Chapter 42 – Kissing You

Li Ting was stunned. By now, all the students in the classroom had noticed the commotion and looked over. Shi Qin and Li Ting sat together, and upon seeing Shen Xingruo’s actions, their first reaction was, “Li Ting, what did you do again?”

Li Ting’s mind went blank. She vaguely realized that Shen Xingruo must have come because of the test papers incident. But she desperately discovered that her ability to retort back fiercely and occupy the moral high ground didn’t exist as she had imagined.

Summoning her courage after a moment of hesitation, she asked, “Evi…evidence?”

Shi Qin?

The whole class?

Normally, shouldn’t someone ask, “What are you doing?” or “Are you insane?”…

Li Ting’s mind was filled with fantasies of countering Shen Xingruo with evidence. But after blurting out her question, she realized her response didn’t make sense.

Quickly trying to cover up her mistake, she feigned ignorance and said, “Shen Xingruo, what… what are you doing?”

Shen Xingruo’s voice remained calm. “Looks like you need me to help refresh your memory in front of the whole class.”

She continued, “You asked for evidence. Today at noon, I checked the surveillance footage in the dormitory security room. At around seven in the morning, you left the dormitory and deliberately went around to the back of the boys’ dormitory where there weren’t many people. You tore up my test paper.”

“Oh, sorry, it was Lu Xingyan’s test paper you tore.”

“Li Ting, if you want to do something wrong, at least use your brain. There are plenty of blind spots in the dormitory area and the school which the cameras don’t cover. Yet you went along where the cameras were and went all the way to the back of the boys’ dormitory. You even found a garbage bin with few people around and tore up the test paper, as if afraid the garbage would be cleared too quickly and I couldn’t find evidence, right?”

She took out her workbook from the three she had thrown, then extracted the torn pieces of test paper from between the pages and scattered them over Li Ting’s head.

“What are you doing, Shen Xingruo? Are you crazy?!”

Li Ting covered her nose and stepped back, screaming.

“Because of you, I went through the trash bin today. If I didn’t put a trash bin over your head, to let you experience it firsthand, it would already be showing mercy because you’re a girl.”

Shen Xingruo threw the workbooks back onto the table. “Now, copy. Mine, Lu Xingyan’s, He Siyue’s. Copy each workbook three times, then find another one and copy it three times. Then take them to Mr. Wang’s office and explain.”

Li Ting’s face turned pale, and she couldn’t utter a word for a long time.

Zhai Jiajing watched from a distance.

Seeing this, she understood the outcome.

She clenched and then released her fists, pretending to be indifferent as she pulled out a book and flipped through it as if it didn’t concern her.

The other students in the class were collectively dumbfounded by the spectacle.

Li Chengfan was playing games with his headphones on. When he heard the girls arguing, he took off one earphone and looked over, equally bewildered.

It wasn’t until he heard “defeat” in his headphones that he came back to his senses, muttering, “Damn, Shen Xingruo is too tough…”

Gradually, everyone recovered and began to piece together what had happened, connecting the dots—

So, the incident with the test papers this morning was that Li Ting stole Shen Xingruo’s… no, stole Lu Xingyan’s test paper, and then mistakenly thought it was Shen Xingruo’s and tore it up.

Someone whispered, “Li Ting is out of her mind, why is she acting like this?”

“Needless to say, she must be jealous of Shen Xingruo. She shares a dorm with her, and Shen Xingruo outshines her in everything. Just put yourself in her shoes.”

Lu Xingyan had already been awakened by the scolding from Shen’s discipline committee.

When he first woke up, he was still a bit confused, subconsciously thinking that Shen Xingruo was scolding him.

Now he was chewing gum with one hand in his pocket, leaning back in his seat, enjoying the show of the white peacock classroom opening, finding it quite amusing.

Comparing Shen’s teaching to Li Ting’s classroom education, he suddenly realized that Shen, as his lifelong teacher, was quite polite.

The class was in an uproar because of Shen Xingruo’s sudden outburst. It wasn’t yet time for class, and students from other classes passing by also stopped to watch the commotion.

Li Ting was being pointed at and whispered about, feeling the most shameful she had ever felt. Her face went pale, then red. She felt incredibly anxious, her heart pounding, and she almost cried.

Seeing she was about to burst into tears again, Lu Xingyan casually grabbed a pen from his pencil case and threw it over.

Li Ting didn’t dare to cry anymore. Even after Shen Xingruo left, Li Ting’s mind was still a mess, unable to understand why her actual response was so different from what she had imagined.

But she knew it wasn’t just because she was afraid of Lu Xingyan. After all, when Shen Xingruo came, her mentality had already collapsed.

At this moment, she truly understood why Yang Fang from Class 2 was so timid.

—Shen Xingruo’s combat power was off the charts, she was simply not someone to mess with.

