Chapter 1291: Preparing for “Real Estate Agent Simulator” Promotion

November 2nd, Friday.

Meng Chang arrived at Chixing Studio to investigate the current state of the game “Real Estate Agent Simulator” and prepare for the upcoming promotional work.

In fact, Chixing Studio had always been an independently operated company. Although Tenda Group and Shenhua Group had invested in it, neither would interfere with its operations in any way.

Of course, Mr. Pei would occasionally offer ideas, but this didn’t count as interference since Lin Wan had the freedom to use them or not.

If she didn’t want to use Mr. Pei’s ideas, she could completely create her own.

As for promotional funding, the two parties had previously engaged in a dispute.

Simply put, Mr. Pei had hoped that Tenda would cover the promotional costs, but Lin Wan refused to agree under any circumstances.

Now that Chixing Studio was making money—with “Animal Island VR” and Doubt VR headsets having achieved great success—it was even more impossible for Mr. Pei to contribute funds.

Not only that, but Chixing Studio’s profits would continuously flow back to Tenda Group.

Given the immense popularity of Doubt VR and “Animal Island,” along with the resulting chain reactions like the additional profits from Slackin’ Internet Café and Starbird Fitness, Tenda had already recovered most of the money it had initially invested in Chixing Studio.

After creating another hit game or two, everything afterward would be pure profit.

Of course, if they encountered games requiring particularly enormous investments and Chixing Studio faced difficulties with cash flow, Mr. Pei would be very willing to lend a helping hand.

Meng Chang was still in charge of this promotional plan, partly because Mr. Pei trusted him greatly, and partly because Lin Wan had also come to trust him.

Although these two people’s trust operated on different frequencies, they both trusted him nonetheless.

Meng Chang wasn’t entirely confident about successfully executing this promotion.

On one hand, upon hearing the game’s title was “Real Estate Agent Simulator,” Meng Chang naturally had some concerns. Though Mr. Pei had never made an unsuccessful game, the subject matter itself made Meng Chang feel somewhat uncertain.

Without a good product, even the most vigorous promotion would become water without a source or a tree without roots—this was a core concept Meng Chang had learned from the Pei Promotion Method.

If the game was too niche and couldn’t generate sufficient interest, the promotional plan would be difficult to execute.

On the other hand, Meng Chang also worried that the game might be too successful, attract too much attention, and his commission would go flying.

Since they were using the Pei Promotion Method, mere success at the end wasn’t necessarily considered successful—it had to follow the complete pattern of rise, fall, and rise again to achieve the perfect promotional effect.

Many things’ standards for success couldn’t be judged solely by results but had to be considered alongside the process.

For a poor person to earn a million from nothing was difficult, but for a wealthy tycoon with assets of a hundred million, earning a million was as simple as eating or drinking.

While these two scenarios might appear to have the same result, the processes were different, and so were the difficulties.

If they were to be compared, the wealthy person would need to multiply their assets several times over for the difficulty to be comparable.

So Meng Chang was both somewhat anxious and nervous, while also feeling this was a high-difficulty challenge that could verify his understanding of the Pei Promotion Method.

Upon arriving at Chixing Studio, Meng Chang went directly to find the lead designer, Cai Jiadong.

His main purpose for this visit was to understand the game’s detailed content, which didn’t warrant bothering Lin Wan.

“Brother Meng, how have you been? Thanks again for taking on this promotional work.”

Cai Jiadong’s attitude toward Meng Chang was rather enthusiastic.

Previously, many of Tenda’s veteran employees had harbored prejudices against Meng Chang, but after he had created so many excellent promotional campaigns, these prejudices had largely dissipated.

Moreover, Cai Jiadong wasn’t a veteran employee and didn’t share such prejudices. The last promotional video for Doubt VR headsets had been filmed by Meng Chang with great promotional effect, which had also left Cai Jiadong with a good impression of him.

Meng Chang smiled: “The key is that you’ve made a good product. I’m just adding flowers to the brocade.”

After briefly exchanging pleasantries, they got straight to the point.

Cai Jiadong led Meng Chang to a relatively spacious experience area and handed him a VR headset.

