Boarding Gate No. 73

With the New Year approaching, flight schedules became increasingly busy. It wasn’t until the evening before New Year’s Eve that Ruan Sixian finally had time to move.

There wasn’t much to move. Fu Mingyu’s upstairs had everything; she only needed to bring her clothes and daily necessities up.

She opened Fu Mingyu’s wardrobe and saw two cabinets full of white shirts, almost making her think she’d walked into a men’s clothing store.

“Seriously, why did you buy so many identical shirts?” Ruan Sixian asked with her phone wedged between her shoulder and ear as she flipped through them, unable to tell the difference between any of these clothes. “Can one person even wear all these?”

On the other end of the phone, Fu Mingyu flipped through documents in his hand, looking at complex data with furrowed brows, yet replied casually, “Don’t I have you too?”

“Is it because I don’t have clothes or—”

Ruan Sixian stopped mid-sentence, suddenly realizing what he meant. Her face reddened as she said through gritted teeth, “Fu Mingyu, I’m not like you. I don’t have so many strange fetishes.”

Fu Mingyu’s voice carried a hint of amusement, “Then will you indulge my fetishes?”

“Are you still dreaming in the middle of the day? What a beautiful dream you’re having.”

Ruan Sixian randomly rearranged some clothes, changing the subject, “You have so many clothes. Where will I put mine?”

Someone entered the office, and Fu Mingyu’s smile disappeared as he said formally, “There’s a dressing room next to the study. It’s empty.”

Fu Mingyu quickly signed the document and pushed it across the desk while saying, “Have the marketing department send over the spring season seat allocation plan for all routes.”

“Understood.”

After the person left, Fu Mingyu put down his pen, loosened his cuffs, and leaned back in his chair with his phone. He casually flipped through the schedule on his desk, seeing the densely packed meeting arrangements and the mountain of work plans in front of him. A weary, helpless expression settled between his brows.

Sometimes he quite envied people like Yan’an.

After hanging up, Ruan Sixian took less than an hour to organize her clothes.

She only used half of the large dressing room, making the entire house feel empty.

Walking to the living room, she flopped onto the large sofa with a “thud,” lying flat and staring at the chandelier on the ceiling. Suddenly remembering something, she got up and ran to the study, pushed open the door, and stood blankly for a while, seeing the room filled with model airplanes.

Sigh, it wouldn’t work. She couldn’t stay here before Fu Mingyu returned.

His shadow was everywhere, especially in this study. Just walking in, the air seemed filled with his scent.

How could she live normally like this?

Half an hour later, the dressing room she had just organized was suddenly half-empty again.

She had moved all her frequently used clothes back downstairs.

That evening, half the stores on the street had already closed, and many companies had started their holidays early. There were very few takeout options available.

Instead, perhaps only train stations and airports reached their busiest peak at this time.

Si Xiaozhen was on the evening shift and hurriedly came to Ruan Sixian’s place. The two planned to have an early New Year’s Eve dinner.

“Why are there so few dishes?”

Si Xiaozhen opened the refrigerator and, seeing the pitiful variety inside instantly lost all desire to cook. “Even the bok choy isn’t fresh.”

“Stop being picky.” Ruan Sixian opened the freezer compartment and pulled out two boxes of frozen dumplings. “Don’t farmers celebrate the New Year too? All the vegetables in the supermarket are sold out.”

Tomorrow was New Year’s Eve. Si Xiaozhen had to work the night shift and couldn’t possibly go home for the New Year’s Eve dinner, while Ruan Sixian was accustomed to spending the New Year alone.

“It’s one thing for me to be single,” Si Xiaozhen said while preparing the dumplings, “but for someone with a boyfriend like you to spend New Year alone is just too pitiful.”

“What’s the big deal? Go see how many non-single flight attendants across the country aren’t home for New Year’s celebrations today. You’re acting like I’m the only one in this situation.”

Ruan Sixian stood on tiptoe to reach the bowls and chopsticks, speaking with a serious tone, “Hasn’t it always been this way? Every New Year’s Eve, we send others home. If we’re lucky, we might fly back the same day and catch the Spring Festival Gala countdown at home. If we’re unlucky, we can only eat instant noodles in a hotel in another city.”

