Chapter 1201: Training Base

Pei Qian continued: “As for opening stores, there’s no rush. Take your time with it.”

“If you feel your preparations aren’t thorough enough, then prepare more. If you think the plans aren’t mature enough, spend money on developing more plans. Even if you regret it halfway through, you can let me know, and we can scrap everything and start over!”

“In short, don’t be afraid of making mistakes. This task doesn’t have rigid metrics or particularly strict time limits, so what’s there to worry about?”

“The only requirement is that you complete at least one experience store within half a year.”

“That means by February next year, you need to have opened at least one experience store, with no stores still under construction. Understand?”

Tian Mo nodded. “I understand. That requirement is quite flexible, but…”

Pei Qian interrupted him: “If it’s so flexible, what’s with the ‘but’?”

“Uh…” Tian Mo was momentarily speechless.

Indeed, the requirement wasn’t difficult, and there was some flexibility.

To play it safe, he could focus on just one experience store—from site selection to finding designers and decorators. With sufficient funds, launching a trial operation within half a year shouldn’t be difficult.

If he wanted to take a risk, he could even arrange two experience stores simultaneously, though that would mean frequently traveling between two cities.

Tian Mo thought about it. With his current abilities and level, successfully opening one experience store would be good enough.

As for why Mr. Pei required that there be no stores under construction by February?

Perhaps it was to train his planning abilities?

Even if preparations were slow, there needed to be a clear deadline—no indefinite delays.

Originally, Tian Mo had been content being the manager of this one experience store. Even if he did this job for the rest of his life, he would be quite satisfied.

But clearly Mr. Pei wasn’t satisfied and wanted to give him more responsibilities to further develop his skills.

Tian Mo initially felt his abilities weren’t up to the task, so he instinctively tried to decline. But on second thought, wouldn’t refusing disappoint Mr. Pei’s good intentions?

And wouldn’t he be giving up on future career development?

Thinking of this, Tian Mo nodded. “Alright, Mr. Pei. I’ll do my best, and if I don’t do well…”

Pei Qian smiled slightly. “Then that’s fine too.”

“Remember, just two requirements: First, spend more money; second, finish before February. Even if you just find a random store, renovate it, and start a trial operation, you absolutely cannot delay beyond February.”

Tian Mo nodded. “Yes, Mr. Pei, I’ve got it!”

“I’ll go make arrangements right away.”

After settling the matter of the experience store, Pei Qian took another car to the Suffering Travel training base in Jingzhou.

This training base was in an industrial park on the outskirts of Jingzhou. Although located in a remote area, the building itself was quite large and impressive.

This was Pei Qian’s first visit.

After all, he was completely at ease about the Suffering Travel enterprise.

Pei Qian knew very well that Bao Xu would never think about using this business to make money—he only wanted to arrange for more enemies to travel and suffer.

But however reassured he felt, he still needed to take a look now that the training base was ready.

Mainly, he was concerned that Bao Xu might have overlooked something, that the suffering might not be thorough enough, and Pei Qian wanted to remind him to intensify the experience.

After getting out of the car at the venue entrance, Pei Qian looked up. The venue was indeed impressive, covering an estimated area of seven to eight hundred square meters, with a height of nearly 20 meters—about five or six stories high.

Regarding the location, Pei Qian had initially been dissatisfied, thinking it was too remote.

Remote meant lower rent and reduced expenses—how could they spend more money that way?

But then he realized that if they opened in a more bustling area, while the rent would be higher, the chances of becoming popular would also increase.

Considering the risks either way, Pei Qian hadn’t objected to the location.

Now, seeing the entire facility, he was reasonably satisfied.

Mainly because it was huge!

How many Tenda employees would participate in the special training? Even if it opened to the public, there probably wouldn’t be many sign-ups. Although the location was remote, such a large venue must not have come cheap.

And with the venue being so large, there would likely be no shortage of suffering-inducing activities inside.

Bao Xu and Sa Ziran were already waiting at the entrance and led Mr. Pei inside.

Walking through the main entrance, Pei Qian looked around. “What was this place used for before?”

Bao Xu answered honestly: “It was originally a factory building, later rented and converted into a rock climbing gym. After some time, due to low foot traffic and inability to recoup costs, the climbing gym closed down.”

“Ziran and I found this place suitable for rock climbing practice. The previous climbing gym had already done most of the renovations, especially this simulated landscape rock wall, which is excellent and can be used directly. Plus, the venue is large enough for future expansion, so we decided to rent it.”

Pei Qian nodded. “Not bad.”

A former rock climbing gym that went bankrupt? That was a good sign.

The entire venue was very spacious and open. After entering through the main entrance, directly opposite was a massive simulated landscape rock climbing wall nearly 20 meters high. Around it were several shorter artificial rock walls, clearly left over from the previous climbing gym.

These two types of walls looked very different. The largest wall was a simulated landscape rock wall that looked just like a real rock face in nature, fully replicating the texture features of natural rock walls with rich contours. Climbing it would probably feel no different from climbing outdoors.

According to Bao Xu’s introduction, these rock walls weren’t cheap to build. The process was quite complicated, requiring resin and fiberglass to be layered on double-layered base plates, and finally sprayed with resin and quartz sand mortar for surface roughening treatment. Layer by layer of processing was needed to achieve the engineering strength requirements.

