Chapter 96: Ye the Third

After Jiang Li, Tong’er, and Bai Xue finished visiting Xihua Tower, the sky had already darkened. They didn’t continue wandering outside, nor did they go to Lizheng Hall, but instead returned directly to the Ye Mansion.

None of the Ye family’s servants dared to control her movements, making it very convenient for her to come and go. However, after returning, Jiang Li specifically asked Tong’er to inquire about Ye Jia’er’s situation and learned that Ye Jia’er had not yet returned.

For an entire afternoon, since Jiang Li had left Lizheng Hall, Ye Jia’er had been staying there. If it was purely business-related, by evening Ye Jia’er should have returned. Now that she hadn’t come back, Jiang Li speculated it was related to the “Uncle Zhuang” and “Uncle Zhao” that Ye Jia’er had mentioned earlier. The small trouble with the Ye family’s business seemed not so small after all.

But even if she asked the Ye family members now, they wouldn’t tell her the truth. After all, they hadn’t yet “reconciled,” and for a visiting guest who wasn’t very familiar, such family matters needn’t be discussed too much.

The time wasn’t right yet.

Jiang Li didn’t concern herself further with Ye Jia’er’s affairs. Today, having seen Qiongzhi, she had resolved one matter weighing on her heart and felt much lighter. That night, for the first time in ages, she felt drowsy early and went to bed to rest.

A night of pleasant dreams.

Starting from that day, the Ye family members suddenly became busy. Over the following days, when Jiang Li walked around the Ye Mansion, she only encountered the mansion’s stewards and maids. Forget about Ye Mingxuan and Ye Minghui—even Zhuo Shi and Guan Shi were absent. Ye Rufeng and Ye Jia’er were nowhere to be found either. Sometimes even during mealtimes no one was present. The steward simply set up a small kitchen for Jiang Li, so that whenever she needed to eat each day, she didn’t have to go to the front hall but could eat alone in her own courtyard.

It wasn’t that the Ye family looked down on Jiang Li—it was truly that the Ye family members were so busy they didn’t even eat at the mansion. If it weren’t for knowing about the Lizheng Hall incident, one might almost suspect that such a large mansion had no master present at all.

Jiang Li vaguely sensed that the Ye family’s troubles were not minor, but with no one to be seen, even if she wanted to inquire it would be futile. When she sent Tong’er to make inquiries, the Ye Mansion’s maids also didn’t know clearly. Jiang Li felt quite helpless in her heart.

On this particular day, the weather was fine.

Late autumn turning to early winter—Xiangyang being in the south was somewhat warmer than Yanjing, and winter arrived later. Jiang Li wore an outer garment and stood in the courtyard watching Tong’er and Bai Xue making decorative knots.

The two maids had become somewhat lazy at the Ye Mansion. After all, it wasn’t their own home, so they had no interest in tending flowers and plants. Sometimes during the day, as long as they finished their morning tasks, they had nothing else to do. Jiang Li taught them to read and write to pass the time.

Tong’er yawned and said, “The Ye Mansion has no one around again today.”

To say there was no one was of course incorrect—the Ye Mansion had plenty of people, just all servants. When asked about Ye family matters, they knew nothing, so Tong’er had lost all interest in chatting with them.

“Isn’t it good that no one’s restraining you?” Jiang Li teased her. “You’re finally free.”

“Miss makes it sound like this servant loves to run wild everywhere,” Tong’er pouted. “This servant is feeling indignant on Miss’s behalf. Not only are the Ye family members all absent, they haven’t even mentioned letting Miss see Old Madam Ye. These servants are even more tight-lipped about Old Madam Ye. We’ve been here so long, and Miss doesn’t even know which courtyard Old Madam Ye lives in.”

The Ye family indeed seemed to have no intention of letting Jiang Li meet Old Madam Ye right now, nor did they say when exactly she could meet her. The waiting continued indefinitely. Jiang Li could actually take advantage of the Ye family members’ absence to find Old Madam Ye and meet her herself, but doing so would only worsen the Ye family’s impression of her and make repairing the relationship even more difficult.

Moreover, as the Ye family members had said, Old Madam Ye’s health was currently poor. If meeting Jiang Li made her too agitated and caused any mishap, that would truly be Jiang Li’s fault.

So Jiang Li didn’t actively touch that fragile thread. It was better to remain willfully ignorant.

