After performing for some time, the scene on the stage changed again.
These animals seemed to have grown tired, each finding their own corner on the stage to rest.
The large black bear sprawled beside a big rock, exposing its round belly, lost in thought.
The chimpanzee was listlessly playing with a small wooden toy.
Just then, several young men appeared beside the stage, whistling and shouting at the animals on stage.
“Why are you all so lifeless? Move around!”
“I came all this way just to watch these bears sleep?”
“Get up and move for me!”
The young men shouted and made faces at the animals.
One of them even took an empty cola bottle from his backpack and threw it onto the stage, hitting the black bear on the head.
The black bear rushed over angrily but could only pace around the stage since there was a high wall representing a fence that separated him from the young men.
The young man continued laughing recklessly. He made climbing gestures and had already climbed up the barrier representing the high wall, shouting down at the black bear below in a show of bravado while continuing to rummage through his backpack for more things to throw.
The audience instantly fell silent!
Although they could tell this was a performance, the young man’s behavior still made many people uncomfortable. Everyone was waiting to see how the plot would unfold.
Just then, the chimpanzee somehow produced a small stone and threw it at the young man, hitting him squarely.
The young man, who was rummaging through his backpack, lost his balance and fell onto the stage.
The animals that had seemed so listless moments ago immediately surrounded him.
The young man was terrified and quickly knelt down, begging for mercy.
These animals seemed to “understand human nature.” The big black bear escorted the young man to the balance beam, making him walk across it before riding a bicycle.
Under the supervision of these animals, the young man had no choice but to perform various acts like an animal. This role reversal and the actors’ comical performance once again had the audience roaring with laughter.
Finally, after giving this ill-mannered young man a good lesson and making him use all the animals’ performance props, the show formally ended.
The young man led the animals in bowing to the audience, and the animals removed their headpieces, revealing their true selves.
Although the venue had air conditioning, these actors wearing animal costumes were still sweating profusely.
However, their faces were beaming with smiles, clearly satisfied with their performance.
The venue erupted in enthusiastic applause and cheers, evidently very satisfied with the performance, finding it brilliant.
Chen Kangtuo looked back and realized that, unknowingly, all the zoo visitors had been attracted over. Not only were all the seats filled, but many people were also standing in the back.
Clearly, this brilliant stage performance was a huge success!
Chen Kangtuo couldn’t help but exclaim: “I have to say, this animal show was quite impressive. They not only imitated the animals perfectly but also divided the show into different stages with an actual plot.”
Ruan Guangjian nodded: “Yes, and it also had educational value.”
“The performance was divided into three stages. The first stage was humans performing instead of animals, mainly as an imitation show. These actors clearly put in a lot of effort with their movements; otherwise, they wouldn’t have been able to imitate the animals so well.”
“The second stage was interactive pantomime. These animals created storylines among themselves, like fighting over toys or competing on the balance beam. They really portrayed that silly feeling, which was very interesting.”
“The third stage was even more interesting! It should be reflecting some uncivilized behavior of tourists. Many visitors don’t know how to respect animals; they like to feed them inappropriately, throw things, or even deliberately provoke animals just to satisfy their own desires. This is obviously unhealthy behavior.”
“In the play, the animals forced the visitor to perform by riding a bicycle and walking on a balance beam, causing a role reversal between humans and animals. This contrast highlights a special sense of humor while also provoking reflection and discouraging visitors’ uncivilized behavior!”
“Moreover, on a deeper level, this is a special form of performance art!”
“These zoo employees dress up as animals and experience the animals’ lives, allowing them to better understand the frustration and helplessness of animals kept in cages. This itself is promoting the spirit of the Know Yourself Animal Park.”
Chen Kangtuo was thoroughly convinced!
At first, he was thinking, a zoo not using animals for performances is one thing, but using real people to impersonate animals—isn’t that crazy?
But after watching this performance, Chen Kangtuo realized that this was an incredibly brilliant idea.
One could even say that this stage performance injected soul into the entire Know Yourself Animal Park!
However, such stage performances weren’t available every day but were scheduled according to dates. Besides this performance, there were other types of shows.
Chen Kangtuo sighed: “I was a bit worried about this animal park before, but now I see my worries were completely unfounded.”
“With such an impressive zoo, even if there isn’t much promotion at the start, so what? As long as word of mouth gradually spreads, visitors will definitely take notice.”
“And when that happens, connecting with the Terrors Hotel will be perfect!”
Chen Kangtuo felt thoroughly healed. He decided to leave the Know Yourself Animal Park and return to the Terrors Hotel to continue his unfinished task, preparing for the opening of the new project at the Terrors Hotel.
……
That evening.
The zoo had officially closed, and Tan Xinzhang called all the employees, including Tang Yishu, for a meeting.
“Everyone performed very well today, especially the stage performance, which received unanimous praise from the audience.”