Li Ting had two close girlfriends who arrived in the classroom late and didn’t know what had happened. Seeing Li Ting silently crying, with her eyes swollen and refusing to speak, they had to ask Meng Feng.

However, today’s events reminded Meng Feng of the fear he felt during the parent-teacher conference dominated by the Double Star Group. He looked reluctant and uninterested in gossip, simply saying, “She offended Shen Xingruo, something about the test papers.”

The girlfriends glanced at Shen Xingruo.

Of course, they wouldn’t dare to confront Shen Xingruo themselves. But they could go tell Chen Zhu.

Li Ting often boasted about her good relationship with Chen Zhu. So, if Li Ting was being bullied, Chen Zhu should help her out.

With that in mind, the two girls set off to find Chen Zhu in Class 3.

Chen Zhu had recently taken a liking to a boy from the science class. When she heard someone was looking for her, she thought it might be her love rival coming to find trouble.

Without even putting down her nail polish brush, she walked toward the back door.

Seeing two unfamiliar girls, she casually asked, “What’s up?”

“Chen… Chen Zhu.”

One girl called out but then hesitated to speak, nudging the other girl.

The other girl plucked up her courage and said, “Um, Chen Zhu, we’re friends of Li Ting. She’s being bullied in our class.”

“Li Ting?”

Chen Zhu’s face showed she had no idea who that was. Seeing the two girls looking puzzled, she asked, “Which class are you from?”

“Class 1.”

Chen Zhu recalled. She wasn’t familiar with Li Ting, nor did she know who among her acquaintances she was referring to. But she knew Li Ting was among the group of friends she hung out with and had gone out with them a few times. She also remembered Li Ting was Shen Xingruo’s roommate. The last time Shen Xingruo treated them to dinner, Li Ting was there too.

Chen Zhu thought if it wasn’t a big deal, helping out Shen Xingruo’s roommate first, then getting close to Shen Xingruo wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Just as she was thinking about it, the girl said again, “Li Ting seems to be bullied by Shen Xingruo. Shen Xingruo is forcing her to copy the political outline.”

“Who?” Chen Zhu chuckled, shaking her nail polish brush. “You’re saying Shen Xingruo is bullying her?”

This brought some excitement to her otherwise dull life. She eagerly pursued, “What on earth did she do to offend Shen Xingruo? Hey, how did Shen Xingruo bully her? Tell me all about it in detail. Did anyone in our class record it? I’d love to see it too.”

The gossipy sisters sensed that something was amiss.

They glanced at each other, hesitating and avoiding the conversation altogether.

For Li Ting, this matter wasn’t particularly suspenseful.

Ever since Shen Xingruo took that fall, her mindset had been shattered. And with the added blow from Lu Xingyan’s incident, it was like adding insult to injury.

She was terrified to the point of near death, feeling both distressed and disoriented. But she couldn’t think of any other solution, so she cried while jotting down notes hastily, rushing to Mr. Wang Youfu’s office before the end of the school day to confess her mistake.

Zeng Guiyu was infuriated and couldn’t calm down. She adamantly refused to attend math class the next day.

It was convenient that such an easy target came along. After Wang Youfu finished reprimanding Li Ting, he handed her over to Zeng Guiyu.

After all, it was an issue that happened during her math class, so it was only normal for her to handle it.

Zeng Guiyu had both a platform and a reason to vent her anger. She scolded Li Ting for a full hour.

Li Ting felt like her life was in shambles after the scolding and didn’t even want to return to her dormitory. She went straight home instead.

While Zeng Guiyu was lecturing, Wang Youfu wasn’t idle either. He wondered about this young girl; how was she raised at home to be so unruly?

Living in the dormitory, she was already caught cheating on exams. Who knew what else she might do in the future? So he made a decisive move and called Li Ting’s parents.

During the call, Wang Youfu cited various poisoning cases reported in the news before and engaged in a lengthy discussion with her parents for over an hour.

Li Ting returned home feeling aggrieved, only to be met with a thrashing from her parents and a scolding until she was practically unconscious.

Her parents also informed her that they had arranged for her to take leave on Friday, so she could spend the entire weekend reflecting at home.

They instructed her not to go to the dormitory anymore. Immediately, she began searching for a place to rent near Mingli College. From then on, her mother would accompany her, confiscating her phone and giving her pocket money daily, ensuring she stayed focused on her studies and didn’t cause any more trouble.

Li Ting had never imagined that the consequences of her misdeeds would be so severe.

That night, she had nightmares. In her dreams, Shen Xingruo and Lu Xingyan teamed up against her, attacking her relentlessly until she clung to her blanket, muttering, “I’ll never dare again, I’ll never dare again.”

Li Ting was lucky, though, as Shen Xingruo appeared in her dreams.