Looking up at the sky, with such good sunshine today, Jiang Li said, “Let’s go out for a walk.”

Staying in the Ye Mansion all the time wouldn’t accomplish anything. Better to go out and look around.

Upon hearing this, Tong’er immediately perked up. Pulling Bai Xue to her feet, she said, “Wonderful! Where does Miss want to go?”

“Just walk around,” Jiang Li smiled.

The group left the courtyard together. The gatekeeper didn’t stop her, only asking if she needed guards. Jiang Li politely declined. Just then, she suddenly saw a caravan of horses and carts stop in front of the Ye Mansion gates.

It appeared to be a merchant convoy, as the horses all carried bundles on their backs, and the carts had heavy wooden crates tied behind them.

Jiang Li’s steps paused slightly. Were these guests of the Ye family?

The convoy stopped, but there were no guards—only a groom and someone who looked like a servant. That servant saw Jiang Li standing at the entrance and looked her over with surprise, then quickly walked toward the cart. A man jumped down from the cart.

This man had a scar the length of a little finger on his left cheek. He wore a dark brown short fitted outfit with what appeared to be a layer of soft armor underneath, looking like a peddler or porter. However, the boots on his feet were deerskin boots embroidered with gold trim—clearly very expensive at a glance.

Jiang Li was startled. This person was exactly the man she had encountered at the back entrance of Xihua Tower after seeing Qiongzhi not long ago. At that time, this man had also looked at her several times. Jiang Li had felt this person seemed somewhat familiar, yet was truly and completely a stranger.

She hadn’t expected to encounter him here.

The gatekeeper servant saw this person and immediately cast Jiang Li aside, greeting him with delight: “Third Master, you’ve returned!”

Third Master Ye? This person was Ye Mingyu!

Jiang Li suddenly understood. So this person was the scoundrel master of the Ye family, Ye Mingyu, who was also born on the same day as her mother—Uncle Mingyu. No wonder she felt familiar with him, yet he was indeed a stranger. She and Ye Mingyu had never met, but being connected by blood to Ye Zhenzhen, there was some resonance.

Ye Mingyu laughed heartily as he greeted the gatekeeper, and at that moment also saw Jiang Li. He fixed his gaze, clearly also recognizing that Jiang Li had once crossed paths with him at the entrance of Xihua Tower. Full of doubt, he asked the gatekeeper, “This young lady is…”

The gatekeeper looked extremely awkward. He coughed lightly and said, “This is the young miss from Yanjing, Second Miss Jiang.”

Ye Mingyu’s servant, who had been laboriously carrying items toward the mansion gates, suddenly let the box in his hands slip, and it fell to the ground with a loud “clang.”

Ye Mingyu was also greatly shocked.

Second Miss Jiang—wasn’t this the daughter of his twin sister! It should be known that Ye Mingyu still held considerable affection for this niece he’d never met. He could be counted as one of the Ye family members who still retained some feelings for Jiang Li. When Ye Minghui and Ye Mingxuan had gone to fetch Jiang Li, Ye Mingyu had been away on business. Master Ye and Second Master Ye had both personally heard Jiang Li’s hurtful words, but Third Master Ye had not heard them. Therefore, Third Master Ye didn’t brood over it like his two elder brothers.

Moreover, wandering the rivers and lakes, he was naturally rough and magnanimous, his heart broader than others. Simply put, he was big-hearted and thought that since Jiang Li was young, saying the wrong thing didn’t matter much. If it weren’t for Old Madam Ye falling ill from anger over it later, he would have insisted on going to Yanjing to bring Jiang Li back despite the family’s objections.

Later, Ye Mingyu often went to sea with merchant fleets, returning only once a year, which gradually made him abandon the idea of bringing Jiang Li back.

He hadn’t expected that at this moment, in this place, he would meet this legendary niece. Ye Mingyu almost suspected he was dreaming. Jiang Li had come? How could Jiang Li possibly come to Xiangyang? She was Jiang Yuanbai’s daughter, the legitimate young miss of the Chief Minister’s household. How could she travel such a long journey to Xiangyang? And how would the Ye family let her enter their doors? Didn’t the Ye family detest Jiang Li? Yet this young girl before him clearly seemed to be living quite well at the Ye family home?

Damn it, what was all this mess about?! Why hadn’t Second Brother Ye mentioned any of this in his letters? Was he dreaming?