“However, the visitor flow is still a bit low. I think our zoo needs to find ways to do some promotion—even fine wine needs advertising!”
“What do you think, Xiao Tang?”
Suddenly being addressed, Tang Yishu was a bit startled and hastily replied: “Um… I, I agree.”
Tang Yishu was specially assigned by Mr. Pei, so Tan Xinzhang valued her opinion very much.
Although Tang Yishu had been very active in the work at the zoo and got along well with the animals, she hadn’t provided any high-level instructions or particularly constructive suggestions so far.
Tan Xinzhang had no choice but to slowly figure things out himself.
He looked at everyone and said: “Does anyone have any good ideas for promotion? Although our zoo has ample funding, Mr. Pei hasn’t given us a specific promotion budget. Maybe he’s hinting that we should be self-reliant.”
“Can anyone think of some promotional methods that cost little money, preferably no money, but still have good results?”
The employees looked at each other, discussed for a while, and soon someone raised their hand to speak.
“Could we contact the person in charge of the Terrors Hotel? Ask them to help direct some traffic our way at their entrance.”
“We could print some flyers and have visitors bring their relatives and friends to the zoo.”
“I think these methods would have limited effect. How about we assign someone to film short videos and post them online? They might go viral.”
Tan Xinzhang’s eyes lit up: “I think that’s a good idea. Short videos are popular and well-received. Most importantly, short videos are indeed suitable for filming cute animals, allowing us to capture their adorable moments anytime, anywhere.”
“But who will be responsible for this work?”
Everyone looked at each other and then turned their gaze to Tang Yishu.
All the staff members present had their own main duties and lots of work to handle. Only Tang Yishu didn’t have a fixed job at the animal park—she just helped out wherever needed, making her the most suitable person for filming videos.
Tang Yishu was stunned and quickly waved her hands: “No, Director, I haven’t filmed many videos before.”
Tan Xinzhang said: “It doesn’t matter. I haven’t filmed before either. You’ll get better with practice.”
“Besides you, there’s no one more suitable for this task. I think it’s decided!”
Tang Yishu lowered her head slightly, fidgeting with her fingers: “OK… fine, I’ll give it a try.”
……
Meanwhile, the office area of the Terrors Hotel was still brightly lit.
Chen Kangtuo leaned back in his chair and let out a long breath.
After relaxing his nerves, he turned to Hao Qiong and said: “That’s about it. Send a notice to the other department heads, telling them to come for a rehearsal in a couple of days to get familiar with the layout of the new project.”
“The new project has completed construction, but there are still some details that need to be finalized.”
“Starting next week, the new haunted house project will enter the trial operation stage. Our best tester will be Brother Bao.”
“The testing period is one month. All department heads must show their skills and do their best to make sure Brother Bao is taken care of properly!”
Hao Qiong nodded: “Alright, I’ll notify the other department heads right away.”
“But…”
“Will Brother Bao come? Isn’t our ‘luring the tiger down the mountain’ approach a bit too obvious?”
“If Brother Bao has any sense, he shouldn’t take the bait, right?”
“What if Brother Bao adamantly refuses to come?”
Chen Kangtuo smiled slightly: “Well… I’ve already asked Mr. Pei for help.”
“With Mr. Pei involved, Brother Bao won’t refuse.”
Hao Qiong was initially delighted but then showed concern: “But… I feel like Mr. Pei isn’t firmly on our side.”
“I feel like this action might have huge potential risks…”
Hao Qiong couldn’t articulate exactly what risks there might be, only feeling that Mr. Pei’s actions were always unpredictable, and he never acted without purpose. His support for Chen Kangtuo’s plan to set up Bao Xu felt a bit strange.
Chen Kangtuo showed determination: “Never mind! Even if there are huge problems, we’ll deal with them later. The main thing now is to get Brother Bao here and establish authority for our Terrors Hotel.”
……
……
July 22nd, Monday.
The president’s office at Tenda Group.
“Simply put, Chen Kangtuo and his team want to invite you to be the chief experience officer for the new project at the Terrors Hotel. What do you think?” Pei Qian smiled as he looked at Bao Xu.
Bao Xu chuckled, seemingly having anticipated this.
After all, when Chen Kangtuo was suffering before, he had directly threatened him. If he went back and did nothing, that wouldn’t be Chen Kangtuo’s style.
Moreover, the new project at the Terrors Hotel had been under construction for a long time, and next month’s “Suffering Travel” work would also be in its maintenance period. All signs indicated that judgment day was approaching.
Bao Xu pondered for a moment and said: “I can go, of course.”
“However… I have a small request.”
Obviously, Bao Xu hadn’t been sitting idle during this time but had come up with a countermeasure.
Pei Qian was instantly interested: “Oh? Please, do tell. I’ll try my best to fulfill it.”
