Dai Wo You Zui Shi – Chapter 29

You Mingxu let out a light snort, but before she could speak, Chen Feng continued, “I’ve already rented the house next door to yours. I’ll be staying there along with the housekeeper, cook, and driver—all available at your beck and call. Someone will prepare and deliver three meals daily for you and Teacher Yin. The chef comes from a Michelin-starred restaurant. The house will be cleaned while you’re out, and all household chores will be taken care of. It absolutely won’t add any burden to your daily life.”

You Mingxu was momentarily stunned into silence.

Everything else aside, daily housekeeping and a Michelin chef…

Chen Feng pressed on, “Teacher Yin’s mental state is indeed immature right now, and he can’t be separated from you. To show our gratitude for your trouble, we’ll provide a monthly service fee of 30,000 yuan, transferred directly to your account. There’s also a 5,000 yuan bonus whenever you accompany Teacher Yin during holidays.”

This made You Mingxu laugh outright. “Trying to buy my time? Sorry, it’s not for sale.” The proposition had cleared her head completely. She thought to herself, what kind of situation was this? Living with someone mentally unstable would surely bring endless troubles. Moreover, Yin Feng was already dependent on her—living together would only make him more so. What then?

And in the future, if that mature scoundrel were to regain his senses, what then?

Subconsciously, she felt resistant to such a scenario.

“Are you finished?” You Mingxu said, “If so, please take him with you.”

Chen Feng felt somewhat regretful, realizing he had misstepped by bringing up money. This female police officer was different from the women who had pursued Yin Feng before. Some of those had also acted aloof, but at the mention of money, their expressions had always changed somewhat. But this one’s eyes remained clear and forthright, with a hint of icy disdain.

The more disdain she showed, the more Chen Feng felt confident that entrusting Yin Feng to her care was the right choice.

Chen Feng smiled and said, “Don’t be angry. I spoke wrongly. Let’s not talk about money. When you saved Teacher Yin and all those other people in Tibet, you weren’t doing it for any gain. You’re a good police officer, truly upright and honest—I was being vulgar. I’m sorry!”

These words were more palatable, and You Mingxu remained silent.

Chen Feng observed her reaction carefully and quietly pressed forward, “But you see, Teacher Yin is very dependent on you now. I can’t keep him locked up, nor could I even if I tried. Even if I take him back today, tomorrow—perhaps not even tomorrow, but tonight—he’ll run out to find you again. Should we let him sleep in the hallway again? Teacher Yin has always been stubborn, and even with his current mental state, I bet he could do this every day. That would disturb you and affect your life more, wouldn’t it? Your apartment is a two-bedroom anyway, with one room empty. Why not let him have that room, just like having a roommate? Going along with his wishes might even help him recover faster. Wouldn’t that be best for everyone?”

You Mingxu gave him a look, her gaze somewhere between amused and not. Chen Feng knew of her renowned beauty and cold demeanor, and being fixed with such a look made him somewhat uncomfortable. He unconsciously turned his head toward the balcony.

You Mingxu followed his gaze.

That fellow had sat down at some point, his back to them. The balcony railing now blocked most of his view. He kept his head down and didn’t turn around, sitting completely still.

You Mingxu thought: He probably knows that his assistant is negotiating with her, deciding whether he stays or goes.

She moved her gaze away, feeling as if there was a small sun in the corner of her vision, desperately trying to shine, but she didn’t want to see it.