A thousand words and ten thousand phrases blocked Ye Mingyu’s throat. For a moment he didn’t know what to say. Seeing him like this, Jiang Li instead smiled and said, “You must be Uncle Mingyu. I’m Jiang Li.”

Only then did Ye Mingyu come back to his senses in a daze. He asked, “Jiang… A Li, how can you be here?”

“Uncle Mingxuan came to Yanjing and stopped by the Jiang family to visit. I came back to Xiangyang with Uncle Mingxuan, wanting to see Grandmother.” Jiang Li glanced at what was behind Ye Mingyu. “Uncle Mingyu just returned, but there’s no one much at the Ye Mansion right now.”

“If there’s no one, never mind—they’re not important anyway.” Ye Mingyu waved his hand. “A Li, I’ll go put away my things first and see Mother. Tell me what all this is about.”

Jiang Li paused. Ye Mingyu was certainly direct, not treating herself as an outsider. But this was actually good. She had planned all along to make Ye Mingyu the breakthrough point with the Ye family, but Ye Mingyu had been delayed in returning, and she didn’t know what kind of person he was. Now having met him, Ye Mingyu was even more informal than she’d imagined. This was very good.

There was no need to go out today. Jiang Li smiled. “Alright, I’ll wait for Uncle Mingyu in the front hall. However,” she smiled, “I still haven’t seen Grandmother. Grandmother also doesn’t know about my return to the Ye family. When Uncle Mingyu sees Grandmother, please don’t mention me, lest Grandmother become agitated and harm her health.”

Ye Mingyu was stunned again. Jiang Li said she had returned to Xiangyang precisely to see Old Madam Ye, yet now said that up to this point she hadn’t seen Old Madam Ye, and Old Madam Ye didn’t know she had returned. What was going on? What were First Brother Ye and Second Brother Ye playing at?

Ye Mingyu only felt his brain was a complete mess. Unable to sort things out for the moment, he could only agree to Jiang Li’s words and went to attend to his tasks first.

Jiang Li turned and walked toward the front hall.

Tong’er asked, “Miss, so we’re not going out for a walk anymore?”

“Not going.” Jiang Li smiled. Going out for a walk was just to find out what had happened with the Ye family. Since Third Master Ye had already returned to the mansion, there was no need to go out—she could learn everything from Third Master Ye’s own mouth.

It seemed Third Master Ye was an easy person to talk to.

Returning to the front hall, Jiang Li sat at the table. Bai Xue brewed a pot of tea. Ye Mingyu hadn’t come yet, but Jiang Li wasn’t anxious and waited patiently.

Her patience had always been excellent. Even the Ye family servants attending her had noticed this. No matter how long the wait, Jiang Li’s expression was always calm and gentle, without a trace of restlessness. For a girl of this age, this was quite rare. She had none of the spoiled airs of a wealthy young miss, as approachable as a girl next door.

However, even as a girl next door, she was one whose inner heart others couldn’t enter.

After an unknown amount of time, Ye Mingyu finally returned.

As soon as he saw Jiang Li, his eyes lit up and he laughed heartily. “I thought you’d already left. How was it—did you wait long?”

“Not long.” Jiang Li also smiled. “Haven’t even finished one cup of tea.”

Ye Mingyu plopped down across from Jiang Li. As soon as he sat down, he immediately asked impatiently, “A Li, I just got back from outside and don’t know what happened. How did you suddenly come back to Xiangyang?”

“I already told you,” Jiang Li said helplessly. “I wanted to come back to see Grandmother, so I came back together with Uncle Mingxuan.”

“But you still haven’t seen the old madam up to now, have you?” Ye Mingyu said.

“It’s not that I don’t want to see Grandmother. Uncle Minghui and Uncle Mingxuan said that the old madam’s health isn’t good, and the timing isn’t right. If she sees me rashly, she’ll inevitably become upset and harm her health. I’ve been in Xiangyang for nearly half a month and still haven’t found a suitable opportunity.”

After hearing Jiang Li’s words, Ye Mingyu’s face showed embarrassment. He naturally understood the implication in Jiang Li’s words—it was the Ye family members blocking her from seeing Old Madam Ye, not that Jiang Li herself was unwilling. Although Ye Mingyu hadn’t been in Xiangyang at the time of those past events, he’d heard about it later. He also knew about the Ye family’s coldness and discourtesy toward Jiang Li. If Jiang Li suddenly returned to the Xiangyang Ye family, the Ye family certainly wouldn’t welcome her warmly.