Clearly, the original climbing gym had invested a considerable amount, yet still couldn’t escape bankruptcy.

As for the other artificial rock walls, they were purely composed of alloy rock panels, steel frame structures, and professional anchor points, which could simulate various climbing surfaces of different difficulties, including vertical walls, overhanging walls, and eaves. The anchor points could be adjusted at any time to simulate different routes.

These walls just looked like ordinary walls without the realistic feel of landscape rock walls, but they were perfect for beginners to start training on.

Additionally, various safety equipment was provided, including safety ropes, protective gear, all-around foam pads, etc. People were not allowed to climb beyond the 4-meter high red line without safety ropes.

If one could rock climb, one could naturally also rappel down using ropes. These training projects could be adjusted according to needs at any time.

Pei Qian nodded slightly. “Hmm, not bad. Rock climbing is an essential survival skill for the wilderness, so it definitely needs proper training.”

“What about the other areas?”

Bao Xu explained: “The original climbing gym had also turned the other areas into artificial rock walls to accommodate large numbers of visitors for climbing experiences. But we don’t need that many artificial rock walls, so we’ve only kept this section as the climbing area. The other areas are used for training different skills.”

As he spoke, Bao Xu led Pei Qian further inside.

“Currently, the entire training base can be roughly divided into several different areas.”

“The climbing area, which is what we just saw.”

“The physical training area, mainly for basic physical training, including endurance training, strength training, balance training, flexibility training, and so on.”

“The learning area, mainly for learning specialized wilderness survival knowledge. When tired from training, trainees come here to learn and understand theoretical knowledge.”

“The living area, mainly for training in wilderness skills like setting up camps, building shelters, chopping wood, making fires, skinning animals, finding food, and so on.”

Looking around, Pei Qian could see that the climbing area they had entered first occupied the largest space in the entire venue, followed by the physical training area and the living area.

The learning area was the smallest, more like a small conference room with only about twenty chairs, a lectern, and a projector.

There were also some outdoor health protection supplies, such as medicines, bandages, etc., which were clearly part of the teaching content.

The physical training area had a small amount of fitness equipment, but it was obviously different from equipment in regular gyms, indicating different training focuses.

For endurance training, trainees needed to carry backpacks for weighted training. There were also arrangements for frog jumps, weighted squats, single-leg balance, dynamic balance, and a series of specialized targeted exercises to simulate wilderness conditions.

A small section of the physical training area was dedicated to archery and crossbow targets, presumably for shooting practice.

Pei Qian also saw the acupressure board walking area he had emphasized, used to strengthen the soles of the feet in preparation for climbing mountains and traversing dangerous paths.

The content in the living area was even more diverse, with training for setting up tents, chopping branches to make fires or build shelters, eating compressed biscuits, and even hands-on slaughtering of prey and roasting meat.

In short, all practical skills needed for wilderness survival were practiced here.

Pei Qian was puzzled: “If there are already compressed biscuits, why include content about personally slaughtering prey?”

Sa Ziran explained: “Mr. Pei, this is to meet different training requirements.”

“For food and shelter issues, our training is progressive.”

“At first, we arrange for trainees to eat some compressed foods and quick-heating foods; then, they eat compressed biscuits and dried meat cakes; finally, they personally slaughter wild game and cook it.”

“The same goes for shelter. They start by staying in tents, then have no tents and must build shelters and sleep in sleeping bags, and finally even the sleeping bags are taken away.”

“This progressive training allows everyone to adapt step by step.”

Pei Qian curiously looked at the prepared food samples, which included a grayish-white object that looked like a brick. “Is this what you call a dried meat cake?”

Bao Xu hurriedly advised: “Yes, Mr. Pei, but I don’t recommend trying it. Eating it feels like a mixture of dog food and hardboard.”

Pei Qian’s curiosity was immediately extinguished, and he quietly withdrew his hand.

It was clear that Bao Xu had gone to great lengths to arrange things properly for Huang Sibo and the other enemies.

“Good, overall I’m very satisfied.”

“But… do you think there’s room for even greater improvements in the future?”

Pei Qian was already very satisfied with this training base.

But that didn’t stop him from pursuing options that would cost even more money.

Sa Ziran was silent for a moment, then said: “For further improvements… we would need to conduct training in specialized outdoor locations.”

“However, that would be more troublesome, requiring comprehensive modifications to outdoor sites—almost like building an ecological park from scratch.”

Pei Qian’s eyes lit up immediately.

That sounded great!

It sounded like something that would cost a lot of money!

But there was no need to rush. This indoor training base could be used for now. After some time, when the situation with Suffering Travel stabilized, they could invest in building a large outdoor training base.

Plus, this approach had an advantage—nobody could skip classes!

Pei Qian could foresee that some employees would try to avoid training by claiming they were physically unwell.

Forcing such employees to go into the wild could involve some danger.

But if it was their own outdoor training base, there would be no problem—safety would definitely be guaranteed!

First, they would screen people at the indoor training base. Those in good physical condition would be sent to travel around the world, while those in slightly poorer condition couldn’t escape either—they would be sent to the outdoor training base to continue training.

In short, not a single one would be missed. Everything would be arranged perfectly for all of them!
