Chapter 201: It’s Fun Here!

Gu Jinghong asked, “Can the remaining half still be used for medicine?”

Hearing this question, Mo Sigui understood, “You want to drag that person to death with you.”

It wasn’t that he owed An Jiu a great debt of gratitude. Since the precious blood would be wasted if discarded, he might as well give it to someone randomly.

The heart blood of a medicine man was the most crucial ingredient in a potion, and the entire concoction was mainly used to prolong life.

Mo Sigui guessed that someone’s life was short, so they needed the potion to survive.

Receiving no answer, Mo Sigui continued, “The remaining half of the blood still has medicinal effects, but its potency will be significantly reduced. Moreover, I’ve administered other drugs to you. Even if someone extracts your heart blood for medicine later, it will affect the efficacy of the entire potion.”

“Is this effect good or bad for the person taking the medicine?” Gu Jinghong asked.

Mo Sigui shook his head, “I haven’t seen the patient, so I won’t speculate. A drug that benefits you might have miraculous effects on that patient, or it could be deadly poison.”

Gu Jinghong wouldn’t leave any chance of survival for that person, even at the cost of his own life. “Then please, Divine Physician, take all the blood.”

“All right,” Mo Sigui put away his folding fan and stood up. “I need to prepare. Come back here after sunset.”

“Divine Physician,” Gu Jinghong said, “If I could describe the patient’s symptoms, could you add poison to my blood?”

“What you’re suggesting is tempting, but…” Mo Sigui was silent for a long time before saying, “If I did that, it would surely bring endless trouble. Taking heart blood is already a cause for vengeance. If we directly kill that person, it would likely spark a blood feud. If I were alone now, I might try it, but I still have unfinished business.”

Gu Jinghong, being a perceptive person, said, “You mean if someone comes looking, you’d hand over the heart blood?”

“Ha! That’s not how Mo operates!” Mo Sigui said matter-of-factly. “I certainly won’t hand over the heart blood, but I am very interested in that patient.”

Someone who needed to raise a medicine man for heart blood must have an incredibly rare disease. Mo Sigui had always been interested in such conditions.

Gu Jinghong raised the corners of his mouth in a faint smile. “If Divine Physician Mo were a man without country or family, feel free to save them. What happens afterward is none of my concern.”

Mo Sigui’s expression became solemn, and his gaze turned cold. “You’re from Liao.”

“An enemy of Liao,” Gu Jinghong corrected.

“That’s good,” Mo Sigui gripped the handle of his Ice Dragon Brain fan again, his knuckles turning white. “The old man died at the hands of the Liao people. I won’t actively seek revenge, but for Liao people, I’ll kill everyone I encounter!”

Gu Jinghong smiled, “Excellent! We are kindred spirits.”

Next door, An Jiu suddenly awoke, her heart pounding. It was terrifying! She had fallen into a deep sleep! Except for being unconscious due to severe injuries, this had rarely happened to her before!

She nervously swallowed, raising her hand to press against her chest, trying to calm her racing heart.

For ordinary people, falling into a deep sleep was perfectly normal. However, for an assassin, it could be fatal because enemies might come at any time. An Jiu was currently in Konghe Yuan, where enemies were unlikely to find her, but once was enough. If it became a habit, it would be disastrous!

After regaining her composure, she climbed out of the cool water and wrapped herself in a thick cotton robe from the screen. While drying her hair, she sensed something strange about Mo Sigui’s room. When she tried to probe it with her mental power, it felt like hitting a fog, unable to discern the situation there.

Could something have happened?

An Jiu quickly put on her outer robe, hid several concealed weapons on her body, grabbed a dagger, and opened the door silently using a cloth to muffle the hinges. She nimbly leaped onto the roof beam and opened the window above Mo Sigui’s room in the same manner.

In the flickering candlelight, An Jiu saw only Mo Sigui bustling about the room, with strange pouches scattered all over the floor.

Taking advantage of Mo Sigui turning to fetch something, she dropped down from the beam and bent to pick up one of the pouches, casually opening it.

“Aiya!” Mo Sigui turned around and was startled by An Jiu standing there. “Appearing out of nowhere!”

As soon as he finished speaking, he noticed the pouch in An Jiu’s hand and quickly snatched it back. “Itchy hands! Do you dare to touch things in my room randomly? Aren’t you afraid of being poisoned to death?”

“You’re here, so you won’t let me die from poison,” An Jiu tucked the dagger into her waist and sat down at the table to watch him fiddle with various bottles and jars. “What are you being so secretive about?”

An Jiu’s gaze was piercing, making Mo Sigui uncomfortable. He decided to face her directly, “I’m telling you, you weren’t like this before!”

“Like what?” An Jiu asked.

Mo Sigui glanced at her and said, “Before, if I said two more words to you, you’d kick me into the lake. If I raised a hand towards you, you’d break my arm. Now you’re carelessly rummaging through my room without any caution?”

An Jiu stared back expressionless, “First before you could poison me to death, I’d kill you first. Second… I trust you.”

Mo Sigui was silent for a while, then waved his hand irritably, “Stop confessing to me. I’m telling you, I’m not as easily fooled as that blockhead Chu Dingjiang!”

“Blockhead? Is that from the bottom of your heart?” An Jiu’s expression was strange. How exactly had Chu Dingjiang portrayed himself to him?

“Hmph!” Mo Sigui stopped paying attention to her and continued to sort through the items needed for blood extraction.

“Are those talismans?” An Jiu pointed at the pouches on the ground. When she had opened one earlier, she saw yellow paper with vermilion writing inside.

Mo Sigui didn’t look up, “Yes, it took a full three days to make them! Wasted my time, which is more precious than gold! So keep your paws off, don’t mess them up.”

An Jiu asked, “I wanted to know, what are you using these talismans for?”

“These are sound-proofing talismans. Of course, these scribbles alone don’t do much. They need to work with the room’s layout. This way, people outside can’t hear conversations inside.”

“You’re being so cautious. Do you have some recent… dealings?” An Jiu asked with concern.

Mo Sigui hissed and put his hands on his hips, looking at her, “You really can’t say anything nice, can you? What do you mean by ‘dealings’?”

An Jiu thought for a moment, “Conspiracy?”

“Hopeless!” Mo Sigui sighed heavily, organizing things into his medicine box while saying, “Can’t you be a bit more upright in your heart? Everything out of your mouth is nonsense. It’s not that you don’t know better words, you just have a loose tongue!”

“Narrow-minded,” An Jiu frowned. “I just asked you one question. If you don’t want to answer, then don’t. Why all the rambling? You’re the one who needs a beating.”

“Who’s narrow-minded?” Mo Sigui said angrily.

An Jiu frowned even more, “Or is it petty?”

Mo Sigui deflated, waving his hand, “I’m done playing with you. Go wherever you find fun, don’t just stay here annoying me.”

An Jiu sat there, unmoving as a mountain.

“Why are you still here?” Mo Sigui asked, having finished packing his things and seeing she hadn’t left.

“Are you all right?” An Jiu expressed her concern, “You just told me to go wherever it’s fun, did you forget immediately?”

“…”

An Jiu very seriously added, “It’s fun here.”