She placed the bowls and chopsticks by the stove and muttered quietly, “Besides, I quite like spending New Year with colleagues at a hotel.”

Otherwise, it would just be watching the Spring Festival Gala alone at home.

Si Xiaozhen turned to look at her, “But you…”

Before she could finish, Ruan Sixian’s phone suddenly rang. Her eyes lit up, and she immediately wiped her hands and ran out.

The phone vibrated on the coffee table in the living room. Her hand reached it before her eyes did, swiping to answer before noticing the caller ID wasn’t Fu Mingyu.

A sinking feeling settled in her heart.

“Ruan Ruan, Auntie is coming over tomorrow evening for the New Year’s Eve dinner. Are you coming?” Without waiting for Ruan Sixian’s answer, Dong Xian continued, “I heard Fu Mingyu is in Singapore now.”

“I won’t be coming,” Ruan Sixian walked to the window, pressing down a loosely attached window decoration while talking on the phone. “I won’t be in Jiangcheng tomorrow.”

On the other end, Dong Xian sighed.

“Alright, take care then.”

“Who was that?”

Si Xiaozhen poked her head out from the kitchen, “Was it your Mr. Fu?”

Ruan Sixian raised an eyebrow. Si Xiaozhen frowned and retreated into the kitchen. “Ugh… so sour. Looks like I’ll be the only person in the world spending New Year alone tomorrow.”

“You’ll get used to it.”

Ruan Sixian walked into the kitchen with a forced smile and brought out the dumplings, but Si Xiaozhen’s words had given her hope.

Maybe, just maybe!

The next morning when Ruan Sixian left home, the streets were deserted with closed doors and significantly less traffic. Only when she reached the airport highway did she visibly notice more vehicles?

The terminal was bustling with people hurrying home.

Like every other flight, the plane landed in Lincheng around two o’clock.

Two hours later, it took off again, returning to Jiangcheng.

When Ruan Sixian walked out of the cockpit, Ni Tong was just saying goodbye to the last passenger.

“Take care, please mind your belongings, and Happy New Year.”

As the passenger’s figure receded into the distance, Ni Tong’s expression changed instantly as she hurriedly went to get her things.

“Going home, going home! If I don’t get back soon, I won’t even catch the Spring Festival Gala red envelopes!”

Ruan Sixian looked up outside. It was already dark, but fittingly, snow had started falling, dancing in the beams of the navigational lights.

Even the snow came to add atmosphere to New Year’s Eve.

Beside her, the captain, flight attendants, and safety officer rubbed their hands together, taking the stairs almost two steps at a time in their hurry to get home.

“Captain, Captain, give out red envelopes!”

Ni Tong pulled her flight case, looking excited. “It’s the last flight of the year, for good luck!”

After she spoke, others also joined in the clamor.

The captain smiled and took out his phone. “Sure, sure! Prosperity in the New Year!”

A few minutes later, everyone in the crew’s phones rang.

Ruan Sixian suddenly came back to herself and immediately took out her phone, only to see that the captain had created a small group chat and sent two big red envelopes.

“Ah…”

She collected the red envelope, exited the group chat, and looked at her conversation with Fu Mingyu.

Their last chat was still the message she had sent him when she landed at noon.

Ruan Sixian poked her screen forcefully.

Is he that busy?!

She then opened her Moments feed. Today everyone was particularly active, with a continuous stream of New Year’s Eve dinner photos.

Among them, she saw Zheng You’an’s New Year’s Eve dinner post.

No one was in the photo, but the long European-style dining table was laden with both meat and vegetable dishes, their colors alone making one’s mouth water.

It seemed like the whole world was reuniting, while she alone was going home to eat frozen dumplings.

After getting off the crew shuttle, the few steps to enter the terminal were cold with snow falling on their faces. Everyone pulled their flight cases and walked quickly.

Ruan Sixian wrapped her scarf tightly, exposing only half her face.

Perhaps because her mood was so out of sync with the excitement around her, she felt a floating sensation in her steps, as if she weren’t walking on solid ground.

Along the way, Ruan Sixian checked her phone several more times.

The continuous stream of New Year greetings had pushed Fu Mingyu’s chat far down the list.

