Chapter 67 – Forum

“DOUHU (Bean Tiger)” was the largest comprehensive forum in the country.

Few forums could balance male-oriented and female-oriented content while attracting both groups. DOUHU was the only one that could accomplish this.

Back in high school, Lin Wan Xing read serialized historical novels by masters on “DOUHU.” Even then, she knew the basketball and football sections were popular, but she had never visited them.

It was yesterday’s matter with Wang Fa that made her think of opening the forum to check for news about Yongchuan Hengda’s new head coach.

When Lin Wan Xing mentioned “DOUHU,” the boys weren’t very enthusiastic.

First, they had no interest in the Chinese national team or the Chinese Super League.

Second, they felt this forum was a place where adults (in Qin Ao’s words, “uncles and aunties”) played, while young people like them went to Bilibili, Tieba, and NetEase Cloud.

“What exactly do you want us to see?” the boys wondered.

“Umm…” Lin Wan Xing picked up her phone, looked at it, and then said, “Please click into the ‘Chinese Football’ section.”

“Does DOUHU have a local football section? Are we going there to find coach information or make a public recruitment?” Fu Xin Shu asked very seriously.

Lin Wan Xing — “…”

The boys, puzzled, followed her instructions and clicked into the section.

The “Chinese Football” section was cold, in stark contrast to DOUHU’s “International Football” section.

So when the students entered, their attention was immediately drawn to the red-highlighted post floating on the homepage.

“[[Real Rumor]] Inside Information: Yongchuan Hengda Head Coach Finalized!”

Main post — Breaking news! I heard from someone inside Yongchuan Hengda that they’ve set their sights on the former deputy director of Southampton’s youth training camp, a young coach named Winfred!

Why not use Coach Liu? Is this just worshipping foreigners?

Coach Liu has worked diligently for so many years, from the professional team back then to the national youth team later, and now as a consultant for Yongchuan Hengda. Who in the team doesn’t respect him? He has experience leading a first team, is well-liked within the team, and couldn’t be more suitable.

“Who is Winfred?” Chen Jiang He asked. “Is he our coach?”

Lin Wan Xing — “Yes, it’s your coach’s ‘stage name’ in England.”

As this concerned “one of their own,” the students immediately became fully engaged.

DOUHU posts had a mechanism where the most liked replies would be listed at the top.

So when the boys scrolled down the page, the first thing they saw was a highlighted reply with over three hundred “likes.”

So it’s decided? After hearing the poster’s two candidates, I feel our team is even more hopeless.

And the responses below weren’t any kinder, neither approving of Liu Chuan Guang nor believing Wang Fa was the best choice.

Liu Chuan Guang is so old now, what has he accomplished? We know he coached the national youth team, but why couldn’t he even coach the Olympic team? Why don’t you mention why he couldn’t coach the Olympic team? Don’t you know he lacks the ability? Besides, you first mention experience, then relationships, but never coaching ability. You also know he’s not good at coaching, right?

It’s not that I have anything against the deputy director of a youth training camp, but Winfred is too young. He’s reportedly not even thirty and doesn’t seem to have coached at the first-team level before. Having experience teaching kids to play football and leading a first-team are two different things.

Yongchuan Hengda won’t be saved unless they replace that useless midfielder. I don’t think finding a new coach will make any difference.

The top replies mainly criticized Coach Liu, while many later ones questioned whether Wang Fa could coach a first team.

The students frowned deeply, finally seeing a “professional” reply that fiercely criticized the original poster.

Do you understand what position Southampton’s youth training holds in the Premier League? Being able to become the deputy director of Southampton’s youth training camp at such a young age is proof of ability! Besides, do Chinese players need Lippi to teach them how to play matches now? What they need is a good youth coach to teach them the basics! Remember Milu back in the day?

They immediately tried to like this comment but found they needed to register an account.

The boys gradually gathered together, briefly discussed what to reply, and let Qin Ao, who was the first to complete registration, post the reply.

[Liu Chuan Guang is nothing! He’s not even worthy of polishing Winfred’s shoes! Mark my words, Yongchuan Hengda’s head coach will be Winfred!]

Qin Ao typed the reply rapidly in the response box and clicked send confidently.

Lin Wan Xing stood beside them, finding it almost unbearable to read.

After Qin Ao submitted his reply and refreshed, he found a comment that had appeared before his:

Are you satisfied now with, the original poster? They’ve officially announced Coach Liu.

“What does ‘officially announced Coach Liu’ mean?” Qin Ao frowned, asking instinctively.

“It should mean exactly what it says, an official announcement,” Fu Xin Shu answered pedantically.

Qi Liang, who had been standing outside the group, finally couldn’t hold back and cursed after hearing this: “Are you all idiots?”

Qin Ao turned around — “Watch your language, or I’ll initiate a motion to vote against you!”

“Damn, would this woman have us look at the forum for no reason? Of course, she wants you to see the news. Don’t you understand what this means yet?” Qi Liang rarely shouted so loudly, clearly having held back his frustration with these fools for quite some time.

Yu Ming, who had been reading the previous replies, suddenly spoke up, “Boss, does this mean that Yongchuan Hengda’s new head coach is Coach Liu?”

