My new novel “Fifteen Days Between Two Capitals” (两京十五日) will be officially released on July 10th. It has been three years since the publication of “The Longest Day in Chang’an” (长安十二时辰) in 2017, marking my return to publishing fiction. While I feel gratified, I cannot help but feel somewhat anxious.
I have always believed that regardless of how much readers may like an author, they should purchase a book because they enjoy its content, rather than simply ordering it based on the author’s name. Therefore, I maintain a practice of releasing substantial preview chapters before a book’s launch—offering generous samples that are exactly as advertised.
For this reason, I negotiated with the publisher to arrange for preview readings before the official release. And this preview isn’t just one or two chapters. Starting today, I will release one chapter daily until July 9th, sharing a total of ten chapters—approximately one-fourth of the entire book. This way, you can make an informed decision: if you enjoy what you read, you can proceed with the purchase; if you find it’s not to your taste, you can avoid the investment rather than discover your disappointment after buying the book. Of course, I sincerely hope you’ll enjoy it!
I wish you all a pleasant reading experience, and I look forward to seeing you at the bookstore in ten days!