She had originally planned to pin his conversation, but after some thought, decided against it.

After walking a few steps, her phone rang again several times.

Ruan Sixian took a deep breath.

Alright, Fu Mingyu, I’m giving you one last chance.

If you don’t message me now, go date your work instead.

She looked at her phone.

Well, it turned out to be a message from Zheng You’an.

[Zheng You’an]: Are you not coming for dinner?

[Zheng You’an]: Fu Mingyu isn’t even in the country. What kind of New Year will you have alone? Come on.

[Ruan Sixian]: Wishing you a Happy New Year. Hope you get a big red envelope.

The boarding announcements in the terminal rose and fell, accompanied by the noise of children. Several people about to miss their flights ran fast with their suitcases, the wheels making a harsh sound on the floor.

Although chaotic, it conveyed the excitement of going home.

Her phone rang several more times, but Ruan Sixian didn’t take it out again. She just wanted to get home quickly to eat and watch the Spring Festival Gala.

The sounds around her ebbed and flowed as Ruan Sixian walked quickly step by step.

Suddenly, she saw a familiar figure at the exit ahead.

She stopped, and blinked a few times, making sure she wasn’t seeing things.

No, she wasn’t.

That silhouette—she knew it all too well.

Ruan Sixian’s throat tightened as she pulled her flight case and ran forward.

The distance grew smaller, and the figure became clearer.

Ruan Sixian’s heart pounded, her steps quickening.

The jerk, not saying a word all afternoon, turns out he secretly came back.

However, when she was less than two meters away from that figure, Ruan Sixian made an emergency stop, stumbling a few steps, and almost losing her balance.

—Because the man had turned around.

The moment she saw his face, Ruan Sixian’s suspended heart sank heavily.

She stood stunned in place.

No way, how could anyone have such a similar silhouette?

Put your back next to Fu Mingyu’s and they could be connected in a match-three game.

The man also saw Ruan Sixian. Noticing her strange expression, he lowered his eyes to examine her.

Ruan Sixian felt very awkward. She touched her hair, pretending nothing had happened, and continued walking forward expressionlessly.

However, as she passed by him, she suddenly heard him say, “Miss Ruan?”

Ruan Sixian’s footsteps halted, confusion in her eyes.

“You…”

The man suddenly smiled, nodding at her, gesturing for her to look behind.

Ruan Sixian’s heartbeat accelerated again uncontrollably. Her fingers tightened on the handle as she slowly turned around.

The terminal was brightly lit. He wore a white shirt without a tie, his jacket casually draped over his arm, the other hand in his pocket, standing straight there. Travelers passed by hurriedly around him, all seeming to blur, with only his figure especially clear.

Ruan Sixian didn’t blink, her heartbeat amplified, pounding like drums in her ears.

Fu Mingyu tilted his head slightly. “What’s wrong, having double vision? Don’t even recognize your boyfriend?”

Hearing his voice, Ruan Sixian suddenly felt grounded, as if only at this moment had she truly landed.

“How did you come back?”

Fu Mingyu took a few steps forward and handed over his jacket. Ruan Sixian took it instinctively, and then he held her other hand.

He took Ruan Sixian’s flight case and said, “Would I let you spend New Year alone?”

At the same time, Fu Mingyu turned with Ruan Sixian, raising his chin towards the front, giving her a look.

“Call him brother.”

Ruan Sixian: “Brother?”

Fu Chengyu strolled over leisurely, looking at Ruan Sixian and Fu Mingyu, and smiled. “Your timing is impeccable.”

Before Ruan Sixian could collect herself, Fu Mingyu had already glanced at his watch and said, “Not much time. I’m going to have my New Year’s Eve dinner. What about you?”

Fu Chengyu pointed behind him where several middle-aged foreign men were waiting, then looked at Ruan Sixian. “We’ll meet properly next time. I won’t disturb you today.”

Even after returning home, Ruan Sixian still felt a sense of unreality.

Fu Mingyu went straight to the kitchen, and Ruan Sixian followed him in without even changing her clothes.

“Why didn’t you move upstairs?”

Ruan Sixian didn’t answer. She stood behind Fu Mingyu and poked his back.

