Bai Youwei’s stuffed rabbit could move on its own.
As long as it exceeded the 2-meter range, it would activate some kind of automatic program and begin its unwavering journey to find its owner.
During this process, if obstructed by a living object, it would release a small amount of electrical energy for defense.
But if it was a non-living object, such as a tent, stone, tree trunk, wall, etc., the rabbit showed no reaction.
Bai Youwei and Shen Mo conducted several more experiments together.
For example, Bai Youwei put the rabbit on the inside of a first-floor room windowsill, closed the glass window, then retreated to a position 2 meters outside the window.
After that, the rabbit would continuously press and nudge against the glass window. Even though the room door on the other side was wide open, it wouldn’t come out through the door.
This showed that the stuffed rabbit had been given a certain level of intelligence, but not complete intelligence.
“If the maze’s data upgrade also affects props, why haven’t the other props shown any changes?” Shen Mo pondered. “Could the maze system have defaulted ‘One-Tenth of Me’ as a game player?”
Bai Youwei shook her head. “If it were recognized by the system as a game player, then when it cleared the maze with me, it should have been tied with me for first place in the rankings. Why didn’t it receive a puzzle piece?”
The first five players to leave the maze all received puzzle pieces.
So this hypothesis didn’t hold up.
Shen Mo furrowed his brows and thought again. “The system performs data upgrades on players based on certain recognition standards. Suppose the system targets all intelligent life forms, and this prop happens to meet the recognition criteria, but because the role of Supervisor itself is excluded from the game, it cannot obtain puzzle pieces?”
“Mm, that’s possible.” Bai Youwei stroked the stuffed rabbit’s ears and said slowly, “After all, the Supervisor’s position in the game is transcendent. Even if it’s only one-tenth, it can’t be equated with ordinary players.”
As she spoke, she thought of something and suddenly smiled faintly.
“I wonder to what degree this data upgrade can reach… In the future, will it become two-tenths, three-tenths, four-tenths… until it becomes a complete Supervisor?”
Shen Mo was momentarily speechless.
Speechless at Bai Youwei’s speculation, and deeply speechless at the existence of Supervisors in general.
However, speaking of upgrades…
Whether they could safely exit the next maze was still unknown.
After a long silence, Shen Mo said flatly, “We’ll see when we get to Hangzhou.”
Bai Youwei hummed in agreement.
After a while, she said softly, “I thought you would choose to go with Zhang Tianyang and the others.”
Shen Mo looked at her upon hearing this.
Her eyes gazed into the distance.
On the quiet night, moonlight spread across the industrial cement pavement, creating an illusion of frost and piled snow.
The two sat side by side at the tent entrance.
Bai Youwei said, “My relationship with my mom isn’t deep, so it’s normal that I wouldn’t go looking for her. What about you? Didn’t you think about finding your dad?”
Shen Mo was silent for a moment, his tone remaining as calm as water. “Given my dad’s personality, he wouldn’t trust that kind of temporary rescue organization. He’d probably seek another way out.”
He paused for two seconds, then continued, “Besides, even if I found him, what then? I’d still need to figure out these games and the mazes…”
He spoke slowly, his gaze dropping slightly to rest on her slightly bent legs.
Thinking about the data upgrade and her physical condition, he wanted to ask about it when Tan Xiao and Cheng Weicai came running from the distance, shouting at them, “Brother Mo! Weiwei! Something’s coming across the lake!”
Their shouts carried breathlessness and weren’t very clear. Shen Mo went forward to meet them and asked, “What’s coming?”
“It looks like a boat!” Tan Xiao said excitedly. “There are lights on the boat! Electricity! And it’s rumbling!”