But it had been a long time since Lu Xingyan had appeared in Lu Xingyan’s dreams.

Being a teenager in love inevitably led to some restlessness.

Every night before going to sleep, Lu Xingyan would fantasize about holding hands and sharing kisses with Shen Xingruo, and then imagine Shen Xingruo being obedient and submissive to him.

—Of course, all of this was impossible in real life.

Especially on weekends when he had tutoring sessions at home, Shen Xingruo always found creative ways to insult him.

On Saturday night, while waiting for Teacher Shen to arrive and insult him creatively, Lu Xingyan scrolled through his WeChat group of friends, seeking some attention.

When there were no classes, the members of the group chatted incessantly like pea shooters, with messages flying back and forth without pause.

Li Chengfan also shared a new “Scientific Development View” and attached a 200-word short essay to evaluate it.

“Li Chengfan is good-looking, I’m not lying to you guys, the quality is too high!”

“I even dreamt about it after reading it!”

Lu Xingyan wasn’t initially interested, but when he saw the last sentence, he was intrigued. Quietly, he added it to his download list.

The high-definition “Scientific Development View” was usually one or two gigabytes in size, so downloading it was a bit slow. He left it there and gradually forgot about it with his absent-mindedness.

After Shen Xingruo finished showering, she took her notes and homework and knocked on Lu Xingyan’s door.

She was wearing a light yellow sundress, with spaghetti straps, and casually threw on a hooded jacket over it, so as not to make Lu Xingyan, this innocent little virgin, too shy to speak when he saw the straps.

But she didn’t know that just showing off her fair and shapely legs was enough to set Lu Xingyan’s restless mind racing.

Shen Xingruo had already organized her math notes from her first year of high school, and this week she had also taken the time to organize the rest.

Now, she brought her geography notes over to explain the knowledge points about “ocean currents” that Lu Xingyan found particularly difficult to grasp.

Then, she handed him some corresponding exercises and assigned him a few problems.

While Lu Xingyan was working on the problems, she sat beside him, working on a math test.

Seeing Lu Xingyan’s phone lying on the table, she picked it up and shook it. “Let me borrow your calculator, I need to check something.”

Lu Xingyan absentmindedly murmured, “Hmm.”

His phone password was his birthday, something Shen Xingruo had known for a while.

After unlocking it, she opened the calculator app, but before she could input anything, the phone made a “ding” sound suddenly.

A notification appeared at the top of the screen—”Solving the Agricultural Problems in Scientific Development 4″ had finished downloading.

Shen Xingruo’s intuition told her something wasn’t quite right, but her hand was faster than her brain, and she subconsciously tapped on it.

As Lu Xingyan snapped out of his reverie at the sound of the “ding,” he turned to look, and the screen displayed a page of Japanese text, followed by two men and a woman.

…So this is what they mean by agricultural problems.

When Lu Xingyan saw the scene, he couldn’t help but think, “Why are there three people?” and “Why didn’t Li Chengfan clarify? He’s so ambiguous,” then quickly organized his thoughts to explain.

Shen Xingruo had only seen risqué jokes online and had never encountered such explicit content before.

She felt like she was holding a hot potato and didn’t even know where to press to pause it. She tapped a few times and accidentally fast-forwarded, skipping directly to the indescribable scene.

Shen Xingruo wanted to throw the phone at Lu Xingyan’s face, but it was too expensive. So she simply tossed it onto the bed from a distance.

Lu Xingyan glanced at the phone in the distance and tried to explain, “No, I didn’t watch it, I didn’t know…”

Shen Xingruo slapped his face, “How can you be so vulgar!”

As the phone landed on the bed, the noises of the video still echoed loudly.

Shen Xingruo felt her scalp tingling and stood up, ready to leave.

Lu Xingyan refused to let such a shameful image linger in Shen Xingruo’s mind, so he got up and grabbed her wrist, “Hey, Shen Xingruo, wait, listen to me explain.”

“Shut up, do I need you to translate Japanese erotica for me?”

Lu Xingyan felt even more wronged than Du E, “I didn’t know it was three people, and my taste isn’t that heavy.”

“It’s none of your business whether your taste is heavy or not, and let go of my hand.”

Shen Xingruo shook her hand twice but couldn’t break free. And the noise from the video behind them became even more unbearable.

The skin behind her ears had turned a faint pink.

“Of course, it’s my business.”

Lu Xingyan didn’t let go and noticed that Shen Xingruo seemed to be blushing a bit. He lowered his head and teased, “Shen Xingruo, are you blushing? You’re blushing, wow, you can still be shy.”

Shen Xingruo kept a straight face but her ears were getting redder and redder.

She kicked Lu Xingyan, who stubbornly held on and even seemed to be trying to move her hair aside.

She kicked him again and warned, “Virgin, if you keep staring, I’ll kiss you!”