“‘Real Estate Agent Simulator’ is now just finishing up the final touches, but the main game content is all there and won’t affect the gaming experience.”

“You can take this VR headset back with you and experience it at your leisure.”

“If you have any questions, feel free to ask me anytime.”

Meng Chang reached out to accept it: “Great, thank you.”

A single day obviously wouldn’t be enough. The games Mr. Pei designed were typically rich in deeper meanings. Without playing deeply enough, one might only grasp a bit of the surface, far from the actual core.

For Meng Chang to create a promotional plan, he needed to understand the game thoroughly; otherwise, it would be easy to make mistakes.

The purpose of today’s visit was mainly to talk with designer Cai Jiadong and resolve major doubts and questions.

Meng Chang put on the VR headset.

Like “Animal Island,” “Real Estate Agent Simulator,” as an official Chixing Studio game, naturally had an entry point at the initial login interface.

When Doubt VR headsets were first released, they came with exclusive login scenes—three options with “Animal Island” being the default scene. The other options included the command ship space scene from “Mission and Choice” and the Sanzu River scene filled with spider lilies from “Turn Back to Shore.”

Of course, the development department hadn’t been idle during this period and had added two new scenes: a realistic scene from “Real Estate Agent Simulator” and a cartoon gym scene from “Fitness Battle.”

Each had its own style, and players could choose whichever scene they preferred.

All VR games developed by Chixing Studio had dedicated entry points in the Doubt VR headset’s initial scene, perfectly integrated with the game scenes.

For instance, in the “Real Estate Agent Simulator” themed realistic scene, the entire scene was an apartment, and one of the doors served as the game’s entrance.

In other scenes, the entrances varied. For example, in the “Mission and Choice” scene, it was replaced with a holographic projection device.

After the release of “Animal Island,” many game companies began developing VR games that were compatible with the Doubt VR headset.

However, these VR games didn’t receive the same treatment—they were all dumped into the game marketplace for players to download themselves.

The quality of these VR games certainly couldn’t match those from Chixing Studio, but they helped enrich the game library and were very helpful in boosting the sales of VR headsets.

Meng Chang first looked around the default login scene.

It had to be said, the sense of realism was quite strong.

His default standing position was in a spacious living room with bright sunshine and pleasant birdsong outside.

The living room was fully equipped with sofas, televisions, and various pieces of furniture and appliances.

The enormous television was an interactive interface where the basic settings of the VR headset could be adjusted.

Additionally, this interface could be customized in various ways, changing the layout, furniture styles, and more.

Cai Jiadong explained: “The living room you’re seeing now has an initial appearance. Various customizable contents need to be gradually unlocked in the ‘Real Estate Agent Simulator’ game.”

“As players unlock new sofas, new props, etc., in the game, they can bring them to this login scene to create a login scene that belongs uniquely to them.”

“Of course, the login scene also needs to accommodate other players who don’t play this game, so its initial decoration level is fairly high and won’t make people feel shabby.”

In other words, they had brought the house upgrade gameplay from “Real Estate Agent Simulator” to the login interface in a simplified form.

But it wasn’t a 100% copy. In “Real Estate Agent Simulator,” the initial houses were very run-down, with worn furniture, outdated appliances, dirty walls, drafty windows, and other problems that players needed to upgrade step by step.

However, the initial scene’s house was already in a fairly high-end state from the beginning.

This was partly to accommodate players who didn’t play “Real Estate Agent Simulator,” and partly because the VR headset itself had limited performance and couldn’t allocate that much capacity to run the login scene.

Pushing open a door, he entered the game “Real Estate Agent Simulator.”

This game had relatively high configuration requirements because all characters were high-definition models, and the level of detail in the visual presentation was very high, so the VR headset’s performance alone couldn’t handle it.

Like “Animal Island,” it used a solution where the computer ran the game and projected it to the VR headset.

Having played “Animal Island” before, Meng Chang didn’t experience that first-time sense of awe when playing a VR game again.

However, “Real Estate Agent Simulator” was undoubtedly a very realistic game, clearly different from the cute cartoon style of “Animal Island.”