“Were you on a plane all day today?”

Fu Mingyu opened the refrigerator, and scanned it, trying to find some fresh ingredients.

“What else? There’s nothing in the fridge. What are we eating tonight?”

Ruan Sixian looked at his back. “There are dumplings. When are you going back? Don’t you need to be with your parents? And your brother is back too.”

“My father is in America, and my mother went to be with him. As for my brother, did he look like he wanted to have dinner with us?” He bent down, opened the freezer compartment, and frowned slightly. “We’re just eating these?”

Then, he smiled with resignation.

Quite a variety.

Well, it’s convenient and quick.

Ruan Sixian: “The supermarkets are all empty. You still haven’t said when you’re going back to Singapore.”

Fu Mingyu casually took out a box of dumplings and walked towards the cabinet.

“Later.”

This kind of answer made Ruan Sixian anxious. She immediately pressed, “When is ‘later’?”

Fu Mingyu methodically rolled up his sleeves, preparing.

“In two hours.”

Ruan Sixian opened her mouth, her blood heating up, while simultaneously feeling a sour sensation in her heart.

After a moment of silence, she finally embraced Fu Mingyu from behind.

During her university years, classmates often invited her to their homes for the Spring Festival, but not wanting to trouble them, she always declined. After starting work, she had spent almost every New Year’s Eve in hotels.

“You don’t have to go through all this trouble. I’m used to it.”

The water came to a boil, and Fu Mingyu tossed the dumplings in, speaking calmly, “Then you should break that habit.”

When the Spring Festival Gala reached the magic performance, Ruan Sixian sat cross-legged on the sofa, holding her phone waiting to grab red envelopes, not even noticing when Fu Mingyu sat down beside her.

“Ah!”

She immediately grabbed Fu Mingyu’s hand. “Give me your phone!”

Fu Mingyu glanced at her and handed it over.

“What’s the password?”

“0921.”

A few seconds later, Ruan Sixian stared at the two phone screens with a cold face, not knowing what to say.

“3.2 yuan?”

Fu Mingyu turned his head to look. “Your luck—”

A glare from Ruan Sixian flew over, and Fu Mingyu, with curved lips, swallowed the words he was about to say.

“Let’s eat.”

She bent down to pick up her bowl, looking at the dumplings in front of her. “Is this a bit disappointing for you?”

Fu Mingyu picked up a dumpling and brought it to her lips.

“If you don’t eat now, you’ll be the one disappointed soon.”

Ruan Sixian instinctively opened her mouth, holding the dumpling as she stared at Fu Mingyu in a daze.

After a while, she chewed and said indistinctly, “Are you even human?”

New Year’s Eve!

Two hours!

She thought he had come back specifically to spend New Year with her, but it was just to satisfy his physical needs?!

Ruan Sixian swallowed the dumpling and moved to the other end of the sofa, staring at the TV. “Fu Mingyu, I suspect you don’t love me. You just desire my body.”

“If I don’t even desire your body, can it be called love?”

“…?”

Impossible to refute.

Fu Mingyu reached out his arm and pulled her back.

“Eat quickly, they’ll get cold soon.”

After eating, Ruan Sixian leaned in Fu Mingyu’s arms, her eyes on the TV but her mind elsewhere.

She looked up occasionally, her eyes landing on Fu Mingyu’s jawline.

“What are you looking at?”

Ruan Sixian reached out to touch his chin, feeling a slight roughness.

“It just doesn’t feel real.”

“You,” Fu Mingyu tightened his arm, leaning down closer. “Do you need something more substantial to feel that it’s real?”

“You—”

The rest of her words were stopped as Fu Mingyu gently kissed her, his palm caressing her back as he said softly, “It’s real. I’m here.”

Ruan Sixian remained silent, just staring at him for a long time, until her eyes started to feel dry. Then she said quietly, “I feel like you treat me better than my mother does.”

“Is that so? Then stay with me from now on,” Fu Mingyu said casually, though his gaze was fixed on her face. “Okay?”

Ruan Sixian lowered her head, burrowing into his embrace, her hands encircling his waist, gripping his clothes tightly until her fingertips turned white.

The TV program was loud and lively, while snow fell softly outside.

