Bai Youwei’s eyes went wide immediately. She looked at them with the admiration of someone pure and uninitiated: “You’re all so incredible! A score that would take others several runs to achieve, you just casually walked away with 867!”
Only 20 points short of the current top score!
Yuri was also satisfied with the result. His earlier heaviness gave way to a smile as he said, “Partly we benefit from the newcomer bonus points, and partly our coordination is excellent — so the score is naturally high.”
“As long as we keep this up, we’re sure to claim the top record in one shot.” Natasha took a deep breath and sighed, “I really hope we can shake this place off as soon as possible.”
Bai Youwei was quick to chime in enthusiastically: “I want to leave here with my husband as soon as possible too! This is wonderful — I’m sure tomorrow we’ll score even higher!”
It was as though it had already been decided, set in stone, that she would be joining the team in the dungeon tomorrow.
Shen Mo: “…”
…
That night —
Bai Youwei sat with a hair dryer, blowing her freshly washed hair. The entire room was filled with the steady roar of the dryer.
Once she’d gotten her hair half-dry, she began trying out hairstyles — first two braids, then a big bun piled on top, then a simple ponytail.
“Which one looks better?” She turned and asked Shen Mo, who was lying in bed. “In the dungeon my hair needs to be out of the way — how do you like me to wear it?”
Shen Mo thought she looked less like someone preparing for a dungeon run and more like a child getting ready for a school outing.
“The first one you did,” he answered.
“So braids then~” Bai Youwei beamed and nodded. “Alright~ Braids tomorrow. Paired with my stylish windbreaker, color-blocked athletic pants, lightweight sneakers…”
She rummaged through her bag, already picking out hair ties and clips to coordinate in advance.
Shen Mo finally couldn’t hold back any longer. “Weiwei, the dungeon is genuinely dangerous…”
“I know that.” Bai Youwei finished tidying up and climbed onto the bed, burrowing herself into his arms. “That’s exactly why it’s called a test of true feelings — I’m willing to follow you somewhere that dangerous. Aren’t you moved?”
Shen Mo: “…”
After a speechless pause, he sighed and pulled her close. “I’m very worried. I’ll be at the front of the formation, and there may be moments when I can’t look after you… Once we’ve pushed the score up, we’ll find a safer place to live. I won’t let you take these risks again.”
He leaned down and kissed her, wondering to himself how it was that he could love her this much — even without a single memory to anchor it, he still wanted to tuck her away somewhere safe, well beyond the reach of any man who might dare set his eyes on her.
Bai Youwei kissed him back, then nestled against him, soft and compliant, acting spoiled: “Wherever you are is the safest place for me~”
Shen Mo’s heart practically melted at her words. He kissed her again, and again, and then one thing led to another…
A restful night’s sleep followed.
…
The next day, Bai Youwei headed into the dungeon alongside everyone else.
There hadn’t been time to learn about firearms, and there certainly wasn’t time to practice shooting techniques now — so Shen Mo had only one requirement of her: the moment she encountered danger, she was to run immediately!
And not just run in any direction — she had to follow Yuri’s instructions on which way to go.
Bai Youwei agreed to everything, bright-eyed and energetic as she went with them to the subway station.
There had been a surge of teams running dungeons recently, so quite a few people were riding the same line as them. When the indicator light for Queen’s Nest station turned green, the carriage emptied out by half in an instant.
They disembarked along with the crowd.
As they stepped out of the station, the others had already vanished. Each team that entered a dungeon was placed into its own independent space.
Before them stretched an abandoned cityscape — all around were collapsed buildings, with only one structure still standing intact directly ahead: a tall tower.
That must be their destination for this run — Queen’s Nest.

Bai Youwei furrowed her brow slightly and looked up at the sky.
She could see the scrolling live comments floating above — and she could hear what sounded like… a commentator’s voice?
