must have regretted venting about her boss at Shihang, only to be overheard by an employee.

A subtle awkwardness spread between them, intangibly enveloping them completely.

Ruan Sixian broke the deadlock first, casually stuffing the paper towel into Zheng You’an’s hand.

“The floor is dirty. Wipe it off.”

“Thanks.” Zheng You’an wiped her phone while pretending to ask casually, “Your blush looks nice. What brand and shade is it?”

“…It’s heat.”

“Oh.”

Who would have thought that Fu Mingyu, the princely heir of an airline company, standing at 187 centimeters tall, with a face that meets contemporary women’s aesthetic standards, would, by his efforts, overturn the feast that heaven had bestowed upon him, dodge the barrage of arrows shot by Cupid, and successfully educate modern women not to judge men solely by their appearance?

As Fu Mingyu’s subordinate, as a humble employee relying on his wallet for a living, Ruan Sixian couldn’t help but laugh out loud when she thought about this.

Zheng You’an, who had already stepped out of the restroom, suddenly turned back, somewhat embarrassed: “What are you laughing at?”

Caught again.

Ruan Sixian felt a bit depressed, but the humor still outweighed the depression. She pressed her fist against the corner of her mouth, trying to hide her smile.

“Was I laughing?”

Now Zheng You’an wasn’t just embarrassed, she was annoyed.

“Did you hear it?”

Ruan Sixian suppressed her laughter and nodded: “I wasn’t deliberately eavesdropping, but you were too loud.”

Zheng You’an stared at Ruan Sixian with bulging eyes, making Ruan Sixian want to laugh even more: “I was wondering who was so bold as to curse our Director Fu at Shihang. So it was you. I thought you liked him before.”

“Who would like such a flip-flopping, arrogant person?!”

Ruan Sixian squinted at her, “Is that so…”

Zheng You’an became somewhat less confident under her gaze but stubbornly raised her chin, “OK, I did like him a little before, but now it’s impossible. Who would like such a neurotic person?!”

After saying this, she paused, seeming to rely on a woman’s intuition as she tilted her head to look at Ruan Sixian.

“Do you like him?”

The smile on Ruan Sixian’s face instantly vanished completely, and she sneered, “Who would like that kind of narcissist? Am I crazy?”

After she spoke, the small restroom fell into an eerie silence for a moment.

Surprisingly, Zheng You’an still detected a hint of dislike in Ruan Sixian’s words.

She curiously examined Ruan Sixian and asked, “Really?”

Ruan Sixian felt she had talked too much today and had no need to explain anything to Zheng You’an, so she turned to leave.

Zheng You’an grabbed her, “Rarely do I meet someone who dislikes Fu Mingyu. Come on, let’s go for drinks tonight?”

“…I’d rather not.”

“Come on, my treat.”

“No, I have plans tonight.”

“What plans? Are they important? If not, just cancel them.”

It seemed this sister belonged to the pigeon family.

But at this moment, Ruan Sixian did hesitate for a bit.

On one hand, she had always had an indescribable curiosity about Zheng You’an’s emotions.

On the other hand, she was curious about how Fu Mingyu had offended this young lady so badly.

Wonder if it was like with her, always saying things like “You might as well dream.”

When approaching Bian Xuan’s bar, Ruan Sixian was still in a state of infinite confusion.

She couldn’t believe that she would end up sitting at a table drinking with Zheng You’an, with Fu Mingyu as the connection between them.

Zheng You’an had already finished more than half of her drink, while Ruan Sixian had barely touched her juice.

“It was someone from your Shihang who called to invite me to take photos. I prepared everything, and I even canceled an exhibition I was supposed to participate in. But now he says he’s replacing me, just like that. On what grounds?!”

“It’s not like I begged to come take photos for them. I’m very busy too! And considering the relationship between our two families, he doesn’t even give me this much face. Is he slapping my face or my father’s? I’ve never suffered such humiliation in my entire life!”

Hearing the commotion from this side, Bian Xuan came over under the pretext of delivering snacks and winked at Ruan Sixian.

Ruan Sixian lightly coughed, “I’m going to the restroom.”

Zheng You’an waved her hand irritably, “Hurry back, I’m feeling stifled.”

“Oh.”

Ruan Sixian signaled to Bian Xuan with her eyes, and they went to the restroom together.

“Who is she? Your friend? I’ve never seen her before.”

“Zheng You’an.”

“Sounds familiar.” Bian Xuan dug in her ear, then suddenly exclaimed in astonishment, “How did you get tangled up with her?”

The reason was truly difficult to explain. Ruan Sixian bit her back teeth and eventually said, “Fu…”

Before she could say the next two syllables, Bian Xuan interrupted, “This is also related to Fu Mingyu?”

Ruan Sixian looked at her with half-rolled eyes, “She was responsible for taking my photos, so we got acquainted.”

