Extra Chapter: Reminiscence of Dreams — Fleeting Beauty, Several Seasons of Melancholy 5

Zi Feng brought Yu Wensang to the mortal realm’s finest establishment, Fengchao Tower, which was ranked first among all the wine houses in this flower capital. They went up to a private room on the second floor and sat down. He called to the waiter following behind them, “Bring up all your signature dishes!”

The waiter was an observant person. Hearing Yu Wensang order signature dishes without asking about prices, he happily ran off to relay the order. Before long, a full table of delicacies from land and sea was laid out.

“You may go!” Yu Wensang waved her hand to dismiss the waiter, then imitated Zi Feng’s manner by raising her eyebrows, “Young master, I wonder if you brought enough silver today.”

Zi Feng looked at the table full of delicacies, then at Yu Wensang’s smug face. He simply smiled without responding, elegantly picking up his chopsticks to taste a bit of shredded vegetables with natural grace and inherent nobility.

“Though mortals have short lifespans and are mostly foolish, they do have quite a skill for cooking.”

Yu Wensang’s remark fell flat, but she wasn’t annoyed. She casually picked up her chopsticks and began eating heartily, mockingly asking, “Why are you always lurking around our Yu clan’s Dajing Royal Palace? Could it be you’re a thief?”

“Have you ever seen a thief swagger into a wine house for a meal?” Zi Feng glanced at Yu Wensang dismissively.

Yu Wensang didn’t look up, “Thieves who go to wine houses don’t have ‘thief’ written on their faces either. You never know.”

Zi Feng put down his chopsticks and leaned forward toward Yu Wensang, “By that logic, you might be a thief too.”

“Cough…” Yu Wensang choked on a mouthful of food, coughing as she looked up at Zi Feng’s smugly smiling face. She glared fiercely at him, “Don’t affect my appetite. No talking while eating, no speaking while sleeping!”

Zi Feng indeed stopped asking questions. After eating casually, he observed Yu Wensang across from him, “You don’t seem like a princess at all. You followed me to the mortal realm and a wine house without even asking who I am. You have quite the courage!”

Yu Wensang showed a nonchalant smile, put down her chopsticks, and clapped her hands. The waiter who had been waiting outside immediately ran in. After hearing the bill, it was even more expensive than Yu Wensang had expected, which made her even happier as she lifted her chin to look at Zi Feng across from her.

However, Zi Feng simply raised his hand and casually tossed over the silver, even generously tipping the waiter extra, making the waiter so happy his eyes disappeared with joy.

Yu Wensang hadn’t expected him to spend so much silver without changing expression. Feeling somewhat deflated, she said randomly, “Just a little money bag! Now let’s go to the streets and see how much money you have!”

After speaking, Yu Wensang ignored Zi Feng and turned to leave, going downstairs.

“This one’s nice, this one’s pretty…” Yu Wensang didn’t care that someone was following behind her. She looked and examined things all along the way, taking whatever she liked while Zi Feng followed behind, paying for everything. All along the street, people stared wide-eyed at Yu Wensang, thinking some country bumpkin had come to town. After shopping for just a short while, Yu Wensang was already carrying a huge pile of things. Looking back at Zi Feng, he still had a smug expression as he watched her.

“How about it? Want anything else? I’m afraid you just don’t have a third hand to carry more.” Zi Feng looked at Yu Wensang holding a messy pile of things, his face blooming with laughter.

Yu Wensang rolled her eyes, walked toward the beggars behind the street corner, and distributed all the items to them one by one.

“Little money bag, still want to continue shopping?” Yu Wensang clapped her hands, looking at Zi Feng with complete confidence. This time Zi Feng’s expression completely darkened—not because he felt bad about the silver, but because if Yu Wensang continued shopping like this, he was really afraid they’d be taken to the authorities as people who take things without paying, which would be a huge loss of face. Just as he was about to suggest taking Yu Wensang back, she had already stepped into a nearby tea shop.

“Shopkeeper, how much is this Da Hong Pao tea?” A veiled woman was looking at tea on the counter and asking the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper first assessed the woman’s clothing, then casually said, “One hundred taels per jin!”

“You profiteer!” Before the veiled woman could speak, Yu Wensang had already shouted out.

“Miss, what do you mean by that?” The woman turned to look at Yu Wensang, who now saw clearly that the woman wore a brocade embroidered gauze dress, her hair styled in a chasing clouds arrangement with two superior jade hairpins inserted in her hair—a young lady from a wealthy mortal family, obviously someone ripe for fleecing.

Yu Wensang approached the counter and looked at the tea on display. “According to your mortal realm’s market prices, the finest Da Hong Pao is only seventy-some taels per jin. But this Da Hong Pao’s color and quality aren’t even the best—they don’t even qualify as superior grade tea, yet you’re asking for one hundred taels. Isn’t this deceiving people?”

Upon hearing this, the shopkeeper’s face immediately darkened. He reached out to put away the tea and waved his hand to push Yu Wensang, but someone had already grabbed his extended hand and pressed it against the counter, saying in a low voice, “Being so rude to a young lady—how shameless!”

Looking closely, the person who intervened was a young man with an extremely handsome face—sword-like brows and starry eyes, a jade nose and thin lips. His sculpted features were truly captivatingly beautiful. His low, indifferent yet somewhat cold voice gave him a unique, intimidating presence.

The shopkeeper was no simple character. Seeing himself restrained, he called to the back, and immediately several people ran out carrying sticks.

“Get away quickly!” Yu Wensang blocked a wooden stick swinging down and pushed the woman aside. Her arm hurt, and she couldn’t help crying out.

“Miss!” The woman quickly checked Yu Wensang’s arm. Yu Wensang was in so much pain that she closed her eyes tightly, not daring to let anyone touch her. Seeing those thugs raising their sticks toward Yu Wensang and the others again, Yu Wensang was so frightened she forgot to run. Fortunately, the handsome man reached out to pull Yu Wensang and the woman aside, quickly moving to dodge.

“You dare touch my people—quite bold!” The man angrily shouted, and four young men in azure clothing whooshed in from outside the door. In less than three moves, all the shop’s people were knocked to the ground.

“Your Highness, we’re sorry you were startled!” The leading azure-clothed man knelt in salute. At the same time, a group of armored soldiers suddenly poured in from outside. A general-like leader immediately dismounted and entered, kneeling, “Your Highness, we were late in protecting you. Please forgive our offense.”

“What are you all doing bringing so many people? They’re just a few petty bullies oppressing people. How disappointing! Take them away quickly!” The man waved his sleeves dismissively. The leading general quickly signaled to take the shop’s people out, then respectfully presented a letter with both hands.

The man took the letter, casually glanced at it, his brows furrowing slightly for a moment before putting it away. He waved his hand to signal their departure, and those people quickly withdrew and soon disappeared.

Yu Wensang watched the scene that had just unfolded, staring at the man with wonder in her heart. Only then did she remember she had never asked who he was, “Who exactly are you?”
