Chapter 464 — I’ve Been Waiting

Mali dug up the cruelest words she could find and hurled them in a relentless torrent of curses! Insults! Mockery and laughter!

She stood on top of the crystal stone, her tiny body towering above everything else with unbearable arrogance!

“You filthy, disgusting rats! You all deserve to die!!! Those who can’t find me will die sooner or later! Those who do find me will die all the same! Die! Die!!!”

From below came the clashing of metal, mixed with scattered footsteps.

Mali gave a puzzled “hmm?” and sneered coldly: “They actually chased it all the way here — not bad, I suppose. But no matter how capable you are, this is as far as you go.”

She smiled with poisonous cruelty: “Because as long as I don’t die, my dolls will never die!”

— Dolls never tire, never grow drowsy, never hunger, and they don’t have the fragile, sensitive hearts of people.

As long as Mali lived, her dolls would fight forever!

Shen Mo was ultimately just a mortal man — no matter how capable he was, how long could he last?

The sounds of combat grew closer and closer. Even without seeing what was happening below, Bai Youwei could tell that Shen Mo’s strength was steadily running out.

Before long, the rag doll would come up here and kill her.

Bai Youwei set the rabbit down in silence.

The small fuzzy rabbit pressed its paws to the floor, and blue-violet electricity crackled outward with a fizzing hiss.

The Mali perched on the crystal stone went still for a moment. “Hey! Are you so desperate that you’re grasping at anything?! I already told you, glass is an insulator! And that crystal stone too — also an insulator! You can’t shock me!”

Bai Youwei’s brow gave the faintest furrow. She said nothing.

“Hey! Are you stupid?! I already said it’s useless! Useless!” Mali shrieked, her childlike voice going sharp.

But Bai Youwei seemed not to hear her, and lowered her head to command the rabbit: “Increase the electrical output.”

The crackling sound grew louder.

The glass walls around them emitted a series of creaking groans.

Unease stirred in Mali’s chest — she had the distinct sense that Bai Youwei was scheming something, and she couldn’t sit still. She looked left and right, deeply suspicious.

“Hey! What are you plotting?!” Mali demanded.

Bai Youwei still ignored her and continued issuing instructions to the rabbit: “Increase it further.”

“More won’t make any difference!” Mali yelled with irritation. “A hundred times more won’t make any difference! Even if you shocked me it wouldn’t do anything! I’m a rag doll! I’m not afraid of electricity! I’m not afraid! I’m not—AAAAAHHH!!!”

The glass all around suddenly shattered!

Mali screamed in terror!

She clung to the crystal stone with both arms, her whole body trembling! Explosions and flying glass erupted from every direction!

Finally the sounds of breaking faded. Shaken to her core, Mali looked up — and found the glass walls of the tower’s peak had shattered entirely!

Not a single pane remained!

The summit had become nothing but a bare iron framework!

The extreme electrical current had generated tremendous heat. The heat had warped and twisted the metal frame embedded along the glass edges, and the distortion caused the top floor’s glass walls to be squeezed and shattered from within!

Mali looked down at Bai Youwei again, seething with rage:

“You’re terrible, you wicked woman! Were you trying to scare me to death?! I’m telling you — your scheme does absolutely nothing to me! My dolls are on their way, and when they get here, not one of you will survive — not one!!!”

Bai Youwei looked up at her. The corner of her mouth curved into a mocking smile.

Mali flew into a rage: “What are you smiling at?! What are you smiling at?! Do you realize you’re about to face disaster?! You won’t be smiling much longer!!!”

Bai Youwei narrowed her eyes, smiled softly, and said: “Look — now that the glass is gone, isn’t the view from outside so much more beautiful?”

Mali looked up. “Oh please, it’s just the Jungle Adventure burning into a big bonfire, don’t think that’s going to scare me. Hmph…”

BANG!

An arrow suddenly shot through the air! In an instant it pierced straight through Mali’s cotton body!

Mali was struck by the force and fell straight down —

She couldn’t believe it. Mid-fall, she twisted around with great difficulty and looked back — and spotted a man standing on top of the theater canopy on the other side, who had appeared there at some point without her noticing.

The man held his shooting stance, his eyes cold as ice. He said quietly:

“…I’ve been waiting.”
