Dai Wo You Zui Shi – Chapter 188

At that moment.

Another vehicle, a black SUV, suddenly burst out from behind a row of cars, charging toward the police officers. You Mingxu and Jing Ping shouted almost simultaneously: “Get away!” But the officers closest to the vehicle couldn’t jump clear in time and were knocked down. Everyone hit the ground as the vehicle screeched to a halt next to Wei Lan’s car, gunfire erupting simultaneously.

Jing Ping, You Mingxu, Yin Feng, Xu Mengshan, and others scattered behind various cars for cover, as did the other officers. Xiao Yan moved incredibly fast, peeking through a gap and dodging away as a bullet whizzed past, missing him.

Still shaken, he said with a pale face, “They’re trying to rescue their people!”

Everyone fell silent.

No one had expected these criminals to be so brazen as to directly confront the police in an urban area, starting a gunfight with seemingly nothing to lose.

You Mingxu scanned the surroundings, her gaze landing on a rookie officer several meters away behind another car. The young man’s face was tense, and extremely nervous, forehead sweating. You Mingxu called his name: “Throw me your gun! Find cover, stay back!” The young man hesitated briefly before tossing her his weapon. With the gun in hand, You Mingxu felt more centered and called out, “Mengshan, ready to cover me.”

Xu Mengshan responded affirmatively.

You Mingxu glanced at Yin Feng, whose dark eyes showed no panic, only depths of calm. She addressed only those around him: “Protect him, keep him back.” Chen Feng and the others nodded. You Mingxu turned away.

Xu Mengshan had excellent cover, both a car and a large pillar. He suddenly raised his head, firing several shots in succession, temporarily silencing the opponent’s gunfire.

You Mingxu seized the opportunity to move around the flank, with Jing Ping following closely behind, two other officers behind him. You Mingxu glanced at Jing Ping—she was used to coordinating with Xu Mengshan, but Jing Ping clearly understood the situation instinctively, being a more experienced detective than either of them.

Yin Feng watched their silently advancing figures and said, “Guan Jun, Chen Feng, go with them.”

Guan Jun and Chen Feng were his two best shooters. Guan Jun because he was naturally talented at everything. Chen Feng because when he first started, he had nothing going for him except being a psychopath, yet insisted on being manager, so he practiced shooting until he became proficient enough to earn the team’s respect.

The two exchanged glances, and Chen Feng said, “How about Guan Jun stays with you, I’ll go.”

Yin Feng: “Go now. Your mission isn’t to catch criminals—it’s her. Whoever shoots at her, you shoot them.”

The two said nothing more, drew their concealed weapons and followed.

With six elite fighters advancing and heavy covering fire from behind, the situation quickly reversed after the initial suppression. You Mingxu could now see clearly—besides the three incapacitated people from the first car, the opposition had three men left. Two were unfamiliar faces, but one wore a black tactical jacket and pants with a baseball cap, occasionally emerging from behind the car to fire with deadly accuracy, causing them the most trouble.

You Mingxu glanced at him, then aimed her gun at another target nearby, waiting for them to show themselves.

Of the two unconscious men from the first car, one had already been rescued to the second vehicle. The other remained where he fell. Wei Lan had probably been rescued too.

Suddenly, someone darted toward the first car. You Mingxu fired a single shot, hitting them in the shoulder. Another shot followed immediately, striking them in the abdomen. You Mingxu turned to see Chen Feng behind another car, lowering his gun and giving her a slight smile.

Illegal firearms?

Though with Yin Feng’s provincial connections, perhaps they had some grey area clearance.

Jing Ping was hidden in another corner, not rushing to shoot but waiting for the right position before raising his gun: “Bang bang bang—” He wasn’t aiming at people; three of the second car’s tires visibly deflated. As he was repositioning for a better angle at the fourth tire, a shot rang out, and the last tire immediately lost air. He looked up to spot one of Yin Feng’s men, a thin, gloomy-looking man who caught his gaze and returned a sinister smile.

Jing Ping’s eyes fell on the man’s gun, his brow furrowing.

Now the opponents were trapped, with only two people still capable of fighting back.

Their gunfire ceased.

On this side, Jing Ping raised his hand, and You Mingxu and the others lowered their weapons.

Jing Ping called out in a deep voice: “You have nowhere to run! Put down your weapons! Stop this useless resistance!”

Silence fell on the other side for a moment.

Then came a sight that shocked the police officers—a very young officer, covered in blood, limbs limp, was dragged out from behind the car with someone holding him by the neck.

Jing Ping’s facial muscles twitched silently as he kept his gun steadily aimed at the man dragging the young officer. But the man’s hand was equally steady, his gun pressed against the officer’s head.

The officer must have been injured when the second car suddenly appeared, leaving him vulnerable to capture.

Jing Ping recognized the gunman from the case files. His name was Gu Tiancheng.

You Mingxu also watched Gu Tiancheng, her eyes turning ice-cold. This guy was capable of anything. Who would have thought that Yin Feng’s plan would catch this vicious, cunning character and his accomplices? But now, what was he planning?

Yin Feng also saw Gu Tiancheng from afar. After several seconds of silence, he suddenly moved, crouching low and running forward. His remaining people—Lao Jiu, Xiao Yan, and Tu Ya—were startled. Xiao Yan and Tu Ya followed first, while Lao Jiu’s face darkened as he pulled a knife from his boot and followed with a cold expression.

Tu Ya grabbed Yin Feng: “Teacher Yin, it’s dangerous ahead. We don’t have guns, we can’t go.”

Xiao Yan also whispered, “She told you to stay back.”

Yin Feng’s face was cold as he said, “Now that Gu Tiancheng is cornered, what would he want most before dying?”

They all froze as Yin Feng continued forward.

You Mingxu felt something was wrong, and as she looked up again, Gu Tiancheng also raised his head. By chance, their eyes met.

The third time.

They thought simultaneously.

Then he smiled, while You Mingxu remained completely serious. His face looked thinner than their last meeting, pale, with sunken eyes. But those eyes were incredibly bright.

“You Mingxu, come here,” Gu Tiancheng called out, “I’ll let him go after I have a few words with you.”

You Mingxu clenched her jaw. Jing Ping glanced at her and said, “Don’t go. Don’t fall for it.” He called out again: “Gu Tiancheng, you’re surrounded with no escape. Release him, drop your weapons, and we won’t shoot.”

Gu Tiancheng smiled slightly, still staring in You Mingxu’s direction, then suddenly raised his gun and shot the officer in the thigh. The officer cried out in pain, groaning continuously. Everyone’s expression changed.