“Oh, I see.” Bian Xuan grinned awkwardly, “I thought it was because of your Director Fu again.”

Ruan Sixian wanted to leave, but Bian Xuan held her back.

“But does she know who you are?”

Based on their few meetings, Ruan Sixian was certain she didn’t know.

“Definitely not.”

This made Bian Xuan feel a bit uneasy, “You’ve never gone to visit that side?”

Ruan Sixian shook her head.

Bian Xuan thought it seemed her mother hadn’t mentioned her there either.

“You still have absolutely no contact with your mother?”

Expecting an affirmative answer, Bian Xuan was surprised when Ruan Sixian said, “Not exactly.”

She leaned against the wall, tilted her head back, and let out a breath, “She’s been sending me money.”

Before Bian Xuan could ask, Ruan Sixian voluntarily added, “All these years she’s been sending me money, every two or three months.”

“How much?”

Ruan Sixian gave her a look. Had she become money-obsessed?

“I haven’t paid attention. In total, about two or three million.”

“…?”

Bian Xuan gasped, “That’s too much, you wealthy woman. When I asked to borrow money from you for cash flow two years ago, you said you didn’t have any.”

“I didn’t have any then,” Ruan Sixian said. “I’ve never touched the money my mother sent me.”

“But why not?”

Bian Xuan had been wanting to ask this question for a long time, “How many families go through divorces? It’s very normal. Your parents seem to have separated amicably, right? They didn’t have a falling out, and she only remarried four years after the divorce, which isn’t unusual. Why are you so bothered by it?”

Ruan Sixian looked up at the ceiling, her eyes misty, her emotions unclear.

After a while, she just shook her head and said, “Let’s not talk about this. I’m going back.”

Bian Xuan was curious but helpless. Regarding these matters, if Ruan Sixian didn’t want to talk, no one could pry open her mouth.

After sitting down, Ruan Sixian continued from their previous topic, “Why did he replace you?”

“He said my style wasn’t suitable.”

Ruan Sixian muttered, “He studied management. What does he know about this?”

“Exactly!” Zheng You’an slapped the table several times with her palm. “I called him to ask, and he said it was too delicate and not grand enough. What’s that about? No one has ever said that about my work before. My wildlife migration photos in Africa last year even won an award! Isn’t that grand enough? He simply doesn’t understand photography!”

Ruan Sixian rubbed her chin as Zheng You’an continued, “And last time when I took photos for you all, the payment wasn’t even enough to buy me a bag, yet he said I didn’t do a good job.”

As she was listening, Ruan Sixian’s phone rang with a message from Fu Mingyu.

Fu Mingyu: You’re not home yet?

Ruan Sixian nodded in agreement while quickly replying to Fu Mingyu with a “?”

“And, and, that time when I hitched a ride on his plane to Spain, he didn’t pay any attention to me for over ten hours. It felt like he treated me like, like…”

She got stuck trying to find the right description, so Ruan Sixian suggested, “Treated you like checked baggage?”

“Yes, yes, yes!” Zheng You’an became excited and started slapping the table again. “Thinking back now, I don’t know how I tolerated it.”

At the same time, a call came in from Fu Mingyu.

Seeing the incoming call, Ruan Sixian felt an inexplicable panic, like the feeling of being caught talking behind someone’s back.

She immediately hung up and sent a message.

[Ruan Sixian]: What’s the matter?

Fu Mingyu: Answer the phone.

[Ruan Sixian]: Not convenient. Can’t you just text?

[Ruan Sixian]: If not, then forget it.

“There are also things from before, there are so many.” Zheng You’an’s small mouth kept chattering nonstop. “In the past, whenever we met, even before I did anything, he would keep eight zhang away from me. That feeling was really… just…”

“Like he thought you were really into him?”

Zheng You’an nodded vigorously, her facial features all scrunched together, “Yes, yes, yes! As if I was desperate to do something with him.”

Ruan Sixian strongly agreed with this point and nodded calmly.

But after more than an hour, Ruan Sixian was already forcibly fighting off sleepiness, to the point where tears were about to come out.

Sister, you’ve been complaining for over an hour, going back and forth about just a few incidents. Fu Mingyu doesn’t appreciate your work, he has no taste, no sense, he’s a big pig’s trotter. He ignores you, and tomorrow you’ll make him realize he can’t match up to you, while I haven’t even had dinner yet.

As if that wasn’t enough, after repeating herself so many times, Zheng You’an started crying.

“I’ve never suffered so much humiliation in my entire life.”

Ruan Sixian’s back instantly straightened.

It’s not scary when women complain about men; what’s scary is when they start crying. In such cases, there’s no hope of wrapping things up in less than three or four hours.

Alert now, Ruan Sixian immediately took out her phone and messaged Fu Mingyu.

[Ruan Sixian]: Can’t forget it. Come find me right now.

The woman you made cry, you come to deal with it yourself. Why should I be tortured?
