You Mingxu opened her eyes again.
Under the light, the desire and madness in Yin Feng’s eyes had completely vanished. He seemed to have returned to his usual self—his gaze cold and quiet, dark with a hint of wickedness.
Her neck still hurt—he had genuinely used some force earlier, for the sake of authenticity. The biting and groping of her body had been real too; some areas still stung.
You Mingxu rattled her wrist chains, making them clank.
Yin Feng pulled a key from his pocket.
But now You Mingxu found his every movement irritating. If he was going to unlock the chains, do it—why did he have to lift her wrist like that, his fingertips sliding along her arm as he unlocked them with deliberate slowness?
Yin Feng turned to unlock the other as the chain fell away, freeing one of You Mingxu’s hands. Quick as lightning, a slap—much louder than the one on the rooftop earlier—landed on his face.
He paused, looking down at her, his eyes unreadable.
You Mingxu snatched the key from his hand and moved to unlock her other wrist. A heavy weight pressed on her shoulder before the key could reach the lock. She swung her hand back for another slap, but this time Yin Feng was prepared. With only one hand free, she couldn’t match him—he dodged, caught her hand, and pressed down on top of her.
They were back in their earlier position, bodies pressed together, eyes locked. His gaze was deep as the ocean, while hers blazed with anger. “Drugging a police officer while being a police consultant—knowingly breaking the law!”
He replied, “Didn’t I immediately give you a cold shower to cool you down, and give you pills to clear your head?”
You Mingxu gritted her teeth, still able to recall the floating, burning sensation throughout her body. True, he had thrown her into the bathtub and drenched her with cold water, which had mostly sobered her up. But before that, even though her consciousness had been hazy, she remembered clearly how he had taken full advantage of the situation. And just now, in front of the mole, though hidden by the blanket, his hands had roamed freely underneath. If not for the need to catch the spy, they would have ended up fighting on the bed!
“Immediately?” she repeated his word.
He pinched her chin and said, “The act had to be convincing. They’re extremely cautious—to make them believe I would accidentally kill someone, my emotions, my actions, our conflict… it all needed to develop and build naturally. Besides…” He glanced at the contours of her body, now barely covered after all the struggle, and said, “I am a man and one who desires you. You were so passionate then—I’ve never had good self-control, how could I resist?”
You Mingxu felt fury building in her chest and laughed coldly. “I was passionate? Would I have been passionate without your drugs? Why didn’t you tell me beforehand?”
But Yin Feng seemed to find her near-furious state amusing. He pinched her cheek again. You Mingxu dodged and tried to headbutt him again, but Yin Feng quickly avoided it. He simply held her head down, his breath falling on her face as he spoke lazily: “I told you to improvise, to cooperate at any moment, and trust in me. After all, I couldn’t predict exactly how things would unfold. Now, isn’t the result perfect? That snake couldn’t resist coming out of its hole.”
You Mingxu stared at him steadily.
He had indeed said those words.
…
Several hours earlier…
When You Mingxu encountered Yin Feng in an “intimate moment” with another woman on the terrace and angrily tried to leave, Yin Feng whispered two words in her ear: “Trust me.”
Because of those two words, spoken without any trace of frivolity, only calm determination, You Mingxu had followed him into the study.
Once inside, he locked the door, took her hand, and led her to the most secluded corner of the study, immediately declaring: “I deliberately arranged for you to see that. I suspect someone around us is their mole.”
You Mingxu was stunned.
Earlier she had been furious, but now, thinking clearly, something seemed off. With Yin Feng’s capabilities, if he truly wanted to hide an affair from her, he would have done so perfectly. Yet today he had made plans with her, then canceled, and she had “coincidentally” caught him misbehaving…
Still skeptical, she looked at him and said, “Keep making excuses.”
Yin Feng smiled slightly and said, “I don’t want my legs broken.”
You Mingxu paused before realizing what he meant. Somehow, this dispelled most of her doubts.
Yin Feng continued, “Besides, I’m pursuing you now—how could I touch another woman? What kind of person do you think I am? Someone who would sleep with anyone?”
You Mingxu snorted softly and said, “I don’t care what kind of person you are. But using inappropriate relationships to catch a mole in a psychopath organization—that’s a new strategy I’ve never heard before.”
Yin Feng reached out to brush a strand of hair from her cheek, but she immediately swatted his hand away. He smiled again and said, “To convince clever people, you need clever logic. After the fake ‘Yin Feng’ appeared in Guizhou, I suspected there was a mole nearby. Otherwise, they couldn’t have known my schedule so well and ‘replaced’ me without leaving traces.”
You Mingxu nodded slightly, agreeing with this point.
“I’ve been biding my time, first to observe quietly, and second to plan today’s operation, where you’ll play a crucial role. I already have suspects in mind,” Yin Feng said.
“I’m a crucial role?”
“Yes. Since this organization collects and cultivates psychopathic killers, I’ve caught their interest and fallen into their schemes—they want to obtain me. But now that I’ve regained my sanity, their current actions are just tests and manipulation, avoiding confrontation. Of course, I have scores to settle with them. Since they keep leading us in circles—whether it’s Xiang Rong, Luo Yu, or Kaiyang Group—all trails have gone cold. I might as well expose a weakness deliberately, luring the person nearby to show their hand. And you are my only weakness.”
You Mingxu glanced at him, her lips twitching.
Yin Feng said, “What, you don’t believe it? Money, lust, power, personal gain, self-interest—none of these could drive me to crime. All these years, I’ve never fallen. Only for you…” He paused, his dark gaze falling on her face. “…only then might they half-believe. But that’s enough.”
For some reason, You Mingxu felt something stir in her heart. Maintaining a neutral expression, she asked, “So what’s next?”
Yin Feng said, “I won’t tell you the entire plan. Pretend we never had this conversation. React naturally to whatever happens next, improvise, and trust in me.”
He didn’t even reveal who he suspected. So when Guan Jun came in with tea, You Mingxu followed his instructions, acting as if she knew nothing, maintaining a cold, rejecting posture. And he, as a psychologist, obviously managed the behavioral and psychological aspects more expertly, sitting there with a gloomy expression for Guan Jun to see, his suppressed, cold aura palpable to everyone.