But Ye Mingyu also couldn’t presume to let Jiang Li meet Old Madam Ye right now on his own authority.

He awkwardly changed the subject. “I see.”

Jiang Li smiled. “Uncle Mingyu has worked hard this time.”

Ye Mingyu laughed. “What hardship do I have? I’m just out enjoying the mountains and waters.”

What Ye Mingyu called “going to sea for business” actually didn’t profit the Ye family much each year. The Ye family members were too lazy to restrain him. He said it was doing business, but really it was enjoying the mountains and waters. Precisely because his heart was too set on play, even now that Jiang Li was fifteen years old, Ye Mingyu—the same age as Ye Zhenzhen—still hadn’t married.

This had almost become Old Madam Ye’s heartache. Every New Year when Ye Mingyu returned to Xiangyang, Old Madam Ye would busily try to find him a suitable young lady. But Ye Mingyu was quick to escape. As soon as the New Year passed, he’d immediately set off on the road, slipping away to distant mountains and long waters.

“That may be so, but not everyone has such courage to enjoy mountains and waters.” Jiang Li smiled. “Not being bound by worldly conventions, doing as one pleases—a person lives one life, isn’t it all about living happily? Having seen different famous mountains and great rivers, with broadened horizons, one is actually freer than those who stay in mansions all day.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Mingyu froze, and in the next moment, excitement surged in his heart. He almost regarded Jiang Li as a kindred spirit. Everyone who knew him thought he was fooling around. As a descendant of the Ye family with boundless family wealth, instead of properly managing the family business at home, marrying and having children, he insisted on wandering the rivers and lakes, enjoying mountains and waters—simply not attending to proper work. But from deep in his bones, he didn’t like stability. He liked adventure and gaining knowledge, just as eagles cannot be confined under eaves, and spirited horses cannot be tied in stables.

But in the Ye family, only one person understood him—Ye Zhenzhen. Perhaps because of their blood connection, precisely because of Ye Zhenzhen’s understanding back then, Ye Mingyu had always been reluctant to distance himself from Jiang Li. But later Ye Zhenzhen died, and the last person who understood him was also gone.

Yet unexpectedly, here, Jiang Li had once again spoken words similar to those Ye Zhenzhen had said.

Ye Mingyu couldn’t help feeling moved. Everyone said Ye Zhenzhen was simple and honest, without much cunning, not clever enough. But Ye Mingyu believed that precisely because Ye Zhenzhen was such a kind-hearted person, she could understand simple truths. Looking carefully, Jiang Li’s appearance wasn’t the same as Ye Zhenzhen’s. Compared to Ye Zhenzhen’s roundness, Jiang Li was much more delicate and refined, resembling Jiang Yuanbai—clear and beautiful, and also more clever.

But she was Ye Zhenzhen’s daughter after all.

Jiang Li noticed the gentleness in Ye Mingyu’s gaze. Her heart stirred. Ye Mingyu’s attitude toward her had softened—this was a good thing.

Ye Mingyu felt he got along wonderfully with this niece, and Jiang Li wasn’t at all like what Ye Minghui had described as willful and snobbish. Having traveled far and wide for so many years, he’d seen plenty of spoiled young misses. Jiang Li, however, was incredibly gentle, her features and expressions all soft and mild. But this softness was different from his niece Ye Jia’er’s. Ye Jia’er was steady and proper, while Jiang Li was exceptionally bright. Her perspective seemed different from ordinary young ladies in the inner quarters, appearing more unique. She was a girl with great “vision.”

Not only because she was Ye Zhenzhen’s daughter—Ye Mingyu genuinely liked this young girl from the bottom of his heart.

He scratched his head and suddenly thought of something. “You’ve come back this time, and I don’t have anything special to give you. My merchant convoy brought back some trinkets from the sea.” He was rarely somewhat embarrassed. “But you’re from Yanjing, so these things aren’t anything rare. I just thought they were interesting and bought them. I don’t know if you’ll like them, A Li.”

Ye Mingyu’s purchases naturally followed his whims. Even the trading he did with the sea merchant fleet was as willful as the man himself, certainly never considering whether it could make money, purely based on preference.

Jiang Li smiled. “Interesting things are much rarer than precious things.”

“You’re right,” Ye Mingyu strongly agreed with this statement from Jiang Li. He called to his servant beside him, “A Shun, go bring over a chest!”