Tonight, among the myriad lights in countless homes, one finally shone for her.

Two hours seemed to pass like two seconds, gone in the blink of an eye.

Familiar songs played on the television as fireworks bloomed outside the window.

Fu Mingyu stood up, took his coat, and said, “I’m going now?”

Ruan Sixian still seemed somewhat dazed. It wasn’t until she had accompanied him downstairs that she realized she was wearing slippers with her heels exposed.

“Go back up.”

Fu Mingyu said, “It’s not like I’m never coming back. Don’t look so reluctant.”

“Who’s reluctant?” Ruan Sixian waved at him. “Go quickly. I just came down as a formality. I’m going back too.”

Fu Mingyu gave her a deep look, then turned and got into the car. At the same time, Ruan Sixian entered the elevator.

Returning home and seeing the empty house again, she suddenly felt a sense of loss.

Tonight seemed like a dream.

The next morning.

[Si Xiaozhen]: Holy shit? He comes back?

[Bian Xuan]: Are you sure you’re not hallucinating?

[Ruan Sixian]: Yes, I’m hallucinating. Why don’t you come and wash the dishes that haven’t been washed in my home?

[Si Xiaozhen]: Crying for rich people’s love. I also want someone to fly for over ten hours to have New Year’s Eve dinner with me.

[Si Xiaozhen]: And on a private plane too, wuwuwu.

[Bian Xuan]: That’s enough, this is a win.

[Si Xiaozhen]: Xuan, now do you know how to choose?

[Bian Xuan]: What?

[Si Xiaozhen]: Didn’t you say you had a hard time choosing between a college student and a financial company boss who were both pursuing you?

[Si Xiaozhen]: A 20-year-old young and pure college guy who can take you for a bike ride, or a 35-year-old CEO who lives in a villa, drives luxury cars, is usually very busy but occasionally flies on a private plane to spend holidays with you—which one to choose? Do you know now?

[Bian Xuan]: Sigh, it’s not about the villa and luxury cars. I just find the number 35 more pleasing to the eye.

Ruan Sixian, reading their conversation, laughed a couple of times but didn’t reply further as she boarded the plane.

She knew Fu Mingyu was truly very busy. Last night after dinner, his phone kept ringing as he sat on the sofa.

No wonder Bian Xuan and Si Xiaozhen were surprised. Even when she opened her eyes this morning, she thought last night had been a dream.

—If she hadn’t discovered a red envelope under her pillow.

She held that red envelope, pondering for a long time, and came to only one possibility.

[Ruan Sixian]: Did you put a red envelope under my pillow?

[Fu Mingyu]: You just noticed now?

[Ruan Sixian]:?

[Ruan Sixian]: What does this mean?

[Fu Mingyu]: New Year’s money.

[Ruan Sixian]: Are you treating me like a child?

[Fu Mingyu]: I suppose so.

[Ruan Sixian]: Then those things you did to me would land you in jail.

[Fu Mingyu]: …

At that time, Ruan Sixian held that red envelope, smiling like an idiot.

But after that, Fu Mingyu truly found it difficult to make time to return to China. Even on Valentine’s Day, he had meetings all day.

But a diamond bracelet was personally delivered to her by his assistant.

As for Ruan Sixian, besides work, she also had to prepare for the F3 (third phase co-pilot) exam three months later. The complex theoretical written exam and the intense simulator operation were enough to occupy all her rest time.

Seeing them like this, Bian Xuan once carefully asked her, “You and your boyfriend haven’t seen each other for so long. Aren’t you worried about him being alone abroad?”

“Is he unable to take care of himself or what?”

Ruan Sixian said casually, “His mother isn’t worried, so why should I be?”

“You know that’s not what I meant.” Bian Xuan nudged her shoulder. “Don’t you know how attractive your boyfriend is?”

Ruan Sixian continued eating, chewed a couple of times, and suddenly smiled.

“In his current state, if he has free time, he’d rather lie in bed and sleep for three days and three nights. If he still has the energy to do something behind my back, I’d quite admire him.”

She gave a thumbs up. “With that physical condition, he could outlive a tortoise.”

