Items given out in the Doll Game — every useful one came with various and sundry restrictions attached.
A pair of gloves with the ability to store objects was naturally no exception. They were glaringly, conspicuously white — conspicuous enough that it seemed as though they were meant for the entire world to see, signaling that this was a most unusual item.
Jiang Hao poured the water swiftly over the burning areas on his body, then bit through the pain and slapped at it several times, finally smothering the fire.
He dragged his injured body forward with great effort, his heart burning with a desire to tear Bai Youwei and Tan Xiao to shreds!
Now — where had Bai Youwei and Tan Xiao gone?
…Ha, he of course knew where they had gone.
It was either this escape route or that escape route — no need to think hard about it. And besides, Bai Youwei’s legs were lame, and Shen Fei was injured — they couldn’t have gotten far!
A figure suddenly appeared in his field of vision.
It was Luo Bin.
Jiang Hao was mildly startled, then his heart stirred with an idea.
This kid might have items on him too — nothing compared to what Bai Youwei had, but a mosquito’s leg was still meat. Today’s outing had gotten off to a bad start; whatever he could squeeze out was worth it.
Jiang Hao feigned concern and greeted him: “Why are you here? Did something go wrong with your escape route?”
Luo Bin had been crouching down looking for cover when he suddenly spotted Jiang Hao. He too started slightly, then replied briefly: “Mali and the cat dragged the fire over to that area. I just lost them.”
Jiang Hao’s two hands silently clasped together, and he said: “The fire on this side is getting bigger too. I know a place where we can hide — come with me.”
Luo Bin, half-suspicious, half-credulous, walked toward him. “Which place?”
Jiang Hao: “Over at Adventure Island…”
Boom! —
A colossal steel cat suddenly pounced! Roof tiles came cascading down with a clatter!
The enormous cat’s head loomed low. The girl atop it no longer bore any resemblance to the beautiful creature she had once been — her body was nothing but a metal skeleton now, with unburned remnants of adhesive dangling from the joints, blackened and sticky. Only her eyes remained —
A pair of glass eyeballs glowing green, staring straight at Jiang Hao and Luo Bin!
“Oh my~ look what we have here… two adorable little… mice…”
Mali was grinning hideously, and with every movement of her jaw, charred flakes of skin fluttered down.
Jiang Hao and Luo Bin turned and bolted!
“Meow!~~~”
A terrifying cat screech echoed all around them.
They dived together into a nearby exhibition hall, and overhead came thundering crashes — boom boom boom! Mali and the cat kept up the relentless pursuit!
The cat’s paws hammered down on the roof with crushing force, as though it would smash right through the ceiling and pulverize them underneath!
Jiang Hao’s footsteps abruptly halted. He glanced through the window and caught sight of the Ferris wheel not far off.
He looked once more at Luo Bin running ahead of him, then without further hesitation, launched himself forward — leaping out from the side window of the exhibition hall and sprinting straight for the Ferris wheel!
His original intent had been to let that athletic, muscle-bound simpleton draw Mali and the cat’s attention. Unexpectedly, however, Luo Bin had barely gone a few steps when he came chasing back!
“Jiang Hao! Were you planning to screw me over?!”
Luo Bin bellowed and came running — and he was clearly faster than Jiang Hao, who was burned from head to toe.
Yet his shout also drew Mali and the cat back toward them!
Mali rode the cat and wheeled around in pursuit!
“Idiot!” Jiang Hao couldn’t stop himself from cursing under his breath, his contempt for Luo Bin deepening in his heart.
He picked up speed and sprinted hard for a few steps before launching himself high into the air! At the same time, he whipped out a short length of rubber band!
When that rubber band was first flung out it was barely half a meter long, yet in midair it rapidly extended! As though it had infinite elasticity, it wrapped around a Ferris wheel gondola nearly a hundred meters away!