What a impetuous temperament indeed.

Jiang Li smiled without speaking. She would have a good talk with this Uncle Mingyu, deepen their bond. Only then would Third Master Ye stand on her side and help her “reconcile” with the Ye family.

A Shun and Ye Mingxuan’s servant A Fu should be a pair of brothers—they looked somewhat similar, but their personalities were completely different. A Fu was refined and shrewd like Ye Mingxuan, while A Shun was clumsy and rough like Ye Mingyu. He quickly brought over a rosewood chest. There had been many such chests in Ye Mingyu’s merchant convoy before.

Ye Mingyu had A Shun open the chest and asked Jiang Li with a smile, “A Li, which one catches your eye? Uncle will give it to you.”

The Ye family members seemed to really enjoy saying this phrase? Jiang Li thought. When Ye Jia’er had taken her to Lizheng Hall, she’d said if she liked that bolt of cloth, she’d give it to her. Now Ye Mingyu was saying whichever trinket she fancied, he’d give it to her. Perhaps this was just how enormously wealthy families were—rolling in money and also very generous?

Jiang Li lowered her head to look into the chest.

The chest contained all sorts of miscellaneous items. There were some pearls and cat’s eye stones—these could be considered valuable. There was also a kaleidoscope. There was a small wooden box that, when you pressed the mechanism, a little figure would pop out and dance—very interesting. There was also something like a long tube. As soon as Jiang Li picked it up to look at it, Ye Mingyu said, “This is a kaleidoscope. Let me teach you how to…”

Before the word “use” left his mouth, Jiang Li had already skillfully picked it up, placed it to her eye, and turned the axis wheel.

Ye Mingyu choked on his words. A Shun looked at Jiang Li in surprise. Even the well-traveled Ye Mingyu couldn’t figure out how to use this thing when he first saw it, yet the young miss from the Jiang family seemed very practiced with it. Could she have seen it before? But hadn’t that sea merchant said almost no one in Northern Yan knew about this thing?

“Have you seen it before?” Ye Mingyu asked.

“No.” Jiang Li smiled. “I just saw someone record it in a travel journal. This is my first time actually holding it in my hands.”

Xue Zhao was very fond of these strange and peculiar things, and liked to read miscellaneous books behind Xue Huaiyuan’s back. However, this habit meant the house accumulated many rare volumes, and Jiang Li also learned about many special things.

Ye Mingyu’s regard for Jiang Li rose even higher. He felt Jiang Li was very compatible with him.

Jiang Li then picked up something that looked like a shell. This shell was quite distinctive, like a peacock’s feather, vivid and dripping with color. Looking carefully, when held up to sunlight it would reflect tiny glimmers of light, rippling with brilliance. Placed next to the cat’s eye stone, it wasn’t outshone at all.

“This is peacock feather.” Seeing Jiang Li examining the shell in her hand, Ye Mingyu said, “I bought it back from the sea merchant fleet this time. I thought this thing was novel and good-looking, so I bought a lot—the chests in my rooms are all full of them. But after I came back and asked around, when people heard these were shells, they couldn’t name a price. I bought these peacock feathers with real gold and silver, but this time I’ve probably lost my investment.” He sighed with regret.

Jiang Li disagreed. Ye Mingyu only saw that these peacock feathers looked beautiful and rare, but that couldn’t change the fact that they were shells. Even the dullest cat’s eye stone would be worth more than the most beautiful peacock feather—this was beyond doubt. However, Ye Mingyu probably never concerned himself with business matters and had no insight into business. Making such absurd mistakes was quite normal. She just didn’t know what expressions First Master Ye and Second Master Ye would have when they returned and saw this chest full of shells.

Ye Mingyu suddenly thought of something and looked at Jiang Li. “Since you like them, this whole chest of peacock feathers is yours. A Shun, when you’re done, carry this to the young miss’s courtyard.”

Before Jiang Li could stop him, A Shun immediately agreed and carried off the chest with huffing and puffing. Jiang Li suspected that Ye Mingyu, seeing he couldn’t sell these peacock feathers and finding nowhere else to store them, had simply decided to have Jiang Li help him solve the problem.

But it wasn’t good to refuse.

“Then many thanks to Uncle Mingyu.” Jiang Li smiled.

“No need to thank me, no need.” Ye Mingyu waved his hand. “If you don’t have enough, I have plenty more—several chests are fine.”