With the main character joking around, Bian Xuan naturally didn’t say more. She glanced at the table next to them where some men kept looking their way, and smiled with her head down. “You’re not exactly worry-free either. Is your man not concerned?”

Ruan Sixian glanced at the guy across from them wearing a tracksuit who was a student, and snorted lightly, “Mr. Fu is very confident nowadays.”

After speaking, she lowered her head and sighed silently.

Time passes so slowly.

During the May Day holiday, with the busy season, she flew continuously for four days, reaching her flight time limit. The following two days of rest were squeezed in for her F3 exam.

However, on the morning of the exam day, she was informed that due to insufficient instructors, the exam would be postponed.

With her plans unexpectedly disrupted, Ruan Sixian was still a bit dazed on her way home.

Amid the confusion, she also felt a bit happy.

With time in the morning, she went home and quickly tidied up a few things. Looking at the time, she realized she could go see a movie she had wanted to watch but hadn’t had time for.

It wasn’t even nine o’clock yet. The movie was only scheduled in the VIP hall, and it was the first showing of the entire cinema. When she clicked on it, nearly half the tickets had already been sold.

The weather in May had already turned warm, and only a few long-sleeved items remained in her spring wardrobe.

Ruan Sixian rarely wore a dress out. When she arrived at the cinema entrance, they had just opened the doors.

After getting her ticket, with time to spare, she bought a bucket of popcorn and sat outside waiting.

Since the cinema was almost empty, she stood out sitting there alone.

Within minutes, a pair of sneakers appeared before her.

Ruan Sixian looked up, surprised.

“Senior, what a coincidence.”

Xie Yu, holding a movie ticket, looked around. Finding only Ruan Sixian alone, he seemed surprised and checked his movie ticket. “You’re also here to see this movie?”

“Yes.” Ruan Sixian nodded. “Are you alone?”

“Mm, just came from the lab. Um…” He held a bottle of mineral water, confirming again that there was no one besides Ruan Sixian. “How come you’re also alone?”

A girl, and a non-single girl at that, coming to see a movie alone early in the morning was really strange.

Could they have broken up??

At this moment, the ticket inspector reminded them that the movie was about to start. Ruan Sixian stood up, walking towards the theater while saying, “My boyfriend is abroad.”

Xie Yu nodded, walking into the theater with Ruan Sixian, not saying much along the way.

Advertisements were playing in the theater. Although there was no one around, Ruan Sixian still habitually hunched over to find her seat.

After sitting down, she looked up and met Xie Yu’s eyes beside her.

“You’re sitting here too?”

Xie Yu was half-bent, not yet seated, checking his ticket to confirm he hadn’t found the wrong seat.

“What a coincidence indeed.”

Ruan Sixian nodded without saying more.

Halfway through the movie, Xie Yu suddenly remembered something. “Are you going back to school for the September anniversary?”

“Huh?” Ruan Sixian swallowed the popcorn in her mouth. “What did you say?”

Xie Yu leaned closer. “The school’s anniversary is in September. Did you forget? It’s the 110th anniversary this year.”

“I did forget with all the busyness.” Ruan Sixian asked, “What about it?”

“Nothing, just asking if you’re going. Though I guess you probably won’t have time.”

Ruan Sixian smiled and said softly, “I don’t even know if I’ll have time myself, since I don’t have a fixed nine-to-five schedule.”

In the back row of the theater, Yan’an straightened his seat backrest a bit, twisted his neck, and suddenly fixed his gaze.

He tapped the drowsy Zheng You’an beside him.

“Wake up.”

Zheng You’an swatted his hand away, moving slightly to the side.

Yan’an tapped her a couple more times. “Look, isn’t that Ruan Sixian in front?”

In her drowsy state, Zheng You’an only noticed the words “Ruan Sixian.” She opened her eyes and said lazily, “Brother Yan’an, mentioning Ruan Sixian in front of me at this moment isn’t very appropriate, is it?”

“No, that’s not it.” Yan’an pointed forward. “Look, isn’t that her?”

Zheng You’an slowly sat up, following the direction of his finger.

“Huh?”

Approaching noon, Fu Mingyu finally had time to check his phone.

Two hours earlier, Yan’an had sent him several messages.

One of them was a dark photo taken in a movie theater.