The boys gathered around Qin Ao, looking at the phone in his hand, all dumbfounded and shocked as if they couldn’t believe this guess.

Qi Liang pulled up the news he had just finished reading back to the title section, enlarged it, and slammed the phone heavily on the table: “Idiots, look clearly.” “Yongchuan Hengda Football Club Appoints Liu Chuan Guang as First Team Head Coach”

The news release time was 7:00 AM on October 1st.

The main post of the news had attached the red-headed document that Lin Wan Xing had seen in her email last night.

The next moment, as if a magic spell had been lifted, the boys suddenly all started howling, scrambling to look at Qi Liang’s phone.

“Why is it Coach Liu again? What right does Liu the dog have!” said Zheng Fei Yang, who had some Yongchuan Hengda fan elements in him.

“Then what about our coach? Where did our coach go? Is he going back to England?”

“Yeah, wasn’t our coach supposed to become Yongchuan Hengda’s head coach? Was our coach rejected because of this post?!” Feng Suo suddenly shouted.

Lin Wan Xing silently looked at this group of little fools, completely speechless.

“Coach, why haven’t you left yet?”

On the second day at noon after Wang Fa announced he would leave.

The boys of Hongjing Eighth Middle School’s football team ran up the stairs and pushed open the rooftop door with a “bang.”

The midday sun was scorching, making the entire rooftop warm and toasty.

Under the bright light, the first boy who rushed up opened his mouth wide, revealing an astonished expression.

On the rooftop, the man who had been discussed back and forth on the forum, who in their minds had already left and should now be exercising authority at Yongchuan Hengda.

At this moment, he was sitting under the sun umbrella on the rooftop, wearing a shirt and slippers, leisurely inserting a straw into a yogurt box.

“You haven’t left yet?!” Yu Ming shouted at Wang Fa.

At that time, Lin Wan Xing was left at the very back. She hadn’t eaten breakfast and had only filled her stomach with snacks, then lectured the students for two hours. She was already dizzy with hunger, and hearing Yu Ming’s loud shout made her feel even dizzier.

“Mind your speech,” Lin Wan Xing reminded, holding onto the handrail.

Yu Ming stood in the frame of the rooftop iron door deep in thought, blocking the way for the students behind him, and was pushed aside.

Feng Suo had just reached the rooftop, saw Wang Fa leisurely enjoying the breeze and drinking yogurt, and naturally replaced Yu Ming’s words with another expression: “Coach, why are you still here?!”

Lin Wan Xing thought there must be a reason why student Feng Suo couldn’t get into a relationship.

The boys came up one by one, each expressing shock at Wang Fa still being there.

Lin Wan Xing walked at the very back, sat directly opposite Wang Fa, and opened a bag of Cuiyuan small biscuits from the snacks on the table to fill her stomach.

“It seems they want me to leave?” Wang Fa took a sip of yogurt and said with feigned sadness, “Maybe I should leave then.”

“That’s enough,” Lin Wan Xing warned Wang Fa. “These snacks were bought by me. What did we agree on?”

In the wind, the students still didn’t understand what was going on and couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

They all started talking at once.

“Why are you still here? Why did Yongchuan Hengda’s head coach become Coach Liu? What does this mean?”

“Are you not going to Yongchuan Hengda anymore, or is there another team?”

“Or did Yongchuan Hengda not want you? Is Coach Liu two-faced? We’ll go to ‘DOUHU’ and criticize him to death for you!”

“DOUHU?” Wang Fa questioned.

“Well, I had them look at the forum to officially announce that you hadn’t left,” Lin Wan Xing said righteously.

“Then I might as well make it more official myself.”

Lin Wan Xing saw Wang Fa face his players, pause for a moment, and then very solemnly announce: “Yes, I’m not leaving. I didn’t choose to go to Yongchuan Hengda. I’m planning to stay.”

He said.

The wind blew across the autumn rooftop; today was still a day with clear skies and good weather.

“Why?”

The boys still couldn’t believe their ears. They scratched their heads and ears, the word “why” escaping their lips.

“Because I couldn’t bear to part with you all, so I decided to stay,” Wang Fa said.

At that moment, as if hearing something incredibly unbelievable, the students all turned to stone.

Their wide-eyed expressions reminded Lin Wan Xing of weasels she had seen online before. A group huddled together, standing upright, paws resting on their bellies, necks stretched straight, looking toward their target.

Anyway, for some time, the students couldn’t say anything.

Just as Wang Fa would use a seemingly fake “little excuse” to cover his true thoughts.

The boys would do the same.

Lin Wan Xing coughed lightly, suggesting that they should at least say something, and the students began to speak one after another.

“Coach, did you reject Yongchuan Hengda to stay and teach us?”

“Coach, you’re so mushy.”

“What do you mean you couldn’t bear to part with us?!”

“Is it that you couldn’t bear to part with Teacher Lin?”

Wang Fa was quite open about all this: “Indeed, I couldn’t bear to part with her either.”

That’s what he said.

Lin Wan Xing had just picked up another bottle of yogurt from the table when she realized that all the students, including Wang Fa, were looking at her.

“What? I am indeed very charismatic,” she took a sip of yogurt and similarly found an excuse, covering up a little.