Jiang Li: “…”

If they continued talking, Ye Mingyu might really pile all the peacock feathers into her courtyard. Jiang Li said, “Uncle Mingyu, let’s talk about something else.”

At these words, Ye Mingyu suddenly slapped his thigh. “If you hadn’t said so, I would have been fine, but now that you mention it, I remember—look at me, I’ve been talking to you for so long and forgot to ask you about something. A Li, a few days ago I saw you at Xihua Tower—I didn’t recognize you wrong, did I? What were you doing at Xihua Tower, perfectly fine as you are?”

Ye Mingyu recalled that when he’d first seen Jiang Li moments ago, he’d recognized her as the young girl he’d encountered at Xihua Tower. At that time he’d found it strange—women who came to Xihua Tower looking for someone were all matrons. This young girl wasn’t dressed like a matron, and her demeanor was very calm. How strange. And when he saw her, he’d also felt she looked familiar, as if he’d seen her somewhere before. Thinking about it now, the familiarity he felt at the time was probably his blood relationship reminding him that this was his niece.

Jiang Li smiled and said, “I also have something I want to ask Uncle Mingyu. Uncle Mingyu arrived in Xiangyang at least three days ago and even ran into me at Xihua Tower. Since you arrived so early, why didn’t you return to the Ye family?”

A trace of embarrassment flashed across Ye Mingyu’s face. He raised his hand to rub his nose. “I… was familiarizing myself with the environment, making some preparations.”

He didn’t say it explicitly, but Jiang Li understood. Ye Mingyu really had gone to Xihua Tower for pleasure, and probably went in through the back door specifically to avoid being discovered and having someone tell the Ye family. As for why he wouldn’t enter his own home when he was right at the gates, it was probably because he didn’t want to return so early and face the nightmare of the Ye family nagging him about when he would marry.

Jiang Li hadn’t come to hear about Ye Mingyu’s romantic adventures, so she just nodded. “I didn’t know Xihua Tower was that kind of place. I thought it was just a tavern. Since there was no one outside, I went up to take a look. After I realized what kind of establishment it was, I left, and that’s when I happened to run into Uncle Mingyu.”

“I see.” Ye Mingyu understood. He didn’t think much of it. After all, the idea that Jiang Li would deliberately go looking for a pleasure house to visit—if you told this to anyone in Xiangyang City, even a beggar on the street wouldn’t believe it. Forget the Chief Minister’s daughter who wouldn’t touch anything unclean—even ordinary girls wouldn’t go to such places.

“Uncle Mingyu, there’s something I’d also like to ask you.” Jiang Li hesitated, then spoke.

“What is it? Go ahead.”

“Uncle Mingyu’s return to Xiangyang this time probably isn’t just to visit Grandmother. The Ye family’s business seems to have encountered some trouble. Even Uncle Mingyu has rushed back, so this trouble probably isn’t easily resolved.” Jiang Li looked at him. “Can you tell me what exactly has gone wrong?”

Ye Mingyu was startled. He never expected Jiang Li would ask about this. For a moment he couldn’t quite decide—this concerned the Ye family’s business, so he was slightly more cautious. But Jiang Li, who had been speaking warmly with him all this time, just stared at him unblinkingly, very insistent.

Being stared at by Jiang Li, Ye Mingyu somehow felt his heart soften. Thinking that Jiang Li was actually half a Ye family member, and the Ye family guarding against her like guarding against a thief would make the young girl feel hurt inside, he said, “Actually it’s not a big deal. Our Ye family’s fabric gets sent to garment shops in various places every year. Especially the Guxiang satin—you also know that even the nobles in Yanjing City love to wear it.”

“Recently this batch of fabric has had some problems. Some people who wore clothes made from Guxiang satin developed many red rashes on their bodies. Even when doctors came to examine them, they couldn’t determine what was wrong. We’re still investigating this matter,” Ye Mingyu rarely showed a few traces of worry on his face, “but I dare say it’s definitely not a problem with the fabric. The weaving workshop is right here in Xiangyang. Big Brother and Second Brother watch over it, and there’s never been any problems. It’s just that when we say this, others don’t believe us.”

He shook his head, looking quite depressed.

Just as he was speaking, footsteps sounded from outside, and then someone called out in surprise, “Mingyu?”

Jiang Li and Ye Mingyu looked toward the entrance. It turned out to be Ye Minghui and Ye Mingxuan returning.