[Yan’an]: Is this your girlfriend?

[Yan’an]: Brother, I think you should wash your head and see if the water has some color in it.

Fu Mingyu opened the photo, glanced at it, and then put his phone aside.

Singapore, close to the equator with a tropical rainforest climate, has summer year-round without winter. May to July are the hottest months of the year, humid and stuffy, making people irritable.

After lunch, Fu Mingyu picked up his phone again, scanning it with raised eyebrows.

If he remembered correctly, Ruan Sixian should have been taking her exam this morning.

But the person in the photo was indeed her, and the man beside her—his impression of him wasn’t shallow either.

However, at this point, his girlfriend still hadn’t sent him a message.

Fu Mingyu returned to his office, leaned back in his chair, and forwarded the photo to Ruan Sixian.

[Fu Mingyu]: Little sister, brother has changed quite quickly, huh.

Two minutes later.

[Ruan Sixian]: ???

[Ruan Sixian]: !!!

[Ruan Sixian]: What goes around comes around!

Fu Mingyu raised an eyebrow, twirling a pen between his fingers.

[Fu Mingyu]: Oh?

[Ruan Sixian]: I’m telling you it was just a coincidence that we bought tickets for adjacent seats. Do you believe me?

Just then, Bai Yang came in with two boxes of medicine.

“President Fu.” Bai Yang looked down at the instructions and said, “Dr. Leonard changed your medication. This dosage is stronger.”

He placed the medicine on Fu Mingyu’s desk. “Will you take it now?”

Fu Mingyu raised his chin. “Leave it there for now.”

[Fu Mingyu]: Quite a coincidence. You and I have never had such a coincidence.

[Ruan Sixian]: …

[Ruan Sixian]: Are you sure there’s nothing more coincidental?

[Ruan Sixian]: Do I need to help you remember?

[Ruan Sixian]: Hmm?

Ruan Sixian was clearly mimicking his usual tone.

The memories from London years ago were almost completely blurred. With her reminder, Fu Mingyu snorted lightly.

[Fu Mingyu]: Don’t want to remember.

He looked at the medicine on the desk.

[Fu Mingyu]: I’m feeling unwell now, and my head hurts a bit.

After waiting ten minutes without a reply, Fu Mingyu had already sat down in the meeting room.

After a whole afternoon of long and dull meetings, the clock pointed to seven, but the scorching sun showed no intention of clocking out, still brazenly baking the city.

“President Fu, you haven’t taken your medicine yet?”

Bai Yang asked, looking at the unopened medicine box.

Fu Mingyu opened his eyes, casually picking up the medicine box, pouring out two pills, and swallowing them with water.

At the same time, he checked his phone. Ruan Sixian still hadn’t replied to his message.

Fu Mingyu put down his cup, frowned, and said, “Ask the domestic office what happened with today’s F3 exam.”

Bai Yang said okay, but before leaving, he turned back to ask, “Are you asking about the overall situation or individual cases?”

Fu Mingyu raised an eyebrow.

Bai Yang: “Oh, got it.”

After Bai Yang left, Fu Mingyu stood up, took his coat, and walked out of the office.

Back at the hotel, Bai Yang finally called.

“This morning, due to insufficient instructors, some co-pilots’ F3 exams were postponed to next week.”

“Mm.”

Fu Mingyu hung up, loosened his tie, and looked down at his phone again.

Still no reply to his message.

After staring at the screen for a few seconds, Fu Mingyu suddenly yanked off his tie in frustration and threw it onto the sofa.

He sat on the sofa, closing his eyes to rest for a while, but found his mood getting worse.

As soon as he closed his eyes, her face appeared.

It swayed back and forth in his mind, yet he couldn’t grasp or touch it.

He opened his eyes, lit a cigarette, and dialed her number.

Ruan Sixian answered quickly.

Fu Mingyu crossed his legs, staring at the setting sun outside the window. “You answer the phone but don’t reply to messages?”

“Oh.” On the other end, Ruan Sixian said, “Because I can’t read.”

Fu Mingyu was silent for a moment, narrowed his eyes, his voice becoming somewhat hoarse: “Ruan—”

“Open the door.”

The voice on the other end of the phone suddenly interrupted him.
